true self confidence comes from self esteem (especially for autistic people), false confidence comes from appearing to be somebody which is easier to do for neurotypicals and not so much for autistic people. Even women who camouflage well struggle with self confidence until they embrace self esteem. But in order to have self esteem you need to understand yourself very well. Which is why late diagnosis can be really tricky cos we created our social personnality on false confidence in order to survive (with all the consequences that go with it...). Thanks as always for your great videos!!!

I feel like I lack the confidence to tell my parents about the job I want because I’m worried they’ll say no and I feel the need too add that I do have ADHD and autism.

As a Mum of a 16yr old I would like to say that it is your choice and not your parents. Your parents should want you to be happy, and if they don't, then you may need to find some other supportive role models. So follow your heart. However, even if you get pushed down one track, that isn't the end. You will have decades of adulthood to retrain and go in many different directions.

Especially if you're not heard in your own family while growing up and what you say gets ignored, I truly had to love myself and didn't realize that I didn't until others who knew me kept saying love who you are, big wakeup call that i needed

All forms if autism is an evil condition that should be prevented and treated at all costs. The amount of People saying there shouldn't be a cure is criminal

I stopped caring how people see me, and it really does help in making me feel better about myself. I used to suppress my stimming to please others, and now I allow myself to do it

youve got to overcome the anxiety of what you think other people are thinking of you. I had that moment when swimming with my shirt off for the first time lol i had worked myself up to it for a while.

I’ve shared all your videos with my son/daughter in law, who’s two grown sons both have Aspergers, one autistic and ADHD with seizures since infancy he’s 33 now, very sad. The other is high functioning, is 22 he’s a welder for Volvo, but struggles socially…You have helped me understand a lot, so I’m passing it on. May God richly bless you for caring and sharing 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

It took me a long time but I love me. I am starting to love my mind too. Being nicer to my mind especially. It took being brave at first when I started to want to actually live and try to be my best. I love your channel and relate to most of your content.

I wish the job market and businesses were more forgiving and understanding of this. I've always been mediocre to horrible with job interviews, usually getting lucky to land an entry level job. The last two long-term jobs, i got them either because a family member works there and referred me, or I got in as a temp. Both jobs, I had to really take advantage of opportunities, that I wouldn't see from the outside, to rise through the ranks in order to make something of my situation.

🎩Hi. I had that problem just yesterday. I’ve been wanting to take my flute to the woods to play for ages, and I finally got up the nerve to do it. But when I got there, there were other cars in the car park so I totally bottled it. And then when I was in the woods I just thought what have I done. I get this all the time. It’s a horrible feeling.

I would have loved to have listened to someone playing the flute - although I would be disappointed if you didn't have loads of wildlife sat listening to you.

You know what gets me? Is when you go to join a group on Discord, and the group all encourages you to be yourself (and tries to convince you that they experience the world the same way as you do), and so you go and be yourself; and guess what happens? I introduce a new concept that they never heard before, they laugh at it, make fun of it (and make fun of me for identifying with the term), then try to invalidate the term, and after making fun and being rude they go: "Oh we just being silly . . ." (to excuse the rudeness I guess). And you know what happens? I start pulling away, and they start to assume that I am just too sensitive, and then seem more timid about chatting with me; and our whole dynamic that we had going on is ruined. And it feels like I am the one to blame for just not letting people treat me as a punching bag; I don't understand it! And I find that most often, people don't treat each other that way, but they will treat ME that way, and then seem to get caught off-guard, or act like they're the victim when I say anything about it (if I say it too nice and sweet, they don't take me seriously; if I am too cold, they don't want to talk to me (I wasn't being right out blunt about it either)). I don't understand the temptation that people have to disrespect somebody. It's as if they feel like they have to walk on eggshells, just because I am not going to allow them to make fun of my Autism and sexual orientation (demisexual). Why do people feel like they have to walk on eggshells if you tell them not to disrespect you? Is it THAT difficult to just show common sense mannerisms? Do people feel THAT great of an urge to act disrespectfully? If so, why?

Because NO ONE cares about your sexuality. No one should even know what you do with whomever. Keep putting your sexuality front and center, and people will keep pulling away. Bedroom habits should be private

I'm isolating. Its a bummer too. Cuz I can't strike up a conversation for sht. Especially now that explaining myself seems pointless. I'll be alone on this couch for like three weeks. If someone checks up on me and they haven't been this year. I think they're sick of me.

My self esteem is below zero. The n.t. people in my neighborhood decided years ago that I am rude, crazy and scary, whattt??!!!, scary!!!
The NT's are bullying me for years and years. When I get meltdowns because of their bullying, they say that I might be dangerous!! I really wish that the NT's will educate themselves about aspergers. They know absolutely nothing about it!!!
    The NT's are scary themselves

Does being on the spectrum, and growing up in a family that abides by a high control group, have effects on your self confidence? I wonder which can be which sometimes.
