I took a page from your book. I made homemade marinara (using canned tomatoes) on Tuesday, and just a few minutes ago, I turned about a cup of it into a savory sauce for a meatloaf. Amateur, I know, but I'm proud of it, lol! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love that! Great job!
Great idea! Sounds so good!
I left the video I was watching to watch one of my favorite UA-cam moms.
Ah, thanks so much, Alma! I appreciate the view and the nice comment! :)
@@SeeMindyMom you're welcome, friend. Hope you're doing well this lovely afternoon.
I just want you to know I appreciate how real you are. I find myself missing authenticity lately and it is refreshing to see your content.
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
We are empty nesters who had a special glass pumpkin for the peanuts and candy corn mixture. My daughter saw the pumpkin in the give away box and decided to take it home to start the tradition with her family. So fun finding out what’s special to our grown kiddos.
Ah, I love that! :)
I have that pumpkin jar and it's going to my son's house as soon as the mix is gone from it this year!
I found this out when I was getting rid of a glazed pottery bowl that held the sink stopper, rubber gloves, and scrubbing sponges by the kitchen sink a few years ago. My daughter said “ are you getting rid of that?!” And she was shocked since it was there her whole life. For Christmas I used that bowl as a container to gift her some new kitchen tools in.
I have totally quit buying whole chickens to cook myself. Sam's club rotisserie chickens at $4.99 are still cheaper than any chickens I could buy. I still make broth from the bones & it makes for such easy, quick, and cheap meals. That soup looks so so good & have all the goods to make it. Score!
Mindy you are the queen of using things up and turning them into awesomeness 👏🏻👏🏻
haha! Thank you! That's a crown I would proudly wear. 👑
YES,SHE IS...GO MINDY, LOVE YOUR CHANNEL.
Thank you for being Real! “This is what the kitchen looks like at 8:30, Not Pinterest” I love it!
We spend so much money on food! This is what I needed to learn how to cook cheaper 😛
My pet's vet bills were unusually high this month, so I was thinking a pantry cooking week or two might be needed very soon. This video is confirmation that I was correct!
I loved The Boxcar Children books when I was young. I actually had a Boxcar Children cookbook, which I think was the first cookbook that was ever mine, rather than my mom's.
My household can’t seem to polish off the end of tortilla chips, nuts, or crackers. If I put them into little baggies and place them in the snack bowl (where lunch items get selected) it’s like a whole new option! They fall for it every time. And since I personally refill the snack bowl I hold back on their favorites so the little baggies disappear!🤗
I wouldn’t mind cooking like this, but my husband and daughter are so picky. Everything Mindy makes looks so delicious.
Get your daughter to help cook. It honestly changed my daughter's view on meals. She got tired of trying to pls everyone. Found she likes cooking.😊
My son and I are literally doing this now. I'm going section by section in the refrigerator. We're only buying fresh veggies and fruits to go with our meals if we don't have any canned or frozen options.
I appreciate how real life you are :)
This is how I cook most of the time. Meals are never the same twice lol
That's so true! one of the downfalls of throwing things together is that sometimes I can't recreate it later if it's something we really liked! LOL!
I channeled my inner Mindy today. On vacation in Scotland and got stuck at our air bnb due to weather and washed our roads. Found the local gas station that had the smallest “grocery store” and made lunch and dinner for 4 based on about $20 worth of ingredients. Everyone was shocked at the results. Thanks for always sharing how to make a dollar stretch and how to use up pantry ingredients.
I really love this video. Real world, practical dinner and snack ideas, using stuff on hand. This is realistically how I live. Thanks for the ideas and the validation.
I always smile while watching your videos, but especially this one because I had a flash-back of my twin daughters when they were little - wearing Bugles on each finger, pretending they were finger nails, and then eventually eating them, LOL. 🤣😆 Gotta say that quasi-Chex mix idea to use up snacks is brilliant - yum!
I have been shelf cooking for 2 months! 😅 My husband has been working on starting a business and the process is taking longer than we expected. I have been inspired to start buying whole chickens instead of chicken breasts…I usually cook them in the crockpot anyways. 😊
I have to tell you….we do Financial Peace program. And we ran out of grocery money. As we usually do. If I told you how little we put in that envelope, you would be shocked. So I decided to end out September by using all my food in the outside freezer and my pantry. Wow! What a huge shock it was to see how much stuff I really had in there that could be made up into meals. My husband and I made a trip at the beginning of Oct for milk, eggs and cheese, but I didn’t buy any staples or meat! So we now have 2/3 of our money left and STILL have a lot of stuff to use up. I pray I never overbuy again.
