We can see the great physical fitness and accelerated tempo, positioning (rotations), and masterful craftsmanship of Holland which brought giants like Brazil, Argentina and others to their knees. There will never be a football team like this one again.
Brasil 70 is The best nacional team in fotball history
Well everything except the physical fitness because they were quite heavy smokers
@@powerzoldyck5670Brazil 1970 - a team full of brilliance. But they had significant weaknesses in defence.
For example the final might well have gone the other way, but after the 4-3 clash against Germany the Italian team collapsed physically in the second half.

Cruyff is a genius. Probably the most influential figure in the history of the game.
ofcourse
He was a really great player. Let's agree on that. But let's not exaggerate either.
In terms of "influential" I would rank a few players on par with thim (or even above him): Pelé, Maradona, Beckenbauer and others who also achieved great successes (e.g., world cup winners).
Pity the Dutch didn't make it in 1974. They were too self-assured and failed when a determined German side was better on that particular day and won the final match.
@@stxa2594 In terms of "influential" none of them comes even close to Cruyff. Especially because of that what he did in Barcelona. Messi was "produced" by Barca and without Cruyff he might not have become one of the greatest.
@@clemensgruber7278 Let's not confuse the influence of a player with that of a coach.
Cruyff's coaching of Barca was really extraordinary, but as a player it's a pity that he neither won the World nor European championship. (Millions of kids around the world played football and wanted to be like ... Cruyff? No - like Pelé or like Maradona. That's "influential" in the sense of the word to me.)
@@stxa2594 Cruyff was the heart of "total football", a revolutionary style that took the world by storm. In that clockwork orange he was a real team leader who influenced the game of his teammates significantly.
In the 1970s he was indeed THE world footballer and there were for sure millions of kids who wanted to be like Cruyff.
But I have to agree that he is not as well known by non-footballfans as Pele or Maradona. And today's kids still know about Don Diego. But if someone had asked in my class 30 years ago "Who is Cruyff" - besides me not more than 1 or 2 people might have known him for sure.
Total football..amazing!!..Cruyff, Neskenns, Kroll, Suurbier, Van Hanegem...genius
RIP JOHAN CRUYFF LEGEND OF HOLLAND AND THE WORLD
RIP Johan Neeskens, unforgettable champion
The great Dutch side got goals from Johan Neeskens and Johan Cruyff to beat the defending champion Brazilians, who meet the Netherlands again in the 3rd-place match at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

RIP Johan Neeskens. That classic 70s Dutch team were a joy to watch.
The birth of total football.
It was more an unveiling than a birth. Since the mid 60s Rinus Michels and Johan Cruyff had been developing Total Football and it was on display during Ajax's European Cup threepeat from 71 to 73.

That's not true. They were better than the Germans, but the latter deservedly won the finals.

The flying dutchmen were incredible this WC. Hopefully Holland win the WC someday. They deserve at least one win, but in football nothing is deserved, and it just takes making more goals than the opponent.

Cruyff finally gets further enough up the field to score the greatest flying volley you'll ever see. Only Pele could have matched that piece of skill.
There's that Barcelona effort too.

Dutch Football will return one day🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱
A real rough-house of a game by all accounts, in which Holland were every bit as physical as Brazil.
Brazil were dirty and Holland wouldn't stand for it.

Agree. The most physical football match I've ever seen, culminating in Luis Pereira's brutal challenge on Neeskens.
@@hugodrax71 Judging by the fact that even yellow cards were given quiter rarely those years, even for brutal fouls, it's almost scary to imagine how violent was his tackle on Neeskens to 'force' the referee to give him a straight red
Holland is one of the countries Brazil do not like to play against at World Cups. They played 5 times against each other at WC tournaments, And Brazil won only 1 game and lost 3 times against Holland and 1 draw.
Wrong, 94 and 98 Brazil beat them..lost to them in 74, 10 and 14
Such an amazing team!
The player on the floor at the very beginning of the clip was Neeskens. He was actually knocked out by a punch from the Brazilian captain Marihno Peres, but came round, played on and scored. Ironically Neeskens and Peres later became team mates at Barcelona.
The NEW football
The second goal, Ze Maria (number 2) stops, probably because he thought it was offside, but then Cruyiff keeps running, and it was too late for him to fix his mistake

I disagree... Brazil was so weak in that cup. Brazil and Netherlands in 1998, for instance, was much tougher - and Netherlands deserved to win (in both games), if you ask me. Cheers!

Brazil was no longer the "pretty game" of the 1970 World Cup, at that time it was "all kicks", it was more like Uruguayan soccer than before, but the Dutch team with justice with soccer

Why did Cruyff snub Rep's congratulations after he scored the second goal?
Because they didn't get along.

Johan Cruijff with his 2 stripes shirt 2:22
Why did the game turned rude and vilonet? Was just the heat of the match, or there was a controversial off-side or something which trigger the caos?
Brazil were champions previous world cup, netherlands never attended a world cup before. So losing to a side brazil never heard off triggered them as they lost their title to this team. Netherlands also dominated and hummilliated some brazillian players wich never happenend before
@@EKoranjeWK the dutch were very agressive too. Don't put all the blame on Brazil.

How so? It's often the Germans who get robbed by referees in finals.
WC 66, Euro 92
@@nuwandalton they weren’t robbed in either of those finals, and in this one they got a penalty for absolutely nothing
Weren't they? A blatant foul by a Dane before the first goal, and an obvious hand by Vilfort before the second one. As for 1966, it's unclear, to put it mildly.
@@thomasmuller6301 Germany won that final fair and square, and rather it was Germany that got robbed in 1966.

C'mon....I'm a Selecao fan, but give them a break.....very unlucky in 1978 Finals. They've beat us in 3 world cups! And plus they are only 17 million people.
It's a miracle they produced so much world class players and teams with such a small population.

@@charlenegatt1769 ....that should tell you something.....then 3 more in the third place playoff......up to that point of Neymar's injury they were leading or ther about in goals scored!
Around 10 years earlier, early 60s, Cruyff was only the second professional football player, Keizer being the other. To go from that to a wonderful exciting team who 'should' have won the 74 world cup in just 10 years is phenomenal. Brazil and Argentina have much more history of professional playing and world cups. Plus, Holland is a tiny country in comparison.
