Dude, I have the exact same kit, only difference is that I replaced the tom and snare batter heads with Evans Onyx, Emad2 on the kick batter and Evans Onyx with kick port on reso side. Love this kit.
Absolutely, I got the rainforrest burst and as well as looking incredible, they are built like tanks and are holding up just fine after 4 years of use.
I have a Mapex armory sunset and I literally think these are some of the best looking drum kits. It blows my mind looking at all these top of the line drum sets like DW and Pearl drum kit that cost thousands of dollars even some of Mapex top of the line drum kits and then look back at the armory. it looks even better in person. I don’t understand how they sell that kit so cheep my favorite kit I have ever owned out of the box sounds so good and punchy. If you are looking into this kit I would 110% recommend the armory is not a intermediate kit it’s 100% the real deal.
Hey Manny I’m glad you did this review I agree with you they are amazing sound quality and built so well you have to try the Evans hydraulic heads wow you won’t be disappointed
I bought more ne at $1069. I was very happy with that. I put clear emperors on the top. I used a Temo pwoersonic. Which is too controled. So I bought a powerstroke. I am very proud to play these anywhere. They sound, look and hold up great.
great review. Mapex has done great work creating these apex armory kits for the price point. Im a DW guy and when I say the armory kits are to me worth more for sound, build quality, hybrid shells, and hardware. Had an armory kit I gave to my fam for their ministry. New subscriber
what i did was change my mapex tom mounting tightener part out for a yamaha one on my rack tom so i can mount a yamaha tom arm to hold the 12 inch rack tom mapex probably up set about that then i mounted that arm to a gibralta stealth rack its a horse shew looking rack mount great for holding rack toms and not being attached to the bass drum, im using a pearl die cast hoop on the bottom o the 12' and a S hoop on the top of it ,. custom wood hoops on my 16 x16 ,. i had to build out a custom 18x16 bass drum i had to turn a 18x16 floor tom into my kick drum it has wood bass drum hoops and bass drum spurs yamaha ones on it ,. i also run 2 full heads on it with a super weighted drum pillow against the batter head and the rezo head no damping with a 5 inch hole then drilled into the side of the bass drum shell to port it ,. it can be miked there it allows the best sound thats full heads with enough air escaping with the 5 inch hole with at least the batter head dead a pillow towel super drum pillow, i use a powers stroke 3 on the rezo has super slight damping u could still put on a ring-ee coated clear ambassador i play another 22 inch bass drum i turned into a floor tom on the left side ,. the point is i modified my mapex armorys i souped them up with upgrading the tom mounting system putting great quality rims and heads onto them from there the round over bearing edges are mind blowing and the birch maple birch is the winning formula for punchy warm focused making the armorys a pro level kit i would like a saturn 2 kit as well ,. however the armory is crazy for the money its worth spending the moneys putting high performance hoops onto it, i think the job these guys did on the fishes of armorys are crazy your problem is like getting one as they sell out to fast mapex must be doing big great business offering these kits the thing is you just can not beat a fatty round over edge set up like they offer it really sets the shell off and produces a like able sound the volume the punch the warmth the response you can not go wrong owning one of these it checks all the boxes blended shells vibrate different the different characteristics of the woods blending together its,, really we suffered for decades with 45 degree sharp bearing edges not warm phat easy to tune drums that are not breaking the bank to bad,.. if you needed a full kit and played normal sizes like 22 kick drum then these kits are going used all over the internet for great deals ,. your not going wrong getting one there a peace of well crafted art work miles beyond what was available for top end drum kits back in the day there very very good
I love my armory. It is just amazing. I wouldn't trade it in ever. I would like to have the option of a bigger seperate bass drum and they could make money that way. If I won a billion dollars, I would get another kit, but I would keep my armory and treat it like royalty.
Also to add, I put pinstripes on the toms and emperor X on the tomahawk snare. I had to CRANK my bottom head to get the snare to sound decent... I think I just don't like it though. I think I like more of the warmth from maple and walnut snares. Still absolutely best value.
After my divorce in 2012 (I was giving my ex a ride from the court house-it was an amicable divorce 😁) On the way back, we stopped at GC and I ordered an Armory Kit ( 6 PC Magma Red with black hardware and added a 8"). W/O even asking the dude at GC got me a 15% discount. Back then they had the "Free" trade-in snare and If had seen this clip, I'd have traded it for one of those wood snares. If anyone's on a budget I'd still recommend the Mapex Armory or Yamaha SC. Both record really well, but the Armory is pure eye candy ! PS: I bought up my ex-wife because I had to sell a Pearl Masterworks (it was too noisy and taking up a room she needed 😞 and we spent that money on vacations 😓). Post pandemic I've added 4 more kits (2 Tama's, a DW(Acrylic) and a Mapex Saturn). I still have the Mapex Arnory(added 13: So 8,10,12,13,14,16). I like all the kits equally, but thought about selling the Armory. One problem, it still looks awesome with all the matching black hardware stands etc 🥰. plus the Mapex was half to almost 1/4 price I paid for the other kits !😛 Thanks for the upload, Beautifully recorded 🙏
PS: The Taiwan/China thingy, I dunno, the Taiwan made DW Design series goes for $1899 ish ? The made in China Tama Re-issue 4pc birch kit goes for $1999 . So yeah, the high quality Mapex Armory. is a real bargain at any level.
@@dilankarun9172 sweet man! do you have any pics or clips of that current setup? Also I forgot about tama and dw drums. when I stated mid 2000 - 3000 dollar range I was thinking of pearl masters and session studio drums lol.
@@eroddrums I do have pic's. Currently its stacked up. Along with the other kits. I have the Mapex Saturn (3pc) in a Hybrid setup as my go to. Maybe over the weekend I'll try and set up the Armory for pics.😁
@@Drumdre I think pdp concepts are pretty good, also have pretty good features. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for, do you prefer a mounted bass drum or virgin bass drum? Wood match snare or a steel snare? An all maple shell or a hybrid shell? And the finishes, pdps have some decent finishes, but the armory has by far some of the best finishes even compared to the highest end drums.
Mapex for life. Gotta get yourself some Saturn's. The maple and walnut is magical.

I agree with Emmanuel's comments that these are the best quality drums (for the price you pay) on the planet.

You are 100% correct. Best quality drums on the planet, for the $$ paid.
I do own 4 Black Panther snare drums, The Tomahawk and a Meridian birch snare and one old Tama aluminum. All good stuff.
I was happy when I bought it at $1069 in Emerald burst. So wow.
Sound, looks, and price it’s hard to beat Mapex. Nice playing as well. God Bless

That is a very good sounding kit, but especially the 10". 10"s for some reason generally choke.Excellent review.

750 for 6 piece kit is insane