The chicken and noodles over potatoes is a very sophisticated ramen bomb. 😁yummy.
Here in Ohio (Amish country), we used Amish style kluski noodles and put the chicken in the noodles and sauce and put it on top of the mashed potatoes. So good!
Love The Boxcar Children!
dry roasted peanuts and candy corn is the poor man's Pay Day or Salted Nut Roll! Love your dinner ideas and look forward to seeing more!
Great video for me. Our mom used to make chicken and noodles and serve over mashed potatoes. I’m 70 yo and still remember those dinners. When we make Chex mix, we always add Bugles to our mix. Everyones favorite.
I make a very similar chicken and noodles in my crockpot except I season the chicken with salt, pepper and dried basil and I also serve the noodles over mashed potatoes. I'm a carb lover so carbs on carbs is my jam! 😂
I love how you use leftovers for new meals! 😊
Also that leftover snack idea is amazing!!! I am definitely using that!
1st Soprano in the 60s here. We did, "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth." LOL! 6A+, 100, TYVM. 😅 Thanks for the fun memory. 😁
Ooops,70s. LOL.
The giblets are great for dogs. For treats. I always roast them separately for a special treat for my pups.
Mashed potaties with noodles in top are so good. Yum.
My dad always ate candy corn and peanuts. Maybe it’s a Midwest thing, I’m originally from Nebraska. Thanks for all your recipes
I feel so successful this morning! Going over to a friend’s house tonight and was able to make a veggie & dip platter without going to the store!
Especially around the holidays, we do lots of snacky dinners to use up all the odds and ends. We pull everything out and everyone makes their own plate. Our kids love it!
Noodles on top of mashed potatoes 😍 you’re speaking my carb love language! Lol
Love candy corn and peanuts! I worked at a bank through college and all of us tellers would take turns buying the candy corn and peanuts every fall. We would leave it out on the counter and snack on it all day long!
Thanks Mindy! That chicken soup and the chicken and noodles looked yummy!! 🙂
Yum yum !! The candy corn and peanut mixture is delicious!! It tastes like a payday candy bar 😊
Add cinnamon hot drops ( imperail candy to the mixtures, ) and it's delicious 😋 together
I loved Boxcar Children when. I was Brick's age
It's nice to see that the book is still around.
I have the BEST monkey bread recipe using Rhodes Rolls. Note, they need to be prepared the night before.
24 Rhodes frozen dinner rolls
1 package Cook and Serve butterscotch pudding
1 stick of butter
3/4 C brown sugar
3/4 t cinnamon
In the microwave or on the stove, melt the butter, pudding, brown sugar, and cinnamon together.
Place the frozen rolls in an Oiled bunt pan. Pour the sauce mixture over the rolls. Turn oven on to 350 then turn off after it has heated up. Place rolls covered with foil in the oven to rise over night. In the morning remove foil covering, bake at 350 for 25 minutes. I put them on the bottom rack so the tops don’t get burnt and remove the top rack. Let rest for 5 minutes when they are finished and then invert onto a platter.
Love beef and noodles/mashed potatoes my mom and mom-in-law made this😋
Sunday night was our clean the fridge moms not cooking night. I made pizza with what was left in the fridge from the past week’s supper. Everything from taco pizza to spaghetti pizza. My kids loved it. They ate the leftover pizza for lunch throughout the week.
Oh gosh, everything looked so tasty! I think I’ll do a version of the chicken soup for next week’s lunches! I try to make something on the weekend that I can pack for lunches. This week was white chicken chili.
Happy birthday, Ruthie
I think Fit Frugal Mom and you were on the same wavelength this week!🎉❤
We often are. 😂
You amaze me every time Mindy! You gave me an idea of what to do with some leftover chicken and noodles from a crockpot meal. I’m going to freeze the leftovers and turn them into a creamy soup once the cold weather decides to finally get here to Texas! 😂
Ah, man, I hear you! We're having "third summer" here in OK, and I don't love it! LOL!
Came across your UA-cam channel and joined. Lots of great ideas. Currently we are living in Okinawa until 2025 so I really miss all the U.S stores; Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Thrive, etc…
I’m sure that’s challenging!
Noodles and potatoes sounds good but high carbs?I too have Bugles left. Mmm candy corn and peanuts sound yummy. Great ideas. Sunday night use to be my clean out the fridge and pantry, cupboards!
Lol that’s a Midwest thing either beef or chicken and noodles. Fix it on rotation in my home.
I made the month of September my fridge/freezer clean out. We had way too many condiment bottles, salad dressings, and pickles opened in the fridge, so I based my meals off using up those. I also made meals from the freezer that I had just little bits of items left. Some nights, we all ate something a little different. It's felt so good to clean up the little tid bits of items left.
