  • More than a year ago I declared I'd be visiting Calabria to check out the real estate. In June 2021 I had that opportunity. We started the trip in Scalea Calabria and stayed right in the middle of the historical center. This video brings us to Santa Domenica Talao where we tour a house for sale in center of town.

    Hi Dave! Thank you for your amazing videos of our village! It is so great to see it through someone else's eyes. The lovely house you show in the back of the village just sold. Next time you come, let me take you inside. It is all 1920's with the original cement floor tiles in multiple colors. The new owners are bringing it back exactly as it was in the 1920's and salvaging the floors. They will have a roof terrace with sea and mountain views and a gorgeous house when it is done. I am sure they would love to show you as it gets renovated.
    We are so enjoying your videos and I hope next time we can spend more time together. It got super busy but we so loved the time we did get to spend with you and your adorable family. Love you guys!

      Virginia, it may be easier than you think. American Airlines is giving enough frequent flyer miles to by an international roundtrip ticket when you apply for a credit card. You have to buy something with the card but it could cost under $1. If you go after we close on the purchase of my home, you could stay there. I wouldn't charge you. It's very close to the piazza. It isn't spectacular yet but you can't beat free. There is a strong spiritual feeling you get there. It is the most incredible place I've ever been. The people are amazing!!!

    There are so many towns in Italy, built on a side of a hill…where is the flat land, ? Nice viewing Dauvo

    • @ShweMyaukMyauk
      @ShweMyaukMyauk 3 роки тому

      Well these are medieval towns....so if you think about it, why people build on hills. Not for the vistas but.....you know the answers

    • @thetemptedvida8650
      @thetemptedvida8650 3 роки тому +2

      We have a lot of hilltowns in Italy basically for 3 reasons:
      1) 77% of the Italian territory is hills and mountains, and if you want to consider just the central and southern part of the country this percentage increases even more
      2) Back in the old days most of the valleys were not an healthy environment because of mosquitoes and diseases, plus the soil was bad for harvesting
      3) Historically establishing a settlement on a hill was important for strategic reasons, it was an advantage in case someone wanted to attack the town and the inhabitants could see them so they could have the chance to defend themselves as better as possible
