Also I know this absolutely isn't going to help because next stream will be the end of the game for sure (he does mention a potential future playthrough which I am all for!), but I only just noticed this after watching the most recent VOD; Pikasprey is very, very positive that a single fight takes up an hour of time. In fact I think he says it approximately thirty seven times in this VOD alone. That's wrong. At 24:25, you can see that the clock hand is facing directly up, and the yellow dot that marks the hour is right on the precipice of the purple early morning hour. Then he gets into a fight. At 25:15, the clock comes back; the yellow dot has not moved, but the clock hand has moved about a third of the way around the clock. At 28:20, the yellow hour dot is exactly in the middle of the purple zone and the clock hand is aligned with it. Then he fights Digitamamon. After the fight at 31:13, the yellow dot has not moved, but the clock hand is now further around the clock, again less than half, more than a quarter, about a third. Fights don't take an hour, they take 20 minutes. This isn't me reading some faulty information online, this is just seeing the information as presented in the game directly. I know this because I read about a glitch (because of course there is) where if the clock moves over the hour due to a fight, it messes with your Digimon's evolution clock; essentially if you get into a fight between XX:40 and XX:59, you delay your Digimon's evolution by an hour. This glitch wouldn't work if Pikasprey's theory of fights taking an hour were true, because then every single fight would trigger it.
Monochromon's shop is an acute example of why it sucks to stream this game: everyone thinks they know The Secret, but what they're really working on is something they half-remember doing when it happened to work randomly over ten years ago. They associate whatever random thing they've done with what actually got them through it, so you get so many weird things like "no no no, you have to specifically lower the price on ONE Muchomon and that will unlock the good RNG, I promise, I know this because I did it once by accident (I think) and it worked so now I assume that was what did it". And even if you tell them the game has been datamined relatively recently and so we actually do know what things were misinformation and what things were true, they'll still insist "nah the way I did it was right and that's just what I believe forever". Also as a small fun fact, in the modern Digimon TCG, there's a Weedmon card who's art depicts him in Monochromon's shop from this game, arguing about the price of a piece of Meat. He's holding the meat and waving it around and he has the exact same angry face bubble that you see in this game. Officially Bandai-branded Digimon merchandise that says "hey, fuck Weedmon, right? Fuck that guy".
For what it's worth, I don't think you sound angry all the time, per se. I think your sense of humor and such sometimes gives you a sarcastic edge that people might read more into, but that's on them.
Would be so down to see a Monochromon minigame breakdown, this needs to be thoroughly documented for the sake of the three digimon fans left in the world
Seeing you playing World 1 got me in the mood to go and find a way to play World 2 which supremely stumped me as a kid too and finally have a chance of beating a game that bullied me as a child. I'm about 20 hours in and I don't think I've ever seen a game so infuriatingly contrived and grindy for the sake of nothing. I can appreciate what it is and there's kind of a zen state you can get in when grinding, but there's no way a game like that would ever vibe with kids that could be playing literally anything else. Streamers nowadays make a living out of playing hours a day and I still can't recommend a game that I've dumped 20 hours in and feel like I've barely done any progress in. I'm yet to achieve an Ultimate level and that game has Megas in it.
Permagrind is only fun in streams if it involves some changing events or is short enough session to give that nostalgic farming vibe people had as a kid. Otherwise it is not really worth it for either content or streamer themselves.

With Muchomon, since it is 50/50 of him leaving no matter what it probably is better to just raise reroll for the highest possible sell value, since in the end no matter what you'll do he will hate it anyway.
I think I've always had a kind of skewed view of the shop mini game as the only times I've done it I've just been lucky and got enough medicine to do it in 1, maybe 2 trys but seeing this makes me realise what a chore it it. That and I obviously had the Shiny Pichu with a season 1 dual disk and season 3 Dranzer but who knows if that changes anything.
Fun fact about Digitamamon is that his finisher "Nightmare syndrome" has higher power than most finishers but has i think 50/50 chance to hit himself. Not many finishers have gimmicks other than hit hard, i think Giromon is the only other one that has a gimmicky finisher
I know it's not nearly as bad as Digimon World 2, but I don't know if it's a good idea to go for the third game as well. I also grew up with it and loved it back then, but 20 years later and I am just in awe with how grinding, boring and confusing the game is. But not in a charming way like the first one, in a srsly tedious way. There is A TON of backtracking and no repels. Fights can take forever unless you just raise up attack and nothing else and digimons can take quite a long time before getting any decent attacks. It has honestly not been a fun replay...
I think I remember accessing the Gear Savanna area through that longer route, but I think the boulder area would still be shut even from the inside. Idk, but its pretty neat if its not shut and I’d like to imagine your digimon just pushes the boulders out
I always thought the monochrome shop game was optional as in you don’t have to beat it, it just gives you extra cash without fighting, I always thought he’s already happy there and didn’t need to join the city. And omg you charged the lowest price with meat and they still leave I got that too
Last one was the same seed as one of the ones right before it I think. 5-6 meats in a row followed by 2 portas & then another meat to finish up. 20 customers & need just shy of 3100 so you need an average of a bit less then 155 profit each customer. If what chat was saying is correct.
It's because he's not advancing RNG much, running around does little. Praising, scolding, fights, etc actually advance RNG quite a bit, so if he's hunting for better seeds that can help.
Finally caught up on these VODs, hopefully I manage to catch the next stream (if I haven't already missed it haha) but if not I am eagerly awaiting the VOD!

Was wondering how much of the suffering you decided to cut for this episode. Looks like at least 1 hour and a half made it in. Out of like 3+.

I have a trick for Monochromon: Give a live sacrifice to an elder god and I get good RNG for this task.
A battle doesn't take an hour, it's like 25 minutes from the in-game clock.

So 3072 is an interesting number. There are 1024 bits in a kilobit, so you need to get 3 kilobits to get him to join your city!
This is why in the remakes you can toss bits in after the mini game so you get the prophet proper.
