    I had to let go of the "Niche" mindset. I realized that I was a whole package. I'm more than what I offer, Those that are for me will have certain things that they prefer but I realized that those that are aligned with me are open to my growth and will grow with me. I'm in the wellness industry but I own a business and it's my third business after selling my first 2. I want to educate my community in wellness but my experience in entrepreneurship is also valuable so I was like man, Here I am, take all of me not just parts. So no Niche for me! Just me! Love these tips E!

    this mindset is revolutionary to me! i was feeling so stuck in my niche (I feel like my audience only wants to watch instagram tip videos tbh) but I love your approach of making videos for a certain kind of person, not for a demographic or based on a niche

  • @adviceologie
    @adviceologie 4 роки тому +22

    I've never liked the concept of "niche" as it feels like I'm confined and limiting myself, but I have recently decided to "niche" down and it honestly helped me so much with staying consistent. However what I've done is exactly what you explained in the first tip and I love this target persona exercise, which I will do tomorrow to help make things clearer for myself.
    So my niche is personal development & lifestyle design, I focus on giving advice on how to improve yourself and live a happy, mindful more meaningful life. Having this "niche" still allows me to speak about my other interests, like fashion, art, organization !
    Thank you Erin for providing us with great quality valuable content all the time🙏🏽💖

    • @ErinOnDemand
      @ErinOnDemand  4 роки тому +6

      Yes! I do think having an overarching theme is still going to help pull all of those things together so it doesn't feel like you're completely all over the place. Ie - I still like cooking, fashion, etc. and figured out a way to tie it into my brand so it makes sense for my type of audience. BUT, you are ultimately your niche and that's the beauty of it! There's not secret formula besides being yourself. xo E

    Thank you so much for this Erin. When I started my channel 10 months ago, people were telling me that I need to be in a niche and that educational content is boring and that no one will watch. I carried on with being me and doing what I love to do which is educational and informative content. I started doing "getting paid online" videos for South Africans mainly because we are not really informed with it comes to online work. And my most watched videos to date are the informative and educational videos that I put up. Especially about working from home. So I appreciate channels like yours that help me understand that I'm not weird. And I'm finding my niche now and in that niche I understand that I can do a couple of things that falls under it... Thank you. Love from SA.

    Love the press-ons example AND the labeling of the anti-persona. My clients have a HARD time niching down (and I completely understand why-they're multipassionate like me lol). But I try to frame it in a way that demonstrates that you're targeting a WHOLE person, not just one part of them. So in addition to taking into account their demographics (sex, age, geographic location, etc.), thinking about their psychographics (how they view the world, their beliefs, values, priorities, hobbies, etc.) is equally if not MORE important.

    I definitely needed this video! I'm in the middle of rethinking who my target audience really is and how I can reach them. The problem I'm having is: the audience my business should be reaching, I don't know how to reach them because I don't embody that target audience persona. I don't know anyone like them either so it's hard for me to visualize what they like, how to reach them, how to effectively communicate with them. When I started this business I was in college so I underpriced myself and built up a college student audience, but after years of developing my craft & increasing my prices, I realize I need to be reaching a more financially set (lol) crowd. All I know is college, I graduated last year and the job I got I still work with people who are college age or fresh out of high school.

    This was REFRESHING!!!
    As a creative entrepreneur I stand by this approach. We can’t be limited by others claims on how it’s suppose to be. I believe holding on to this mindset sets us back and makes starting harder than it needs to be. Start First by making it work your way. Less pressure on the hows and how nots. More on tweaking along the way.

      We had the goal of only creating makeup tutorials, then we randomly threw up a video that was more relaxed, and “vlog” style, and that ended up doing the best! So now we’ve changed our mindsets and really love creating whatever we want! 😍

    Loved this! We don’t need to put ourselves in a box of one topic - I feel that youtube is about connecting with people, which means giving your full self; with some specialities/things that your passionate about that viewers can gain something from! You slay every video, I’m obsessed with your energy 😍 thank you for all of your tips x

    Im just starting out and I do not know what my niche is but I am focusing on making content that I am passionate about. I think it would make it less fun if I had a narrow down my niche because my creativity would be restricted. But I know my audience would be anyone thats like me or my friends.

    This was super helpful because i was getting so frustrated trying to niche down 10 times ... I just started UA-cam but have blogged for years where you create your avatar and idk why it didn’t dawn on me to carry that over into my youtube channel

    Erin, you are really so very helpful! Being professional from the very beginning is what attracted me to your channel. You are the only youtuber that I take actual notes from. You always have a short, numbered list of take-aways that are useful, unique, and easy to understand. Thank you! Now, I need to see if I can afford you because I NEED YOUR HELP! 😩Im about to let this stimulus STIMULATE my life!

    True, I too live by the " targeted audience" funda, then Niche, as it gives me liberty to cater to wide variety of content my targeted audience will consume.. My target audience is "corporate professionals and colleges graduates who aspire to be in corporate world"

    This was so helpful thank you. I was torn between my content looking all over the place or “niching” and niching on one small topic didn’t feel right. I’ve paid for $1k-$3k level coaching and none of them explained this as well as you! 💎 Having a theme plus the target audience persona is 🔑.
