To be fair I think play style has a lot to do with it too. Japanese players tend to play out more neutral and methodically in general, I dont think Tea or Zack was expecting Sparg0 to have so much explosiveness AND precision to his gameplan. Not to mention Zack's first MU experience against Aegis were the 2 best players in the world at piloting them. That being said Sparg0 has definitely grown to be a serious threat to the meta. I used to be a doubter and Im not afraid to admit I was wrong. Kids incredible. Hope to see Japan bounce back though

I won't argue that sparg0 is better than Tweek or not. But Cloud has a way easier time against Pacman than Diddy. Any swordie has an advantage vs Pacman, let alone one with projectiles.

Watching Sparg0 destory the likes of Tea or Zackray is legit jaw dropping. He improved so much from grinding Wifi during Covid.
I hope Sparg0 gets to fight Proto in bracket soon, would make for a excellent set. Also, would be sick if Smash Summit invited Proto to Ult Summit 4 imo

It's crazy to think that pre-pandemic players like Nicko, Larry Lurr, Charliedaking, etc were giving Sparg0 a hard time, and now he's become a consistent top 10 threat.
Cloud was seriously holding him back a ton. Glad Pyra/Mythra worked so well for him, and he still gets to use Cloud occasionally for favorable matches

No. Pre-buffed Cloud was holding him back. Buffed Cloud had a few adjustments that massively improved his kit and disadvantages while encouraging his main mechanic, limit.
He is more complete than Inkling (that character badly needs kill options and a change to their ink mechanic).

@@justice8718 he dropped Cloud to secondary for a reason. Cloud is a bad matchup for pacman, that's why we see it here. If Sparg0 could pull off top 10 results with Cloud offline then he wouldn't have dropped him as his main this season. Nothing suggest Cloud has become solo viable.

From what I've read, Cloud is known to be a really bad matchup for Pacman. Cloud is DEFINITELY not a viable solo main at this level, he's matchup specific. The fact Sparg0 has turned him into an occasional secondary in favor of Pythra and his results immediately shot up is plenty of proof.

That's not to say he's carried, though. Leo tried using Pythra too and it just didn't work out that great him, and he's the best in the world.
But Sparg0 definitely went from struggling to make upsets on pgr players to instantly being a top 10 threat himself when he switched over.

Even if Tea had reset the trampoline, Sparg0 still would have lived because the trampoline would have been below him, AND Tea probably would have died as well because from that distance he would have had to use all 3 bounces, and Sparg0 would have taken the third bounce. So he probably thought about it and chose to live instead.

sparg0のクラウド、よく見るとパックマン対策がすごく出来ている様に思う。
・常に中距離にいてプレッシャーをかけ、パックマンにアイテム作らせない
・アイテムを作られたらガード多めに立ち回る
・消化器はすぐに剥がす
・消化器を作られてパックマンがアイテム生成を始めたら無理に付き合わない
・パックマン側の復帰阻止は読み合いだが、こちらもパックマンの復帰に空下を合わせて撃墜を狙う
消化器とアイテムを封じられたらパックマンは少し機動力のあるカービィと変わらないので、立ち回りはクラウド側が大分有利になるのかもしれない。
sparg0はロボットもクラウドでいけると言っていたが、恐らくコマに対して同じ考え方をしているのだと思う。

After this tourney, yes I think if a PGR would've been made at this point Sparg0 would be 2nd, he's extremly consistent and was able to take down 2 players that beat him before in this tourney. We'll see if anything changes in the future though, Summit will be very interesting. At the very least Sparg0's top 3 though
