I totally agree, I hate when small youtubers spend the whole 1-2 minutes talking about engagement when I don't even know if I get any value from the video yet!!! I stopped doing that and it's changed my performance a lot. Also I clap when I make a mistake or just pause and I can edit using the audio peaks and lows!
Good idea with the clapping part! Also, yes! It bothers me to watch videos with long intros. I feel ya!

Is it just me or does anyone else have an issue with "camera voice" ? Like I have my actual voice, but once I start filming I am either a Disney Channel actor or I am on the Nightly New Broadcast, there is no in between haha.

I think one of the biggest mistakes is new youtubers being scared to express their opinion fully. Im trying not to hold back the honest feelings I have abt the topic im talking about. Thank you, this video made absolute sense to me! ❤️

The reason some of us beginners start over every time we mess up is because we really haven't learned how to edit video properly yet. I agree with your advice, I just believe editing is scarier than starting over.

I heard that. If you want to do a different subject for a couple of videos. Just make sure to upload them one after the other. Instead of doing one odd subject, then reverting back, then going back to the new subject.
The only thing I'm wondering though, is what if you only have enough content on that new subject for one video?
I fit into the realm of a “calm” UA-camr which I also know can come across as boring. I’ve switched things up by changing my environment (my initial setup was me trying to be perfect) to one that’s more comfortable and allows my personality to flow a bit more. I have definitely studied your videos and implemented some things while making it my own. I’m almost 3 months in with being active on my channel and taking in all the tips to keep growing.

My channel started off barely getting any views for the first few months and then I changed the way I interacted with my audience and then I suddenly started getting thousands of views! Keep working hard and make sure to stay consistent, you WILL get there, it's just a matter of how much effort you put into your videos. Good luck everyone!
My one mistake to fix is stop getting nervous every time am about to shoot a video. I absolutely love every detail advice you gave. Very informative and motivating tips. I also have kids that mostly interrupts my recording time so that gets in the way sometimes of when am actually ready to record

Kamo , it's my problem as well, Also If I make mistakes I delete, delete and I say the word SO too much. I have so much in my head and as soon as I turn on the camera I can't remember what I wanted to say. Yes, I write it down but I don't want to sit and read a script because it doesn't look authentic. It's definitely not easy to speak to an audience and get your point across. It takes a lot of practice.

@@Miss_ramokoka I want to make sure I was clear about reading a script. Sometimes reading works. It depends on the content. I think I'm getting better though, because I finally decided to take one of my many skillsets or things I enjoy and make more content on the subject.

I haven't started my channel yet but I'm definitely a fan of that niche comment. A lot of UA-camrs I unsubscribed from have been doing the same videos since like 2012 and it's so repetitive that I don't care for it anymore. Experiment with your videos!
”If they like you the will subscribe”. As a new UA-camr I've heard so many different tips along the way about saying subscribe in videos but this does make common sense! I think I will change it up a bit now.
My biggest mistake was feeling like I needed to niche down too soon and so now I’m playing with the topics, the style and how I deliver my information...and I’m realizing that I’m starting to get more comfortable with how I like to present information... and the information I present. The Ebrand club is definitely helpful, I did a review on it!

The point about not restarting when you make a mistake is true. Just take a deep breath and start that section again, but as a slightly better tip, instead of saying 321 clap your hands twice quickly. It is actually far easier for editing as it shows up much more clearly on the audio track (it makes two very visible spikes). It is difficult to remember to do it at first, but you soon get used to it. It saves loads of time with editing later.
I genuinely love creating UA-cam content, it gives me a sense of joy to watch myself grow ,improve and challenging myself - your channel is where I come every time I need to get re inspired 🤍 thank you
I have to agree authenticity is key, but no matter how much they mimic you just know what's meant for you will be for you. So keep killing it Erin. Really appreciate all the tips because I am guilty of a few of them especially starting from the beginning when I mess up and I've been growing my channel for a while

I always thought the whole put a call to action in the beginning of the video before the audience even sees what if they’ll like it was weird, glad you said it though! That’s one thing I’m going to change because it just doesn’t make sense 🤷🏽♀️
That re-recording tip is very helpful. Cos it’s a time waster and you end up being paranoid to the point where you are doing a million takes elongating editing process too. Keep shining sis. ❤️

I used to start over when i made mistakes while recording, and it always felt so exhausting and demotivating...learning to start from where i made the mistake is one of the most valuable advice I’ve received on UA-cam

I feel like there's no cookie cutter way of doing this thing. I've seen many UA-camrs make all these "mistakes" and still be successful.
@@sherntell yes I agree. At the end of the day, like she said, people will subscribe if they like you (whether or not you remind them.) So, a person's intros could be raggedy but their personality/content amazing.
I have to say, long intros and over chatter can be off putting. I never stay the whole thing if the creator digressed from their main topic. I'll watch a 12 minute video in its entirety, if they managed to keep my attention...from the get go! Just be yourself. The right people will stick around

I’m going to start experimenting with different types of content that I enjoy making! I tried to really niche down to fashion videos but I’m going to experiment with some more lifestyle and vlog videos too!
Honestly, thank you for this advice.. so many youtubers said find your niche and keep that up, but when you said experiment phase things, it’s so helpful for my peace of mind.. I’ve so many ideas that not just one spesific content and afraid to make that content because it’s different type of video that normally i do but now you make me feel it’s okay to experiment many different content for my channel..
I was so obsessed with the thought that I needed to have the perfect gear before I start my channel until I finally decided, screw it I could just start with my phone! And true to what she said, the accessories like the tripod and mic are truly what makes the difference!
One thing I'm working on is trying to stop feeling like content needs to be perfect. I heavily script my videos just because I'm still not 100% comfortable in front of the camera (y'all should see some of my outtakes LOL). I also want to make sure I'm respecting my audience's time by hitting every point I intended to AND respecting my own time so that I'm able to shoot more quickly instead of drawing the process out. However, I definitely think I need to inject more of my personality into my videos and not worry about being soft spoken/calm/not energetic enough.

I’m going to take your advice and create an outline for my videos and GET TO IT before people lose interest. I offer a lot of value in my videos but people don’t see because It’s not clear to them why they should continue to watch the video.

I love the idea of experimenting and not to niche down. We could be missing out on big trends because we think we can’t do them. We could always niche down later when we find what it is our viewers are looking for from us. Thank you! 🙌🏼

I actually watched one of your videos before I started my own channel. From that video I learned some tips on how to position myself in front of the camera and how important that you have a good lighting. In this video, a mistake that I want to fix is trying to redo my recording from the top every time i make mistakes. True to what you say, it is a waste of time. i love watching your videos. Not doing UA-cam (yet), but my partner and I are in the process of starting a small business and I have found myself getting too caught up in the brand strategy and trying to make the business too structured when I should just go with the flow, start and refine things later. I love what you say about experimenting with your niche. So many times we are told that WE HAVE TO NICHE DOWN on UA-cam. I actually started doing skincare videos but I did this one video on Cardi B's Hair Mask (Four Week Update) and UA-cam picked it up for whatever reason. So then I switched to doing Black-owned hair care brands and doing four-week updates on those products. And I do know now that one of the mistakes I made is talking tooooo much. I have learned I need to give myself points to stick to because I go off on tangents all the time. Thanks Erin!
