The concept of someone using kids to lure people towards their death is pretty creepy in it's own right. Especially since even if the Black eyed kids legend is false, it wouldn't prevent such a trap from being attempted.
I have my own story about one of those black eyed kid things. Happened when I was a young kid, about 5 -7 years old. I'd be asleep on the couch in the livingroom and sometime in the middle of the night a kid would wake me up and ask me if I wanted to play. I swear that kid's eyes were black. I being a kid, thought about it! The fear of waking my dad scared me more than my willingness to play. I said "no, pops (my dad) scares me more. Now go away." This would be a nightly thing until I was closer to being ten years old. No other kids lived at my dad's house....its weird how that was the routine for so long
@@BeastiicKofficial Well, whatever it is, it's still at my dad's house. He hates being there alone. We all know there's something wrong with that place.
@@heyimstarlord6 I don't care enough to. I'm also operating under the idea that my dad attracted whatever it is that's been there all these years with his own actions. I personally have no fear of it.
I live in Abilene, Texas as in the first story, after the speakers, my sister encountered a couple of black eyes children after closing up shop at the local subway that she worked at. Fortunately I had shared the phenomenon with her previous to her own experience so she was able to avoid the situation without negative consequences.
I don't recommend you go around recording and asking for things to come forward. At 17 my cousin and myself decided to try "ghost hunting" and after catching creepy voices in a language we didnt know, an outline of something tall- not human shaped drawing it's arms up and shooting out of frame of the camera and a picture frame flying across the room we noped tf out of that. It's not a joke and after that experience I would never do anything remotely like that again. I think sometimes bad things can be drawn to that behavior.
@@texasrose2315 I made one of my own and after a few uses I started having nightmares revolving around the Ouija board, people dying, and me being left alone. I stopped using it for a while, though I thought it was coincidence so I started using it again, hoping to contact my grandmother in order to apologise for not making it to her funeral. I got another nightmare that night. I’ve been drawn to the supernatural, but I feel like my higher self had protected me those few times, and that I was lucky.

Fantastic podcast, I love your Talking Till Down series. Your conversations always sound so natural and interesting, it feels like being with friends at the pub. I almost needed to put the lights back on for this one, though: scary stuff! Black eyes aside, kids can be very strange. My second cousin Marie, whom I only see once a year, was always described by my family as being a psychic. I did not believe a word of it and I wondered why my usually cartesian folks did either. And yet when Marie was 7 or 8, she walked to me and asked 'why are you crying inside?'. Back then I was severely depressed but hiding it well behind a smile, expecially on boxing day. She barely knew me but I swear she could see right through me. She also confided to me and said that she was worried because sometimes at night, she would 'leave her own body' when she slept and wasn't sure how she could come back. Marie is a teenager now and I don't know if she still has those abilities, I live abroad and see her even less.
God help any lil kid that comes to my house late in the evening,ACTUALLY in need of some help..cuz I'm definitely not answering my door!! Lol 😂 poor lil bastards better hope my neighbors r home. Lol
Regarding the way Brian Bethel worded his story: I actually saw an in person interview with Brian, and he talks the same way he writes. Very proper, structured way of speaking. So that could account for the wording of the story that comes across almost as a fictional story story. That interview with him was probably 15 years after he wrote that email with his retelling, and he still stuck to every aspect that he mentioned in the initial story. I’m not saying that should prove he’s 💯 telling the truth, but I feel that it gives him a little credibility.
Here I am, on March 29 2020, self-isolating and quarantined. Little did these guys know, at the time they posted this (on Feb 6 2020) , what was in store for the rest of the world a month later. And so I now self-soothe with stories about BEKs, the lesser of the two evils😐🤭 😜🤣
Stick man! There is a brilliant creepy pasta featuring apparent stick men. Cornbread and Dark Somnian have both done amazing versions of it - check them out!
