2013 Audi TTRS - The Baby Supercar (Review)

- The Audi TTRS is quite a particular car. With many unique traits, many wonder why Audi continues to produce it, especially in today's SUV based market. With a turbo charged 5 cylinder engine that sends power to all 4 wheels though a 6 speed manual, this car is purely for the enthusiast, and gives you a slight taste as to what its like to live with a super car.

People who love this car talk about its engine. People who dislike this car talk about its looks. I've had engines swapped out of cars all time. I'd have this car for the engine alone.
TT RS Not a car you see on the road all the time. very good review.
Been driving an Audi Quattro for 4 years. You learn how to prevent understeer. It murders corners.
The clutch slipping acceleration is cringe worthy.
You're right man! This dude can't drive manual.
At first I was like did he just not shift or something and then I was like nope he's riding the clutch wayyyyy too much.
Joel , nobody is riding a clutch because there isn’t a clutch pedal
@@rcryan7shmee ... that's a joke right?
I just assumed it was a dsg, since dsg is better
I love it especially because of how different it looks from all else on display on the streets these days, particularly the uppers of the tail end. Love the way the leather looks too...like it's thicker than the usual...doesn't have a bunch of little rumples and waves next to the stitching. Classy lady! I don't have one at the moment but am looking into a 'pre-owned' purchase...manual format of course. My C7 Z06 w/Z07 pkg has 'butterfly' valve for dual-mode exhaust. I keep #42 fuse pulled so she always sounds like 'cold start' mode = big difference! Not sure if this Audi also has valve control for the feature.
As an owner, it is amazing!
unbelievable sound.....best sound in a non-super car.
Nah, the golf R32 leaves it for dead sound factor.
@@davidryan5482 Heard the R32, pretty nice too, but IMHO R32 sounds too loud like it's more of an aftermarket exhaust thing. This particular TTRS sounds much more refined and I like that it's not crazy loud but still has that deep tone.
breakaway2x Owned the R32. Now own 2010 manual TTRS. Problem for the TTRS is it only sounds good above 4k rpm. Yes it is sweet at that RPM But at that speed my licence is gone. 🤣
@@davidryan5482 interesting.....yes, that is a good point to mention that the sound really only comes through over 4k rpm. I have a 2013 VW Scirocco R Apr stage 2+ now. Just out of curiosity, do you know anything about fixing intercooler hose leaks? If there is a small leak when I accelerate, would that cause acceleration lag issues?
breakaway2x Any degradation of your car will cause performance issues. I service my car every 6 months, whatever it needs it gets.
Ha! Thanks for the review, I'm the new owner 👍
Nice, enjoy it!
really? :) gratz
This is an odd question but do you fellas think I can fit in one? I’m 6’3” so I’m not really tall but I didn’t fit in a first gen TT.
@@axe2grind772 I am wondering if I will fit in to one I am a bigger built man and I don't know if I will or not lol
How’s it been??
He dragged the clutch a little in a car he's never driven. Ease up y'all. It takes a few minutes for *anybody* to get used to the engagement in a car they've never driven. WAYYYYY better to drag the clutch a little at first than violently stall.
Thank you for the kind words!
Incredible sounding engine.. when the clutch is being used properly! Good video but give the car a test drive first next time so you can get used to where it bites man!
I can smell clutch from here. But one of the better car reviews/channels.... so no hate from me.
Been driving mine for 8 years. Never regretted it. Chipped it with Stasis early on, and it’s never let me down in a challenge.
Is it a reliable car? How's the maintenance? How expensive being an Audi? I'm debating on getting on ..
@@metaljar021 I’ve had very few issues. The battery finally died after 8 years, but I replaced it myself for $200. Did decide to get the equipment to recode it, just in case that has an effect. The only real problems I’ve had were with the AC, and I don’t know that that’s Audi’s fault. Supposedly, it’s just a slow leak, but I’ve had to have it fixed twice in the last 4 years. Audi did want $8k for a new compressor (parts and labor) with no guarantee that it would actually solve the issue, but I’ve had no problems doing 3rd party repairs. Dealership service is definitely expensive. One wheel speed sensor needed replacing, which put the entire car in “safe mode” until it was fixed, which limited the power. $15 replacement part, did it myself. It does have a tendency to drink coolant, which I’m told can happen with Audis. Never had an actual issue because of it, though. Terrible on gas, especially in sport mode. If you really push it, you’ll actually see the needle move lol. Awesome car, honestly.
@@DomDomPop hey thanks for your response, I appreciate it. Damn that 8k price gave me goosebumps lol. I'm debating on the TT or a Lexus. Thanks again for the input!
Was gnna buy one for my 17 year old daughter as a first car , ? But I have taught her how to drive in my rs6 anyway so she's used to speed ,you think it's a good idea ?
@@rs4rs669 mate give her a powerful car 🤣🤣 I’m living in the uk and we ain’t aloud to insure them kind of cars for a first we can only drive shitty 1.2 cars without getting bummed on insurance
Engine music for the Driver's Soul.
Personally I think these cars are great looking why people hate their looks is odd to me but hey...
