Complete newbie to this - thank you for the video! You two are absolutely hilarious. Gave me quite a few laughs, thank you!
So many memories of my youth. I remember the quest for power in my model aircraft circa 1970, we didn't have winders but used hand cranked drills to turn the props. Soon we were adding JATO and teeny .010 motors to our model craft. Surgical tubing was the Tesla of that summer, BTW. What an outstanding video, thanks for the memories 😊
Wonderful video. I would have loved it even more If had had this video 55 years ago when I was a kid, but on those days UA-cam was not around. Thanks for sharing your tips.
I like the idea. Now, scale it up. Back in the late 70's I was flying C/L. To break in motors I built a Flat wing 36In WS Tethered plane. For C/L engines, there is no throttle, set the needle, release and fly. I have used the rig for my .46 BB engines set at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Five minutes of run time to warm the engine completely, then cool the air temperature. Do this 5 times and the engine is run-in nicely.
Wonderful, took me back over 60 years to my first rubber powered models
I flew a control line .049 Cox PT-19 this way by looping the line around a support post in the basement. Never thought of flying rubber powered models this way. Great way to fly scale rubber powered models without destroying them. Love it!

You ran a cox motor indoors?
@@themadscientest you can run a cox motor anywhere there is atmosphere containing oxygen. indoors, outdoors, inside another plane, inside a submarine, on the top of a mountain, in a cave (i don't know if this is indoors or outdoors). just be sure you have fuel and a battery to start.
@@shmuck66....but it's not particularly healthy to breathe in the fumes when you're indoors. I think that was the point being made earlier.
It is wonderful to see so much experience and wisdom and passion for this hobby.
Yes it is. Which so much bad stuff on the internet this literally seems sent from the Lord himself

Very cool, easily converted into science at home! We love this kind of stuff as it relates to mathematics and real creativity and fun.
Nice to see the AMA putting fresh young faces out there to attract a newer generation of members
Congratulation for this big projects education. I'm ready to learning.
Awesome information. Just getting back into the hobby. You're video is just the ticket.
Great video. I just purchased a rubber powered plane for my 3 yer old. She loves it.
Good men!! Simple sweet stuff they are teaching kids something important
Great info. And demo. Thank you.

Thanks for reminding me of the fun! How in the world can people NOT like this?
Excellent job
Thanks for the "floppy rubber" tip. I can now get a longer stable powered flight rather than a brief burst then glide!
I did some tests and found that with the same length band the energy stored is about the same, but the fewer loops you use, resulting in a floppier the band, the lower the power but the longer the duration.
Some people make propellers that automatically adjust the pitch of the blades depending on the torque, to try and spend as much time in the air as possible for competitions.
@@robambrose4199 Wow! Well above my pay grade I'm afraid !
Thank you for your video
Just did this with the kids. Thanks.
Used to fly the little Sleek Streek as a boy in the 70´s. Miss doing it. Would like something similar now but cant find it. Would be grateful for tips! Thank you!
Wow, this was really cool. We used to buy those little planes at 7-11 40 years ago. Guess where i am headed after work - I hope they still carry them!
guillow still makes them, they have since the 30's
those little planes made 9-11
I used to have those and the little gliders.
don't watch youtube while ur at work
Hobby Lobby carries them, I remember buying these rubber band powered planes at convenience stores for 35 cents when I was a kid.
Danke !!!
the man is so hilarious.
Jjajjaja espectacular muy ingenioso felisitaciones
Thank lots for sharing 👍 💚 💙 ♥️
Congratulations 👏 really impressive
Thanks great idea I love it.
Super well
Great for rainy days.
My apologies! I should not have used that term. However, to me, it is quite lengthy, before getting to the practical, actually useful information it contains.
these guys are actually really funny
Awesome 👍
Igot ideas by you to upgrade my plane thanks
Very good i Walter more ,man.
Very good

My grandpa woulda loved this shit. He made one before he died, but it was too heavy. UA-cam would have been so cool to him.
He's the Bob Ross of balsa wood airplanes.
Wow! So clever