OKay, Many years before Bethel's story of the Black-eyed kids story, I read another story by him that he had posted on an old website that collected supposedly true paranormal stories. That story freaked me out because my kids were young at the time. That first story was about him as a child. He was staying with his grandparents and the TV had turned on my it's self and he was unable to wake an adult and the Tv resolved into a sesame street type program. Playing and mumbling, the creatures motioned for Brian to come tot he screen when he shook his head refusing, the creatures showed real and sharp teeth and became insistence. He ran to the front room where that TV turned on and the monsters were angry., and insisting he come closer. He screamed and after a minute his grandfather came and got him, the Tv turned off. This story stuck with me enough to remember it and his name years later when he went viral for his BEK story. Now that doesn't completely negate the possibility that his story is true, but it makes me lean more to it being, as you said, maybe a creative writing exercise. Or he is more prone to encountering strange beings. Take it as you want. I'll see if I can find a link to the older story.
Would love to see a creepy Swedish chef. Maybe he could serve some creepy pasta? As my pals between Alloa, Clydebank and Fit Like know, I've been serving up some creepy pasta in my time that would make for creepypasta in its own right... 😉😈
Commenting just after the point about Mennonite kids: when you mentioned men in black, then described the haemorrhaged cat, the dizziness and headaches, nosebleeds etc - it made me think of radiation sickness. The reaction and then fate of the cats and the physical symptoms sound really suggestive of radiation sickness. On the subject of black eyes - does the fear suggest black eyes, it are the eyes really black and inspire - most people’s eyes would look black at night, wouldn’t they? Expanded pupils to let in as much light as possible, in very pale faces (minimising the effect of the whites of the eyes) - all together creating the illusion of people with completely black eyes.
Good point! Expanded pupils and possibly also the shadows cast in human eye sockets in a dark location lit by sodium vapour street lights/site lights directly overhead. Doesn't explain sightings in well lit rooms, but the "classic" style encounters take place on lonely nighttime streets and multi-story car parks... These environments have several factors which could help plant the suggestion of "black eyes" once people are creeped out and primed to look for them by hearing previous stories.
Loved yer refreshing, hamely blether on BEK. Now that I am currently based in Germany, working in Marburg which has things in common with Edinburgh and Stirling but can't travel to Scotland for the time being owing to yon bloody Corona shite situation; eerie, eldritch matters discussed in heart-warming, hamely Scots accent is as welcome as a peat fire, a bottle of single malt, a box of Tunnock's and a set of cans of McEwan's (and another can of IRN BRU the other morning). Since youse mention Edinburgh cemeteries, I loved to visit them at dusk or at night after the pub, like Greyfriars when I was based in Marchmont, after a few pints at Sandy Bell's... When I was biding in Aberdeen, I loved to visit the old graveyards too - and even Marburg which has a steep hillside old town and castle has its fair share of old cemeteries, part of which even creep me out in daytime; especially when the local equivalent of neds in their hoodies gather there: about as scary as BEK... 😉😜 Lost Boys.
Towards the end, revealing that Brian and John were possibly both paranormal investigators - if you can find dates on the original story, it should be possible to cross-reference with newspaper reports of the crash and an obituary. Possibly even a police report. (Goth era - mainly 80s with a bit of a resurgence in the 90s 👍)
At the end of your video, you mentioned shadow people. I used to see them a lot as a child! Usually at the dunes or things like that, at the edge of my vision. I also had an unfortunate habit of stumbling across corpses or other things like that. Literally, in some cases. I can't remember most of it, because the shadow people were a daily occurrence, but the fact that I don't see them anymore makes me wonder if maybe they were some sort of trick of the light.
I saw the interview with Brian and HE WAS SCARED. The Mennonite people dress plainly but the children in no way act weird, or disrespectful. I would say the last thing they are is demanding. They are shy but they are the most well behaved children I have ever seen. Nobody could ever mistake which child went with which group.
