  • GiddyEdge Hiking in Matlock Derbyshire. We stay at Packhorse Farm which is nicely situated for a walk to Lumsdale Falls, beautiful ruins of a historic industrial mills. We walk on the famous GiddyEdge at Matlock, a slightly hidden away exposed route around the cliff with a 150ft sheer drop off. We visit Matlock Bath Aquarium which was previously a historic Spa. Later that evening we go to see the Matlock Illuminations.
Our walk was superb, interesting the whole way around -and we did it mostly in the rain! details of the route can be found here:

My stomping ground that, I was born and raised just up the road... I was involved in the renovation of the Lumsdale dam and walkways through the old mill ruins, and the Arkwright Mills in Cromford in the early 80s. I've walked every inch of the area and been in every shop. it's certainly a magical place. I'm glad you enjoyed the area and I was smiling all the way through the video.

My ancestor Thomas Flint emigrated from Matlock to Boston in 1635. I noticed a Flint Lane on Google Maps. Very beautiful place!

Coffee shops gone now. I live in Matlock and that's quite the trek, I know how steep, and long, the hills are.

Hi, yes we visited again at the weekend and noticed the coffee shop all closed up. Such a shame 😕... they did great cakes and lovely staff.
We always enjoy Matlock...certainly plenty of steep climbs like you say 👍😉🥾😃Michelle and Andy

Superb Vlog. I don’t think I could manage the hike on those ledges. Thanks for sharing. 😄👍🏻

Glad you enjoyed, the ledges were nice and I would encourage you to have a go if in Matlock, the path is at least 2ft wide all the way round with a hand rail at the key point :)

No, we didn't actually know that, interesting. We love this area, so much history and things to see and do 😀 There's actually another video from Matlock Bath in the pipeline coming up in December after our latest set of Germany videos are done. Cheers...Andy&Michelle

Thank you so much for your really helpful video. We are foing to Matlock this weekend. Do you think Giddy edge is Ok though? Loved the way your lady was dancing behind you...😂. Cheers

Thanks for the comment 😀 Giddy Edge...The path is wide enough and theres a hand rail, the feeling of exposure only lasts for about 10 seconds as you walk around, you just need to watch your feet and stop walking if you want to have a look around, its ok but if you have a serious problem with vertigo I would give it a miss. If you watch our more recent video from Matlock where we go down a cave it also shows us walking in a crag on high tor, after we've been caving, this is easy and also a very good experience, its beautiful in there (need to hop over the fence - but plenty do) Enjoy Matlock Bath, its a wonderful town with amazing scenery 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
