Fun fact: There is a desert egg quest in village which you have to bring 3 eggs while facing 4 or 5 Genpreys in area 2. Literally unbeatable. But if you are being chased by a Cephalos. The Genpreys will just ... watching??? And that's the only way to beat this quest. (I spent nearly 40 minutes to deal with those Genpreys. Ended up the quest in about 49min30sec. Damn you egg quest.) PS. Cephalos can only find you when you standing next to them while their periodic stops. Also, most of the quest shows up randomly, if you can't find the quest that I'm saying , don't worry, it might shows up after finishing other quest.
I did this quest last night, basically just hugged the map edges until I got back to camp, and killed the area 7 genprey (they don't respawn). Unfortunately Diablos showed up when I was carrying one of the eggs, but I got lucky and hit the loading screen before he was able to hit me. Still took me around 30 min to finish. IMO it's worse than the powderstone quest
You should experience Rathalos/Rathian headlocking with the lance. It was so satisfying esp for Rathalos bc it wasted so much of your time with the 360 aerial flight attack. Not to mention you needed Rathalos plates for the Fatalis armor and they're insanely hard to get.
The original actually got me into the series in itself. This game was harder but the more you got into it the better it got. The new series are more advanced and easier on everything compared to the original. That sounds like early 2000 gaming in a nutshell. MH1 Veteran here, I really feel validated after seeing this video. I always thought Monster Hunter is getting easier, and this video is proof. I first finished the village alone and then ordered an internet connection JUST FOR MH1 to play online. Let me tell you… this was anything but a cakewalk, because it definitely was harder, grindier and I couldn’t understand everything because my English was bad. Seeing him RUN OUT OF TIME in this video put a smile on my face, because it shows how hard it was, that this guy… a grown man who already played MH Rise, struggled so much with a simple Rathalos. This never happened again to me because the games got easier and easier. Sure some of it was because of bad controls and stuff, but all of it together made it really hard, and thus so rewarding and addicting. DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE A RATHALOS PLATE WAS??? Good lord it was rare, people killed hundreds of em, and never got enough for the full fatalis armor. I recommend every Monster Hunter fan to play it, to proof yourself and see where the series actually came from. Hunt Rathalos, hunt Plesioth, hunt Lao Shan Lung, hunt Fatalis and TRY the powdersone quest. There is so much that was lost in the series because of quality of life changes and the need to appeal to EVERYONE. You actually felt like a Hunter back then, now you feel like a monster fighter.
I have played MH1 when it came to ps2. A friend of mine bought it out of curiosity and me shortly after. We never played together since we didnt have internet back at that time, but we both had a blast with this game BECAUSE it was so grindy. Yeah I remember that we also hated the controls, but still. Brings back memories of playing this game as a kid never did get to play online thou as we didint have internet but i beat it as a kid yian kut ku was so hard back then
This is what I'm doing right now too. My last MH was World. My first was Freedom Unite, but my PSP broke back then. The first one I really played was Generations, but damn it is so hard to get into the Original at first. I knew GS didn't have charge attacks cuz I've played Freedom, which is MH1G in PSP form, but the right analog attacking confused me at first haha
Weirdly, the right analog stick controls have grown on me. It's not great, but going into MH Dos and Frontier I've gotten so used to it that it feels semi normal. 😂
It's very difficult for me to have much issue with the flaws and the grindy nature of mh1 since I got it on release and played it religiously until the online servers were shut down, but I don't blame anyone who doesn't get very far in. The simplicity and the the nature of how hard it is to save up money or even just stock up on supplies is what makes me love it, even more than Rise if I'm being honest. There's a kind of beauty in knowing that nothing is given to you, you have to claw and scrape together everything on you own slowly, and it makes things much more rewarding to me. Undoubtedly part of the reason why I love it as much as I do still is because I heavily played it when it was current, I know where the jank is and know how to play around it or use it to my advantage. The one negative I can think of for newer players, at least back then, was the demands from online players. You had to know how to permanently stunlock the raths for plate farming, fatalis groups typically demanded you have either the yian kut-ku cannon or quickcaster HBG for clust 2 spamming. You had to know when claw day was and stock up on wyvern claws so you could craft the clust 2 ammo. Hell some of the groups I'd come across later on would demand to see a completed ruststone weapon before they would allow you to join them on kirin or fatalis hunts. The already small community in NA could get very elitist and demanding if you were the new guy.