I think u guys r smart for remaining skeptical and looking for scientific ways to prove things, but id like to add that some people are more connected to paranormal events or see them where others don't and we are attracted to scary things yet have a very level headed approach at the same time. I keep in mind that when the need to believe increases the ability to see truth decreases, yet know for a fact some of us just have more experiences we can't explain...(and I have tried to reason in every natural way available) I can only surmise from my years of trying to find the truth that there is indeed beings..rather interdimensional, extraterrestrial or tulpas etc. that exist. I never had a B.E.K experience. I am what is referred to as "Ghost Bait". Apparently energies are attracted to my energy or my energy interacts with inert energy or something. Sigh. But I don't go ghost hunting. I tend to avoid haunted places if told about them because I don't need that kind of oppressive feeling, emotional upheaval, and draining feeling. Someone suggests finding ghosts and I tell them "I don't have to. They find me." But not the kind that people see in horror stories or even Halloween stories. I sense energy, not thinking people. I think too many people are swayed by Hollywood and such into thinking ghosts are sentient living beings, when it's really just energy interacting (physics). Of course, I've heard accounts from others about their psychic experiences or other things, but I'm not so sure. I've had so many things happen, i think some of it might be misunderstood. It's the ones I have with witnesses, especially animal witnesses, I tend to believe the most. Sorry, I sound like I'm babbling. Just addressing the idea that someone having a lot of experiences might be imagining or misunderstanding. I agree to an extent. The person sensing really has to take things and look at all possibilities. And seeking fame and fortune? Nah, too much effort and trouble to try to make money off going to a place where I get sick, terrified, or drained. I'd rather work my office job, thank you very much. But I am a believer with a skeptical streak.
Real depressed from work, the spooky is great, I would listen via patreon or my podcatcher but I pay for yiutube premium so it should support the channel more if I relisten here versus other way. Hope all is well BEK always freaked me out, even though its like a variation of the vampire legends, they're something unnerving about evil children hah
Seen one on a foggy, 30° drizzly dreary morning on a country road - we spoke to each other and as "she" looked up at me from under her hoodie I had instant flight or fight and hauled ass in terror from this encounter with a 10 or 11 yr old "girl".
Timothy Alberino on his channel addresses the black eyed kids. He believes that they are hybrid human/alien results from abductions. If you listen to him, he makes a lot of sense. I live near amish country in Ohio. I've had a bit of exposure to them and they have never seemed evil or spooky in any way. Other than cutting prices for their work, causing my prices for the same work be hindered. The ones I've met were very kind and would share what they had with you.
Yeah I've had my own experiences with this when I was little. I was at the babysitter and felt something watching me and heard something call my name like whispering and I turned around and seen a dark phantom person pure Darkness I knew it was pure evil. It had a human form but just pure Darkness blacker than black!!! Something prevented it from attacking me!! I believe that Jesus angles protected me even though I didn't see those!!
In 1996 The X-Files was popular. What happened is he watched the black ooze episodes of The X-Files and remembered Children of the Corn and said, "You know what would be cool? If an urban legend was invented that combined those 2 things." And that's the real reason nobody ever heard of BEK's before the '90's. They weren't invented by hucksters yet.
Great point: I believe the "black oil" made its debut in an episode that aired in 1995 or thereabouts, so that image would probably have been as fresh as a 6am donut in Bethel and his readers' imaginations. -Martin

The story was part of an email discussion group. That's where it first appeared. It later became viral and appeared in books. We are discussing those claims, which is fair use. Being a writer myself, I would never steal someone else's work. I highly recommend going back and listening to what I actually said at around the 9 50 mark. Cheers.
I really enjoyed this until the fun sucking began. Personally I think the paranormal should only be provable to the individual by experience - otherwise it’d just be another boring science.
I can't stand the BS excuses that the one guy keeps making up!!! He completely ruins the stories!!! We don't need BS excuses for something we all know is real!!!
Richard, we're open to paranormal claims, but just blindly believing things with no proof makes it very difficult to distinguish what's real and what isn't. Try to be objective.

Sooo if they just kept saying their parents would be there soon.. how did their 'parents' even know where they were?
Real depressed from work, the spooky is great, I would listen via patreon or my podcatcher but I pay for yiutube premium so it should support the channel more if I relisten here versus other way. Hope all is well
BEK always freaked me out, even though its like a variation of the vampire legends, they're something unnerving about evil children hah
It's kind of like a true civilian will never refer to himself as a " civilian ".
This has got to be the best podcast I've found yet on the unusual, and I've listened to tons.
People say the children could be already dead and they are a type of paranormal entity.
I wanna know the movie theater parking lot Bethel was at
After a while I’m just melting with that accent lol. But great video 😬
I love this topic. I believe Brian's story.
I love your accents I miss Craig Ferguson's show so much.
😶😶 Thanks guys, love listening to you, so happy to find this podcast. Your entertainment is greatly appreciated!
HIS ACCENT IM IN LOVE
In 1996 The X-Files was popular.
