Revell 1967 through 1970 Dodge Charger Kit comparison

  • Here is a look at many of the Revell / Monogram Charger kits. From the 67 to the 1970. The 67's share the same tooling from the 67 GTX, 67 Coronet R/T, 67 Charger. The tooling is very similar to the 68 and 69 Chargers and Daytona. The newest 1970 Chargers are all new tooling but very similar in design and exaction. That is why I included them in this comparison.

    No apologies necessary Raoul! Content like this is why I watch and why your channel is one of my favorites. Presenting all the parts offered and needed to build a proper factory stock musclecar with different options is a valuable service and inspiration to me. So far, I have only built a '69 R/T using the Landy '68 to give it a steel roof, built way back when in 2001. It is done in the same color scheme as your Daytona seen here.

      Thank you! It took me awhile to do this and also had to do it in sections. I knew it would be a long video. Plus I want to show my MPC Charger Annuals and compare them to a more recent MPC kit. I figured that should be a separate video. I spent a few hours going over the Revell kits and buying a few missing examples for this video even though I didn't really need them.

    I had forgotten about the Pro Modeler and the chopped roof issue and I happened to have had one of those issues on my shelf. This video had inspired me to pull out one or more variants from my collection to follow along with your chat. I was very surprised to find that my '69 Pro Modler kit was in fact the "chop top" version. I have multiples of the '69 Charger including spare bodies that I had bought for other projects like a Landy Charger that had come with a smashed roof. So if I build the Pro Modeler kit it may not be a vinyl top car. Thanks for the great videos, I am as stated before a dyed-in-the-wool Mopar fanatic. I have found that almost all of your info is correct, but when you have slipped up you have corrected yourself quite well. My Mopar cap is off to you sir! Sorry for the late reply on this one.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler One of the best cars I have ever owned was a '69 Satellite wagon. It started out as a plane 318 powered yellow wagon but over time I found the parts to make it into a Sport Satellite wagon. I found the grill and hood in a wrecking yard then the buckets and console from a friend that just happened to be the right colors
      I even found the dash speakers and the bar-style speedometer with the tic-toc-tach. Again a sad ending to this one too my ex got it in the divorce.

    After watching the whole video (finally) what I do with old decals is shoot a light coat of clear on them to help from cracking/separating.
    Also, I just scored a Dick Landy kit. Extremely cheap. Won an auction and i was the only one who bid so got it dirt cheap. Let's just say I paid the same amount to ship it as what it cost me. lol

    Do you think the headers on the 68 would match on Gm 350 396 or 427 engines or would it be incorrect. And the rear axle on the 68 is it a dana 60? and would it be the same as you would find on the revell chevelle cars or is it completely different just wondering 🤔

      @TheMuscleCarModeler  2 роки тому

      The headers would not be correct. You might be able to get them to pass on a GM 350 as the ports are in similar locations. 396/427 have completely different spacing of exhaust ports. Same for the Dana 60. It has a different look than the GM 12 bolt that would be in most SS Chevelle's. Chevelle's also have coil springs in the back and four arms for rear suspension. Mopar's have leaf springs, so that is a big difference as well.

    I was so ticked at Round 2 for releasing The Fast & Furious Charger using the MPC 69 Country Charger kit, Revell at least got it right even if Round 2 did include the proper 70 Bumper/Grill parts. You actually have to sand the grill sides and paint them body color for the model to look like a 70 as they used all the crap 69 parts and it looks way off. If you like Dom's 70 Charger get the Revell version and put a screen painted black in the grill, rather than deal with the AMT version which is a reboxed 69 and just horrid. Still think the AMT 69 charger is the worst kit ever put out by any brand lol. Great video as always!

      That AMT 70 F&F kit was real bad but came out long before Revell got the license. It was actually the first to get the corrected 69 body that was not the Charger 500 body. I always wondered why the 70 charger chassis and suspension parts are different from the 68-69 charger, i bought a case of the 69 charger when it came out I think it was 1997, didn't realize until a few years later that they fixed the body on it so I had a case of 12 chargers that had the chopped roof I still have em lol but I got 12 of the correct bodies to go with them now but, I opened a few of them to steal parts to do the dick Landy charger like you did. I have so many 67-70 chargers because for years the only chargers that were around was the dukes kit with the 500 body and that black MPC 67 charger unless you spring for a MPC 69 charger from 1969. I was lucky enough that my uncle gave his MPC 69 charger in the early 90s, I went charger happy when they first came out with all of these, I even built a 500 out of the daytona kit with you did.
