  • A first look at the Black Square Analogie Beechcraft G36 Bonanza in Microsoft Flight Simulator - flying from Wycombe Air Park over to Oxford in horrible weather (which lets us play with all manner of toys in the cockpit along the way).

Thanks for the look. This one is an Insta-buy. Spent so much time in the Carenado Bonanza and this one is so much more in-depth, though it doesn't look as nice, without the brass switches and wood paneling and all. I appreciate that they implemented the KAS altitude capture & VS instrument correctly it appears. Carenado had this unit, but even when it was working as intended before SU11, it still was not implemented accurately according to the manual for the device and had some annoying behaviors. It's also cool that supposedly they've done accurate mixture control for a turbocharged engine, where many planes don't do that right (they lean like a non-turbo). This is the first Blacksquare Analog plane I'll probably spend a good amount of time in.

Carenados are very pretty, aren't they. I appreciate that everything inside the cockpit just WORKS in this one though :)

Purchased mine after your video. Will be getting the Baron too. Love the detail that Black Square puts into this. I watched another reviewer and there is a unique way on trimming your mixture using that information to the right. Also, this will not interfere with the working mod for the glass G36 which I use. When the Baron comes out, that will be four steam gauge overalls. Great stuff.

Yes - I need to look into the engine monitor - this was really a very quick "belt and braces" get it in the air video - ten minutes after downloading it :)

    It's an A36 now Jonathon. (A = Analogue, G = Glass). Likewise, the Baron will become an A58 from a G58.
Another great video by the way - I always look out for your videos and really enjoy every one of them.

The analogue Baron is not an "A58", it's the "B58". Also, the 'A' in A36 doesn't stand for 'analog'. The A36 has been around since well before aircraft could be classified as analogue or glass. The 'A' is just an in-house serial, with no other meaning than that. The 'G' in G36 doesn't stand for 'glass' either, it stands for 'Garmin' as the aircraft was jointly certified by Beech and Garmin, with those avionics as natively fitted. PS. I can completely see how it might appear that the 'A' is for analog and the 'G' is for glass. Just setting the record straight. 'Glass' is really just an informal adjective, used to describe such equipment.

Excellent vid Jon. The panel lighting and resolution was perfect for what you were demonstrating. With so many aircraft available in every genre, I struggle with not so much the cost of a given airplane, but given the learning curveof any given aircraft. The G36 is popular on MSFS, justifiably so with its performance and complex aircraft level; so based on your review, I’m in on this one.

Thanks so much for the video! The Bonanza overhaul is definitely getting a spot on my to-buy list. One quick heads.up about the departure at Wycombe, though. I'm not sure how dedicated you are to mimicking real-world procedures, but if that's your thing, then the pattern at EGTB has some noise abatement procedures you could try out. E.g., for a runway 24 departure, you'd turn left to 230° after overflying the fence at the end of the runway. That way you stay away from built-up areas. Going from 06 is a bit more complex involving a left turn directly after departure and another one at 1000 AGL - the AIP charts have more details. :)
Obviously, this is a sim and you're perfectly free to fly any way you like. Just wanted to let you know, in case you like simulating real-world procedures. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