My first Monster Hunter game was Freedom (Not Unite - just Freedom) on the PSP. The claw grip to even play was almost as painful as the actual game. I had a real love hate relationship with the game. It didn't help that I was the only person I knew with a PSP. I made it to the Yian Garuga urgent quest and while I played the game a ton, I never pushed past that. I'm glad I gave the series a chance with 3 Ultimate in hopes the series got better, because it sure did. I didn't play much of 3U, but 4 Ultimate and World went on to be some of my favorite games.
"How did this game ever become a series?" Well the standarts used to be different, my uncle showed me couple of oldies few weeks back when we went to visit. Mule was my favorite but me and my brother failed to do another try thanks to me spotting edible mushrooms during our walk, a lot of them so time run out. We also tried a game based on a movie, shameless Mario copy and some plane game and a Snoopy game. Mules soundtrack is super catchy tho, the beat is such a nice one for such an old game.
Crafting pickaxes, plate runs, fucking egg carry to chest and press the wrong button and drop it. Ah yes, the memories. Edit. Forgot you had to carry crafting tomes because crafts could fail
I remapped my pcsx2 to let me use the face buttons to attack. I also mapped a button for unlocked framerate, so i could run at the speed of light during non combat. Its a charming game. Flaws and all
The closest I've ever gotten to playing the first game is Generations Ultinate on the Switch. I've had a strong hate for Cephadrome for a few years. I still feel a tidbit of rage when I see it sometimes.
Man i never played mh 1 but i played freedom 1 so i did exsperience first gen..... I still remember hunting 20 yan kut-tku for med monster bones to upgrade my hammer and than the scarred yan garuga absolutely clobbered me. it was still fun tho .

For anyone wondering there is a well know mod called Mh plus for Mh1 and MhG that makes the gameplay more alike recent Mh ( attacks on square etc ) there is also one for MH2
MH1 "MY HANDS HURT! WHY'D THEY DO THIS!?"
Please also add +1 "How'd this become a series" because 1 was rough and I loved every hour I played it back in the day
😂 MH is my favorite game and Doom is my wife's favorite game so I laughed when you used Doom music
It's a good mix 😂
Brings back memories of playing this game as a kid never did get to play online thou as we didint have internet but i beat it as a kid yian kut ku was so hard back then
10:00
This reminds me of playing freedom unite village and going from doing gypceros hunts and then having kushala in the next star rank
mh1 is peak
You deserve more subs, great funny video
Tyty!
Really fun video! I know how it feels when youtube doesnt give you the views you deserve but keep at it dude!
Appreciated! ✌️
The already small community in NA could get very elitist and demanding if you were the new guy.
bullfango... as far as the eye can see...
Truly awful creatures.
On a DUKE CONTROLLER? You got me fucked up. 😂 Congratulations to you
yet another banger video by Lou Two Shoes
Appreciate it friend! 😎
So with freedom you can say "I know how to play" and accelerates you to urgent quest to bypass 1 star
Id enjoy a part 2 if you decide to do one :)
It's a hard maybe currently.
But a Monster Hunter Dos video at some point... Absolutely. 👀
@@LouTwoShoes oh hell yeah! A Frontier video would also be cool. Its very fun
@@freddoesvox9033 I don't wanna spoil too much, but that may or may not be on the list too... 🤫
@@LouTwoShoes pog
"How did this game ever become a series?" Well the standarts used to be different, my uncle showed me couple of oldies few weeks back when we went to visit. Mule was my favorite but me and my brother failed to do another try thanks to me spotting edible mushrooms during our walk, a lot of them so time run out. We also tried a game based on a movie, shameless Mario copy and some plane game and a Snoopy game. Mules soundtrack is super catchy tho, the beat is such a nice one for such an old game.
