If it was breaking like that in Galveston, you know it was really good down at Bob Haul Pier (near Corpus) and S. Padre Island (near Brownsville) in southern Texas. The water is extremely shallow in Galveston and its very hard (very very hard) to get steep, vertical waves there. While on the other hand, the water gets deeper much closer to shore along the Coastal Bend and far S. Texas. That allows for waves with a lot more of a punch.

South Padre had the goods, bob was so so from what I heard. Surfside was wayyyy better than this.
It was a Cat 4 too, just a weird swell angle for Galveston.
