Part two in our series of interviews nabbed when we invited a group of bike modders to bring along their creations to Camphill Chop Shop.
In this episode we meet Barry and it's a first for OYB as we take a closer look at a Lambretta! A '67 SX 150 to be exact.
Would you like us to cover more Lambrettas, Vespas etc? Let us know in the comments below!

Nice scoot. Back in 72 I had a TV 175 with a Villiers carb that pulled wheelies. Brought back some memories.👍

Perfect combination of old and new. Love the chartreuse green. (I'll bet it flies down the motorway!)

Old and old. The TS1 has been knocking around over 20 years now. It's a solid kit, but old hat. Things have moved on a lot since then. Motorcyclists seem not to understand the history of scooter racing. It's been going on since the 50s and is taken very seriously. Probably 40/50% of scooterists are involved with serious engine work. Sadly these days most motorcyists seem to be involved in serious cheque book work and colour coordinated suits and booties

My last lambretta was a 225 sx with Wal Phillips fuel injection, Ancilloti ex/box chrome rings on cut down golf balled piston with scavange ports in the piston just below the rings, I cut the transfer ports into open slots up the barrel, lining up with the scavange ports, lighten & stuffed the crank, polished shaped the head, upped the compression( too much! ) & my mate chromed the barrel, it sheared 3 cranks at the woodruff key so I had to convert it to battery ignition & lights,.you could hear it coming miles away as it sucked the world in through the injector, damp days it was fast ! Had to tune it every day, unfortunately it only did 15 miles to the gallon, finally I got banned for 6 months for doing 93mph up Kingsway after a Manchester Lions meet, judge didn`t believe the speed the cops said but still banned me. Sold it & went onto P&M panthers.
    Regards K. James . keep tinkering !!!

Kay Jay - wow, just found your post brought back distant memories. I had same set up SX bored to 225 padded and balanced crank, wal Phillips sticking out the side, this was in London 1969! The fuel injector was a pain to live with as it drank petrol and had to be turned off using the tap. The compression first thing in the first thing in the morning was too much for the kickstart and I had to pay my young brother to get up and push bump start. On the road it was a beast and the noise from the intake was amazing. I changed the gearing to a SX/GT mix and had a wider tyre on the rear. 12 volt lighting made it look very different at night. Really enjoyed that bike and gave it to my brother when I moved on to ford cortina. Brother wrote it off when a learner, in a driving school car pulled out from side road. he was able to buy a Mini Cooper s with the insurance payout! Sat on a lambretta not too long ago, I couldn't ride one now even if you gave me one. It was great fun for a few years but really dangerous looking back. I could tell you some stories.

A good video...nice to see a 'posting' from an actual owner who can explain what he's done to his machine! The paint looks excellent...as does the bright-work. (definitely not my color-scheme!) This 'OYB' channel has loads of good things on it...much superior to most of what I see on 'Tube.( of course, being an '08 Honda 'Metropolitan' owner (done in 'Gothic') I'm favorably biased to scooters and small bikes) My 'Metro' has had all the 'usual suspects' performance mods done...except for the exhaust which I prefer the way it came from the factory...(I hate NOISE!)

A bog standard li150 Series 3 will wheelie as I found out by accident. (Was the longest 50 yards ever to the next corner where I could pull over, out of sight of people, and check me balls hadn't been damaged for life!)😖
But a 'standard' TS1 should be able to wheelie with just a flick of the wrist in first at the right rev. Just make sure you have a spare half moon in your tool kit if you make a habit of it!

My 1960 series 2 will sit happily at over 70mph and still have some left to overtake. Was a 125 but now a GT 186, 30mm Dellorto and 50mm Gori raced pipe. It used to be good for 80mph with the JL3 race pipe but since fitting the Gori it been reduced slightly. It does annoy me that so many people think scoots are slow and cant compare. Oh and it does do wheelies!

Wheelies can be done on any scooter or bike irrespective of engine capacity.
Getting the front wheel off the ground is easy.
Getting it back down again gently, is the real skill.

Although stylistic and timeless, by design, that two stroke motor makes these things among the vilest of mans creations to ever be put upon two wheels.