Honestly I always preferred the older games to rise (still love it to death though)
Ah, gotta love old MH. Bitch ass hit boxes, Rathalos that loves the sky way too much, and egg quests that have way too much small monsters.
Ahhhh... *inhaling* the nostalgia...

This one sentence has me rethinking doing a retrospective on the series.
@@TheSlackerNamedJack Do it! 😎
@@LouTwoShoes Okay *Cuts off Count Dooku's head*
Oh, you meant the retrospective! Oops....
What if Monster Hunter no prefixes... end of sentence
Crafting pickaxes, plate runs, fucking egg carry to chest and press the wrong button and drop it. Ah yes, the memories.
Edit. Forgot you had to carry crafting tomes because crafts could fail
Im sending much love bro! Amazing video! I hope you get more views, really you deserve more!
Much appreciated! 🤙
I was very young when I first played MH I still hated that version of Rathalos to this day.
I remapped my pcsx2 to let me use the face buttons to attack. I also mapped a button for unlocked framerate, so i could run at the speed of light during non combat.
Its a charming game. Flaws and all
@@keviniaquinto128 It's got charm in spades, for sure!
Start with sword and shield
Chief gives you the perfect amount for full leather.
blows it on something out of budget every single time.
@@FlintDragoon Worth it. 👍
You got times up too!? 😂 Memories....dang rathalos
Praying on that fatalis run with the homies soon
I couldn't stop smiling through this entire video. 😂 My husband is asleep, and I accidentally cracked up at, "I'm gonna spit in his mouth!"
The closest I've ever gotten to playing the first game is Generations Ultinate on the Switch.
I've had a strong hate for Cephadrome for a few years. I still feel a tidbit of rage when I see it sometimes.
@@ShortSquid_027 Cephadrome is a prick for sure. 😂
Man i never played mh 1 but i played freedom 1 so i did exsperience first gen..... I still remember hunting 20 yan kut-tku for med monster bones to upgrade my hammer and than the scarred yan garuga absolutely clobbered me. it was still fun tho .
This is the first mh game i played. I only got to rathalos and rathian 😅 sooooo grindy.
Never Monster Hunter. (Great vid.)
One day. 😏
Even after all those years sometimes I fall on the ground...
Those damn Plesioth hitboxes still hurting me!
Plesioth was, hands down, the worst. It would to that hip-ram attack from across the map and still hit you for a ton of damage.
@@stevenbanks1317 The meme still strong. Even Capcom adopted it. I laughed a lot after see the ultimate move on Riders 2 XD
Bullfango the real nightmare
Facts
oh no the nostalgia ._.
It's a hell of a drug.
With the PSP monster Hunter you get the single claw hand. During the time of the PSP monster Hunter games my hand had a permanent c shape.
Gotta miss the 🩸 in the games 📝🥲✅❤️
I miss the BLOOD. Why did they get rid of blood?
are u using mods on rise clips? why the booba so big. subscribed
Maybe... 🫣
oh god. I played Freedom which was essentially just the G version of the original game. I know this pain well. I thought I would get joy out of watching someone else suffer while playing but I just feel bad lol
@@AgentSapphire The MH1 pain never leaves. 🥲
I remember played this for 150+ hours in ps2, lol, diablos and that rath pair village quest was really really hard to do with my average arse skill, also diablos heart grind was a frggin chore...
Edit: wait its monoblos heart xD
Some companies: closes servers short after some consoles die
Monster hunter servers after 5 generations:
Pretty sure the server is just sitting in their server datacenter and they forgot about it
Well-done video made! 🍖
Finishing off the Rathalos but not going to do Lao Shao Lung is a shame xD
I fought Lao Shao Lung on Frontier,
that fight is ass. 😂
@@LouTwoShoes What? You didn't want to edit half an hour of Ankle Biting? XD