What happened is he watched the black ooze episodes of The X-Files and remembered Children of the Corn and said, "You know what would be cool? If an urban legend was invented that combined those 2 things."
And that's the real reason nobody ever heard of BEK's before the '90's. They weren't invented by hucksters yet.
Great point: I believe the "black oil" made its debut in an episode that aired in 1995 or thereabouts, so that image would probably have been as fresh as a 6am donut in Bethel and his readers' imaginations. -Martin
Something is either true or false. What you say could be true, but saying so is not proof.
Theres actually BEK tales from as far back as the 1930s....Brian Bethel wasnt the 1st person to encounter them
@@annieb3883 Really? Tell us more and blether away! As the Gaels say: "A' cheud sgeul aig fear an taighe, agus sgeul gu latha aig an aoigh." = The first tale by the host, and a tale until dawn by the guest. Which, after all, is all Talking Until Dawn is about!
There was a UA-camr who had discovered a sound that attracted black eyes kids and other things and he had posted videos of his encounter on UA-cam his channel is gone can't find him or any trace of him and his videos anyone knows who I am talking about
About 20 years ago My mum saw a little boy sitting in a tree about 2am in the morning coming home from her restaurant. He was about 4 years old, she said he looked very pale. The taxi driver she was with saw him aswell. They stopped in the taxi and the boy was just sitting there in the tree and staring at my mum. She woke me up when she got home as she was really freaking out.
He has been seen a few times before by other people. The house next to the tree he sits was a children's home many many years ago and I did some research and found a little boy about 4 hanged himself in a tree near the home
@MARC B - you read a newspaper article about a 4yo boy who hanged himself? A 4yo?
It would have been a good little story if you hadn't invented the bit about a 4yo hanging himself!
@@MrSpanks true story pal used to be a children's home where the boy was seen.. You do your research pal about boxbury house and see im not lying
@@MAKO_0970 As I said, it was a good little story!
I just find it hard to believe that a 4 year old boy successfully hung himself.
@@MrSpanksyep I never made it clear it was accidental messing around in the trees as kids did a long time ago.. Anyway why would I lie about it??
First time listener and I have to say the sound of two scotch fellas waxing lyrical till the wee hours is parts compelling entertaining and (Important for this wired prick ) relaxing you have dulcet tones
Ugh. Hope I don't run into any
Scarcely running through the forest quick feet trail behind, do not look back or they will take your eyes

It’s called The Children. 2008 British horror film.
@@davidkelsey5739 omgggggg yesss that is the movie. Tnx tnx tnx tnxxxxx
The only scary part ot the first story is walking late at night unarmed.
Me on the other hand I would have mugged that kid, take his money and tennis shoes to get a couple of bucks.
I was a Black Eyed Kid but that was more a reflection of my arsehole stepdad than any supernatural disposition
You never told Me that Chipper
I don't tell You, everything Prince Ragemeister
Darts on Tuesday just a wee game eye 👁
finally some proper English, like just for the accent
@Bojana Nesic - English language, yes, but they have a Scottish accent.
Umm.... why were you two talking about girls magazines in the middle of a story?
Black eyed children are not fiction!!!
Hi raven i to love anything to do with becs creepy stuff xox
Saw a back eyed ups man one time. I let him use my house phone
Commercials kept killing the story for me. Too many adds
Hi Ken. Thanks so much for pointing that out! We had no idea midroll ads were on. I've deleted a bunch of them, so hopefully that should make for better listening.

Are they real
25:00 Telling stories in order. 😒
I think it was Bunty....the ..um .....pre...boy..fancying...uuhhh...anyway...carry on
I think you might be right. -Martin
The first email story wasn't an email you got, this story was written in a book. Your stealing material
The story was part of an email discussion group. That's where it first appeared. It later became viral and appeared in books. We are discussing those claims, which is fair use. Being a writer myself, I would never steal someone else's work. I highly recommend going back and listening to what I actually said at around the 9 50 mark. Cheers.
Your accent is charming 😉😊
The black guys children
Plot twist:
It’s one dude taking to himself the whole time

Won't be listening to any more of this channel!!! I can't stand the stupid excuses that the partner constantly spouts!!!
I take it you've never heard of the concept of the devil's advocate.
