Creating a target audience is one of the most overlooked, yet most powerful, marketing tactics. Many companies and entrepreneurs fear that targeting an audience excludes other people (who aren’t technically in their target group) from consuming their business. SO NOT TRUE. Any good marketing strategist knows that you can’t catch everyone, so the more refined your target, the better. In this video, I explain the power of effectively targeting your audience to help you weed out competition and generate more business. I give you the top three steps to determining the audience you dream to build.

1. Write down your identity factors - What makes you, you?
2. Write down your interests and passions.
3. See how you can combine your identity factors and interests
*Layering your audience is the best way. Ie. If you love African-inspired fashion and dogs, you may begin an African-inspired dog clothes line - instead of just doing a general fashion blog*

Wow so many things to say...
1) This video was exactly what I needed. I'm gay and a martial artist. I also love makeup and I've always thought I had to choose one thing or another and never looked at seeing how they could work together as an option.
2) As I watched this video, I thought about whyyy it was I was drawn to your content and while I may not be your EXACT target audience, I can tell you probably mostly cater to people between 18-30. I'm 23 and I think you really appealed to me because you had personality that came off as genuine but not trying too hard. You provided ACTUAL value. Your editing wasn't obnoxious but well put together...and you used lingo that I resonated with.
3) Side note: You are absolutely stunning. Those cheekbones are EVERYTHING lol.

This is so helpful. I used to think that I would want my content to reach everyone but I’m learning that I already know the main focus for my target audience which is millennial women.

Glad I found this. I noticed that over the years I've been getting men commenting "sexy asf baby" on a body appreciation video and derogatory things on my videos, and that my reach is 90% male. It NEVER occurred to me, that I was trying to get females to watch my videos, to help other women and inspire them and not try to pick up disrespectful men who are being trashy. It occurs to me now that I have to change the way I project myself on camera so that these men do not want to watch my videos. I would LOVE to have the male gender on my channel, but its being overpowered with derogatory remarks by creepy-type men. Their comments make me feel uncomfortable when I am trying to help other women embrace their beauty, innocence and bodies. I was thinking of switching to a makeup/beauty channel, so that *Disrespectful* men would be grossed out and not click on the thumbnail. I welcome men who are neutral and coming to my channel to not say harassing things or sexualizing/objectifying my videos, but it gets very discouraging seeing that all my videos only attract men who objectify women when the entire point was to help women embrace their bodies and learn about sexuality, energy and loving their bodies.
I think that is part of UA-cam, you can block persistant folks but yeah think about and speak to the women you are wanting to work with or inspire. Talk as if you are talking to her specifcally.

I'm also targeting my audience which I just edited in my ABOUT description. So I'm reviewing more of your videos, along with my teenage daughter! Lol Working on my equipment also. Thankyou for sharing. Lately I´ve seen more businesses rejecting customers pure only because they were not in their ideal target customer perspective. I had to leave a 1 star on Google Maps for a store and there were more people with me that did that. My message is just always to be kind to your customers, although they might not ´represent your business' , your product or service can be of great importance.