Good morning from Brazil!
Please, what were the dimensions of the rubber strip? Super Sport 3/16" ? or 1/8" What is the loop length?:
Great show.
Hey there old dudes, if your still alive great video! I really liked the instruction and tips.
I'm a cool 50 myself. :P
At first i thought these two bad boyz were gonna start throwing hands ‘cause “Big Guy” kept calling Neil Armstrong wanna-be a stooge ... but they’re pretty cool ! Really enjoyed watching the video lads ! If u ever wanna do Metamucil shots at the local pharmacy & talk aeronautics ... 🤙 me
We need to go back to the age of the windbag.
Oh wait!
I used to put the paper clip on the bottom of fuselage changes positional which changes the lift
So great!
Pretty cool
I love your channel - CREATIVE CHANNEL
I'm thinking it might help if you rounded the square edges on the bottom of the body, and put a strip of tape down the length to make it smooth.
You can learn SO much from building and flying rubber powered models! Start with a simple design, such as a One Night 16 (excellent flyer, easy to build and cover) or similar type. Then maybe a scale model of a high wing aircraft like a Piper Cub or a Taylorcraft. Do some research. Learning really is fun, with model aviation! Get ready for some very long flights!
Xould you share this model plan ?
wonderfull
Bestttt
One step away from making a Jim Walker style whip model or a rubberband powered control line model. Great job.

this was really cool! will be doing this with my son.

Really cool, I will try this with my nephew! THANKS!!!
I remenber we used to by rubber from a cloths and pins store!
And for a winder I used a paper clip and my mothers manual hand held egg mixer!
I used to buy small balsa wood planes as a child in the 60's. I believe they were made in the USA. the models were called Sleek streak and Star flyer. They were simple and cheap and a lot of fun but they don't seem to be available anymore and I can't find anything similar. Does anyone know where I can buy something similar, I would be grateful!
cool
😄
Does it help to set rudder trim on these planes to keep them turning out?
Please,
What is the name of the plane used by Dave? What is the weight and wing area and span wing?
looks like a guillows jetstream but with ama prints
How do I wind up the plane's rubberband if I am alone? How would the propeller be held as I wound the rubberband with a rubberband winder?
Use a clip to hold the plastic prop to the plastic prop holder....like an office clip, here's an example amzn.to/2H3FbOk (but just make sure it won't squeeze your balsa wood too much)
Good luck!
I just went 25 years back!
What is lubrication and how can I use it?
Kis Chez ka banaaya he
Kids these days really are missing out by playing video games all the time.
I've been flying model planes for 55 years and I think video games might be more fun than what happened in this video.
ok muito bueno.

🛩️🛩️🛩️👌
I want to add with you all
Where do I buy this model?
Most hobby shops that sell RC planes also sell these
How do you calculate the wing span and the position of wing at cockpit ?
guess and check :) If it flies UP, then the wing will need to move back, if it flies down, move the wing forward. This will change the Center of Gravity (CG aka COG) to change the plane from nose heavy to tail heavy, and hopefully "balanced"
Use the stock rubber motor first and don’t put a full winding into it. Oh, and try it outside, no wind, and untethered. This lets you play with the wing position in a way that should not destroy the plane while you experiment. Just remember that the plane climbs when the motor has a full wind, and descends when the prop is slowing down,
Hahhaaa!! These guys really seem like they don't like each other
What is the accelerator used on the glue?
Lee Bowles the accelerator is to make the glue dry faster.

What happened to rhe delta dart?
This is a hammer gordon... no crowbar?
🤔🤔🤔
Why add a steel paperclip to the plane if you're going to use tape or glue anyway? Couldn't you just glue or tape the tether to the wing? Wouldn't a pin hole and knot do the same job without adding any weight whatsoever?
gual é as medidas do avião Chow de bola
That is the best plane but why for standart making and tky
working with a tree has become much simpler with Stodoys plans.
Your simplicity also reflects your internal beauty .
