Chad King, You haven’t heard great black metal if you think all black metal is short. Listen to some Bathory or Evilfeast or Burzum. The average song length of my 127 song black metal playlist (which does not include blackened death metal, I have a separate playlist for that) is about 6:40 long.

Lorna Shore and others like them are marketed as "blackened deathcore" when they really just mean symphonic. This is unironically blackened deathcore. I honestly want to explore a sound like this more. There's an untapped niche here, genuinely.

Here’s my own playlist of what I would personally consider “blackened” Deathcore, meaning it takes either musical or atmospheric inspiration from black metal. So not every song has tremolo picking or blast beats, but some of them have a very blackened-ish dark tone.

How about Sletchvalk? Their album A Forlorn Throne is the biggest reason I got into metal at all, and it’s still amazing IMO. Also, Havukruunu does clean vocals on most of their songs. There’s cleans on “The Millennium King” by Old Man’s Child. A lot of my favorite Black Metal has clean vocals.
You need to throw a lot of reverb over the whole thing...it needs to sound likes its being played in a flooded basement. Classic black metal!

Honestly black metal can be the easiest or one of the harder genres to write for simply depending on the specific style of black you're playing. Like a black metal song can be complicated yet dark beautiful melodies, or it can be as simple as picking a dark sounding finger position and just sliding up and down the fret board using that same shape.
It's one of my all time favorite music genres and I'm happy to see you cover it, it really is fun ASF.
Side note:
While growling is used in some black metal subgenres such as Bestial Black Metal or Blackened Death, it's not very common. The normal go to is JUST screams.