Mashed potatoes & noodles, carb overload, my kind of meal
I love how you use leftovers f
I love the name Brick
I love egg noodles ❤
Love these types of videos!
I've made that same ditalini soup. It's delicious!
I love your videos. You make it seem so easy to use up random ingredients. I wish I was that creative. I'm scared of making a mistake, then wasting all the food.
Snack suppers are awesome!! When our kids were growing up we would have Sunday Silly Supper….eat whatever we wanted…cereal, popcorn, bake a frozen pizza, leftovers, etc.
I love that tradition!
You are blessed to have such a stocked pantry!
Rhodes rolls are the bomb. I keep them in my freezer for holiday leftovers. My kids love to use them for making sandwiches with leftovers.
Love these videos! ❤️
Awesome video Mindy!!
Yuck to giblets gizzards etc. I roasted by first chicken my first time a few weeks ago! It turned out great!! Love your recipies!!!
Great ideas Mindy, thanks ❤
Thanks for all the ideas!
Oh yes, I’m in! candy corn + dry salted peanuts = salted nut roll.😊
I think it tastes like a payday candy bar!
@@SeeMindyMom I think Pay Day and Salted Nut Roll are a lot alike.
Always inspiring!
Everything looks yummy!
Real life!
These are my favorite videos of yours! Thanks to you and your creativity, this Head (Home) Chef rarely lets food go to waste!
Yep!
I love going through my fridge and using things up!
I meal plan for the whole month and always build in one or two nights a week for leftovers which turn out to be my favorite meals. Mixing and matching previous dinners to come up with a new one is so satisfying to me. Everything you created in this video looked delicious.
Love your videos,thanks 👍👍
Love real life stuff !!
Fabulous 🎉
Snack dinner is a great idea
Oh my gosh!!Yes, I do eat candy corn with peanuts!! This is so funny because just the other day I wanted to make a snack mix and my store was out of candy corn so I had to use candy pumpkins. It was a lot of sweet in one bite, but the mix was still yummy. I used peanuts, bugles, popcorn, rice Chex, candy pumpkins, and I added chocolate stars. I make this every year around Halloween.
Candy corn and peanuts it’s delicious and I tell people it tastes like a no chocolate snickers bar when chewing.
Yes! It tastes like a payday to me!
Mmmmmm. Honey roasted peanuts and candy corn eaten together taste like Payday candy bars.
chicken and noodles look so yummy 😋 😊
I love candy corn and peanuts mixed. So good 😊
I have also let those rolls thaw, rise, and then I roll them out together. I’ve made pizzas and calzones this way. 😋Great video!!
A Halloween tradition that my Mom in law would do is, candy corn, spanish peanuts ( a most) and imperial cinnamon hot drop candy. Mix together and its delicious 😋.
I love your videos!
Thanks!
Always enjoy whenever you post new content!
Thank you!
Oooo! Cool idea with the rolls->bread! Random snacks “Chex” mix also brilliant! I love your videos. Such great homemaking advice and ideas! ❤ from Iowa
Mindy, your awesome ! To think of what to do with leftovers 😊 love your video
I'm trying those green beans asap! Thank you for another great video!
Glad you liked it!
Yes!! on candy corn and peanuts! thank you for the suggestions!

I don't drink beer but, I would love to have that can to collect I love the Dallas cowboys :) Thanks for sharing everything looked delicious
We always ate beef and noodles over mashed potatoes growing up! Yummy
Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching!
Sorry I missed the first ingredient you put on the cooked beans. Could you enlighten me please
That chicken soup looks so yummy. Need to make that soon.
It was delicious! Everybody in the household liked it!
Yessssss! Bought my peanuts and candy corn today! A fall time MUST❤
Agreed! 🙌
My mom bought cheap meat and cooked it in the pressure cooker along with gravy and potatoes
Good video
My grandma also made beef and noodles with mashed potatoes! It's on the menu next week so I can use up some potatoes I have in the pantry 😂
You can tell McKenna that I didn't understand what you were asking her, either. 🤣🤣
haha!
You are soooo creative!!!!! It is a pleasure to watch!!!!❤
Thank you!
Peanuts and candy corn are a favorite at my house. I’ve been doing that mixture for several years now. My husband and son’s favorite candy bar is Payday and they like the mix even better. I love watching your videos. I always look forward to them. Your family is in my prayers. Hope you are having a wonderful week.
Thank you so much!
I have found that putting random snacks in the van is a good way to use them up. If kids are hungry, they will eat whatever you have in there 😂
Oh that’s a good tip!
