  • After months and months of drawing plans, revisions, permitting, and other hold ups- building this warehouse has been kind of frustrating; so it’s nice to show up and see substantial framing progress being made.
The guys started by bolting the pressure treated bottom plate to the anchor bolts that were put in when the foundation walls were poured.
They put a layer of sill seal under the plate to fill any gaps that would let air in.
Then the guys laid off their walls- they chose to frame the walls in place since they’re so tall.
Next, they put in the headers above the doors and windows.
Above the garage doors we used LVL beams for the headers- they are much stronger than conventional lumber.
The plans called for a 3-ply 11 7/8” LVL above each garage door, with 2 king studs and 2 jack studs under each end.
Some of the spacing was off on our anchor bolts, so I added Simpson 1/2” Titen bolts in these areas.
Because these roof trusses are over 60 feet long the framers decided to set up the first four trusses on the ground and brace them into place.
This way when they set this section of the roof, they will have a stable platform to brace the rest of the trusses to.
They carefully space out each truss and temporarily screw it to this beam on the ground.
You can see here how they used these steel jigs, that they had welded-up, to help hold the trusses in place while they braced everything together.
This roof gets 2x4 purlins with metal decking instead of sheathing.
They also temporarily attach diagonal braces with deck screws to keep everything from moving when it gets lifted in place.
When the crane comes, this entire unit will get set at the end of the building; then the rest of the trusses will get set one-by-one 4’ on center.
Let me know in the comments what questions you might have about any part of this project. ‪@hausplans‬

How come you went with traditional stick framing vs a pole barn setup? And do you know what the cost difference would have been?

In this day and age, I don't think there's too big of a difference in cost anymore with the lumber industry at an all-time high price and pole-style buildings being hyped up a lot condominiums garages, etc, etc.

Why no playlist for the warehouse series ?

We stopped naming the videos investment warehouse part 1, 2, 3 etc. because it seemed like people were less likely to watch a series. A lot of the videos being posted are still of the warehouse but we named them for the action being done. Like prepping a concrete slab.
But it would be a great idea to put all of those videos into a warehouse play list.👍 Thanks for watching

Can I ask why did you choose to wood frame your warehouse instead of going with a metal building?

For me to came down to cost, it’s easier for me to modify, and I find the wood buildings are better insulated than steel

@@hausplans Do you have contact information anywhere I've tried to look you up on the internet and all I find is Instagram I don't see an email or anything for your company. I'm planning on doing something very similar to what you did and if you're close to where I live maybe we could do business.
