Hard to imagine that he's older than the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Martin Luther king, Anne frank, Marlon Brando, James dean, Audrey Hepburn , Grace Kelly. Wow must be nice to be rich and live long
Why is it hard to imagine that he's older than all those dead people? Do you mean its surprising he lived longer than those people? I would argue its not surprising at all. Marilyn Monroe could go either way but she had a history of mental illness. Martin Luther King was an inflammatory black political figure during one of the most inflammatory periods of American history. He lived in a time and place where ordinary African Americans were routinely being killed for no reason other than the color of their skin. The thing about Anne Frank is that no one would ever have known who she was if it were not for the circumstances under which she lived and died. Meaning that she herself was not a particularly special or interesting person but her story is special and interesting because of the light it sheds on a very dark period in history. Her story instead serves as a lens through which we can view the atrocities of the holocaust and understand them through an ordinary teenage girl. She probably did more in death than she ever could have in life. MLK and Anne Frank are victims of circumstance. Marlon Brando died when he was 80 which was 2.51 years above the average life expectancy for a male in 2004 the year he died. James Dean was 24 years old a famous actor, a sex symbol, and he had a penchant for driving fast. He's the classic example of live fast die young. Which coincidentally was the aptly chosen title of his biography. Audrey Hepburn died of cancer in her 60s that's not entirely uncommon. Grace Kelly had a stroke while she was driving at the age of 52. She was driving on a road with a steep embankment her daughter lived but she did not. I will concede Grace Kelly is the most shocking and unlucky death on the list of names you gave. The others can be chalked up to psychological factors like Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.
