- In this video I briefly go over what discard is, its uses and what to do with it if you keep it! There are so many great discard recipes, I love finding them on AmyBakesBread, Acts Of Sourdough, and Pantry Mama! #sourdough #sourdoughbread #sourdoughdiscard #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughclub
I “started” this process after your video with Kris. I’m so excited to have my journey begin and be along side you. Thank you ❤
Love that you got started on your sourdough journey! 💓💓
Me too!
Yes! More vids! With best boy doggo! ♥
Questions!
1. I wonder if reacing to bad baking and cooking would be some fun video ideas. (Maybe have bro and Kris join in remote? idk)
2. B roll B roll and more B roll , show that lovely bread and foods!
3. Do you think it is sacralidge to put chowder in a sourdough bread bowl? 🤔
4. Can you put your socails in the description area for easy find, please and thank you.
5. Is your brother going to pay you to advertise his candy? 🤣😆
6. Have you thought about asking some of the top questions on the video? Might be a good way for engagement.
Comments on vid.
1. I didn't think the sound was bad till the dryer stopped, that sound was kind of causing some ear unpleasantness. (no big deal I know your dialing everying in just saying)
2. Phone video actually looks pretty pro level.
3. Audio for sure needs some TLC but to be honest i'ts ok.
4. Theme music and intro graphics logo soon?
Ok I better stop or that one guy is going to come and scold me again. I'll try to remember to post your vids in my food group.
I love all the questions and ideas!! Gives me a lot of inspo and please keep them coming!! No matter how many questions there are 😂🎉

Thanks!! You should totally give us a tour of your old farmhouse! 😊
Great idea!!
Great video! Came over from the Kris and Caleb video you were on. Been following them both for a while now, and now I follow you as well! I love the content so far! And I'd like to see homemade pizza a la Mckenzie.
Thank you so much for the support! I’m totally doing a pizza vid… it seems to be highly requested! I also make pizza at least once a week😂🎉
Looking forward to seeing content you make with your brother, loving the videos already ❤
Thank you so much! 💞

I love your videos, keep 'em coming! I definitely don't mind the production quality as long as the information is great. And the puppers are so cute!
Do you have a Cinnamon Roll Recipe?
I worked in a family pizza shop for about 20 years, starting as a young adult. We closed years ago, I would LOVE to see the pizza dough recipe. I think I could wing it, it's always better working from a recipe!
Thank you so much!
I have followed a few cinnamon roll recipes but would like to perfect one! Good video idea though.
Yes!! I’m doing pizza dough soon, seems to be a lot of request! ❤
im soooo excited to see what to actually use the discard for xD every time i attempt a sourdough i never know what to do and i get over whelmed and it dies
Totally understand!!
I love discard recipes and can’t wait to share 🎉❤
You know so much about this! Any tips for how to go hiking with your sourdough and bake it in the woods, in a stone age oven or similar?
@@tynnhammar great question! It would depend on how long your hiking… if it’s a day hike I’d just take your under starter and feed it in the eve when you get to campsite and start bread in the am.
If it’s a longer hike, then I’d look into dehydrating the starter and rehydrating it at camp! I’m not familiar with a Stone Age oven, but you could bake the bread in a Dutch oven over the fire!
@@thebreadlady_ ehh, I'm feeling a bit stupid, but isn't a Dutch oven something....else?
@@thebreadlady_ cool! Thanks for the reply! I will try it, usually I am out for a few days/weeks. Need to figure out how to keep the ”baby” safe. The oven I usually build is a multilayered stone oven, with a fire underneath. I am a trained archaeologist, so always called it a stoneage oven because thats where I learned how to make it!
@@TheJubess that "something else" was named for the original which is the cooking pot with a lid because it traps the warm air inside the pot.
Hello, that was a very informative and amazing video. I'm delighted you took my recommendation seriously; the audio was noticeably improved. Keep making such informative videos. I'm so delighted I discovered someone that is so thorough. You can create a playlist solely for sourdough bread; it's wonderful. I can't praise you enough.
I used my discard to brew some wine once. The yeast only survived to 11%ABV though. In late '22 I asked chatgpt why I had to discard. It equated the starter to an aquarium. Without occasional water changes, the waste products will build up until the environment no longer supports life. I was wondering whether your bro was going to hook you up with some proper equipment. He's gotta have some old gear laying around.
@@isaacinnis that’s also a really great analogy!
Yes! He does and I’m going to start recoding once a wk with him so he can show me the ropes!
Hi bread lady I love your videos so far said I couldn’t wait I WAS BUSSY LOVE UR VIDS IMA WATCH IT RN!
Thank you!! ❤
@@thebreadlady_ Yw!
Good Stuff, would you ever do a video on making cinimon bread?
Great suggestion! I will certainly add it to the list of breads to try on here!
Thanks Mackenzie! Have you got any tips for cold weather starters. We are in the depth of winter here is Aus and my starter is not having a fun time. Your comments have given me a lot more confidence to give it a go again :D
Hi!! Thank you for your question and watching my videos 💓 Yes! My first tip would be wrap your jar in a dish towel of sorts, it can act as insulation against drafts. You can also keep it in a warmer area of your kitchen such as microwave or oven (both off) however, if you live with other people that could potentially be disastrous.
My other tip would be adding some dark rye flour into a feeding! So if you feed 50g flour, I’d do half that amount with dark rye. It can act as a “steroid” of sort for your yeast babies. Hope this helps!
Comment for engagement purposes.
Coming from kmk channel 😂👌❤️❤️
She’s the best. Thank you!
😎❤️🌹 You are doing Great 👍 🍞
I appreciate this comment!! ❤❤
I thought kallmekris was the most beautiful woman to ever live. And then I watched the trad wife video and MY GOD WAS I WRONG! 😂😂😭 she definitely thee most beautiful girl to ever live now😮🥺
sort of a strange question but what exactly does a "starter" produce? I'm pretty allergic to mold and fungus so I'd rather not create one, open my jar, and then bam be done for two weeks.
From Google- “Sourdough starter is a living culture of wild yeast and lactic acid bacteria that's used to make bread rise. It's made by combining flour and water and allowing it to ferment”
However, if you are allergic I’d definitely consult your healthcare professional to be cleared for one.
when i searched videos abt making my starter i was told i NEED to discard. is that true?? is there like any exceptions?
i just saw the end T_T nvm
You need a better mic setup, it's hard to hear you.
Great video otherwise.
@@NDBoost thank you for your feedback! I am working on it 🙌🏼
