You say 'gaffes', I call it 'having a personality'. A quality that since Diana, most royals sadly lack. :p
What?? No. Diana would never do that. She is nice to people.
Earth+ He just has a particular sense of humor that's all
I love prince Phillip but don't compare him to Diana :v
Too bad, I just did now. :)
To be fair to her majesty she isn't allowed to have a personality.
Prince Philips so-called “gaffes” were delightful examples of British humor. He saw the absurd in every day life and poked fun at it. Only the thin skinned and politically correct took offense.
Thats why The Queen loves him :")
Well actually they have lost interests in each other few years aftet the marriage.

it is not duke's fault that the world turned into a ridiculous place where everyone gets offended. The Prince's sense of humor remembers times before the Benny Hill Show. That is the proper way. I salute you Prince Philip
All relatively harmless. He's got a sense of humor and the queen does too, doesn't she?
EyeOnTheTV The Queen has most certainly got a sense of humour and is a wicked mimic. Great at keeping a straight face when she is laughing inside.
She has to, since she's married to him and all.
And now he has passed away, what a magnificent man. Rest in peace prince philip.
It shows he is his own man with a great sense of humor! I like people like him!
I came here after hearing that he has already passed away. RIP to the beloved Prince Philip of Britain 1921-2021, you may now rest in peace eternally
❤️🙏🏽
Just taking the fucking pic! I'm too old for this shit! lol
Wang Bo + Agree! Poor guy. I'd be so annoyed too.
I think the Queen loves him for being so frank and funny. It balances her need for keeping composure, and he for sure doesn’t need to make a fuss and pretend to be someone else around her!
This man, the Duke of Edinburgh, was a serious badass in his youth and in WW2. He was a real James Bond.
All the gaffes make Prince Philip more human and he sounds like everyday is a fun day. But clearly his record also shows of his dedicated efforts of 7 decades with making the UK and the Commonwealth youth better people academically and physically, its industries and infrastructures more technologically adept, and its charitable organisations more robust. Also, his illustrious naval service in WW2 displays the courage and fortitude of the man. May you Rest In Peace & Light, after 99 eventful revolutions around the Sun!!! 👏👏👏🙏✊🏽✊🏽

Maybe not the most "appropriate" joke because Malala Yousafzai was shot in the face for advocating girls' rights to attend school. Glad she didn't take offense.
+Evenstar i dont even know this part.... so sorry to hear that
She's an inspiration, really. She was so young at that time, yet she was so brave and wasn't afraid to speak her mind despite death threats. It was a miracle and a blessing she survived the assassination attempt. Today she still continues to do what she believes in. One of the few people who actually deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

He's just honest. I saw no joke there. It's the truth. That's why they were all going crazy now, parents, during the rona lockdowns. Now they have a glimpse of what teachers go through all year long; but then again just a glimpse, because parents don't have to manage 20 to 30 kids in a classroom. If apparently they can't handle just their own (which is like 2 to 3 kids based on average)they would kill themselves if they ever had to manage the behaviour of an entire classroom of them. This pandemic just came to prove Prince Philip right.

His Duke of Edinburgh Award project was set up in 1956. His personal project to do something he was truly passionate about. To help the marginalised and disadvantaged youth all across the UK and now the world. He's helped millions of people develop many life skills. Helped people develop the confidence, connections and support networks to fuel their progression in life. And that project is still going strong today. Yet he gets criticised and called all sorts because of his jokes and quips. People of his generation were very much more actions than words. Today it seems we're the opposite. Someone can literally help millions yet if he tells a joke that offends then that's all that matters. The people who criticise him probably don't even know his Award programme exists.
Gaffes? These are gems.
