- Skyrim is a game with an abundance of interesting characters for the Dragonborn to meet. However, not all of The Elder Scrolls 5’s npcs will be the most agreeable or fun fellows. Indeed, many of Skyrim’s inhabitants are quite annoying or otherwise not very fun to be around. Though these obnoxious folks are often times among the most fascinating. So today we’ll be taking a look at five more irritating NPCs you shouldn’t spare in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

*Laughs in "I just joined the Legion you drunken fuck"*
@@toadofsteel UNDERATED COMMENT
@@thepurpleshade486 no seriously, my first playthrough I was gonna be a Stormcloak, what with the whole execution thing. Rolff made me flip to legion.
If I'm not mistaken, you can brawl with him, then recruit him as a follower afterwards, or was that someone else from the Windhelm tavern I sacrificed to Boethia?
I've read that he's a possible target for thieves guild radiant quests. So I wait till I finish their "special" quests and then use console magic.
To be honest, I think the worst character to be around is the Dragonborn, an un-talkative, powerful murder machine who goes out of their way to avoid saving the world. What a guy.
Well I like the untalkative part, make them easier to relate to
He talks though
@@dr.elijah7742 Well, yes, but they talk by relaying messages via brainwaves. It's quite creepy, really. No one listening in really seems to care, though
@@antarath517 you are supposed to talk IRL when you read what the dragonborn says
rex king lol I don't know if you're "supposed to", but sometimes it's fun for roleplaying. If you were supposed to say everything your character says out loud in real life, you might get a few.... _looks_ from family and friends for talking to nobody
Rolff Stone-Fist: Dark elf must be an imperial spy!
*Imperial walks past in full imperial armour wielding imperial weaponry*
Rolff Stone-Fist: *says nothing*
In my own experience, most people working with Ulfric or related to someone who does tends to not be very smart.
Most realistic part of skyrim is the racists being oblivious idiots.
he thinks dark elves are spies, on the other hand someone wearing imperial armor is either, stormcloak spy on the empire or way too fucking stupid to be in windhelm dressed like that so... no mentions required
@Nep Nep imagine being a degenerate who follows stormcloak
well, he's clearly an imperial and not a spy and an imperial soldier would probably rather run rolff through than deal with him, especially because who his brother was.
We're here before Nazeem!
Quick!
Cast Guardian Circle before he arrives!
Please don't say cloud district anymore Nazeem! I beg you I can't take it!
@@martinputt6421 Hey Nazeen! I heard that Alduin destroyed the Cloud District because he heard you talk about it!
I AM HERE! PEASANT!
@@nazeem8086 i get to the cloud district more often than you think. NOW KNEEL BEFORE THE DRAGONBORN OTHERWISE BE SENT TO OBLIVION!!!!
Mar Hawkman
I genuinely think Nazeem would have a breakdown if he couldn't get to the cloud district.
I really never had a problem with Farengar. Is that just me?
Joshua Croteau nah me neither
He's obnoxious, but respectable.
I never liked how he treated you upon first seeing him, but then he pokes Odahviing in the wrong place and gets the poopoo scared out of him. I see it as karma.
I went to Bleakfall to get the stone before going to Farengar.
That's the way to start the adventure in Skyrim.
Gain Farengar's respect!
MetalUnitesPeople I always do that. You can also level your destruction enough to get a special speech option upon the first time meeting him. That’ll set his disposition for the player higher.
"I thought she hates everyone"
"She does"
Lmao
Damn I'm late, I better not be on this list.
Do you get to the cloud district very often? Oh, what am I saying? Of course you don't.
Hey, stand on that ledge over there for me. Now, which hotkey did I bind Unrelenting Force to...
Yes, yes you got to cloud district. I GET IT! No need to tell me about your cloud-district fetish for 186437294 times! By Sithis!
If you need more practice with the bow just grab me...
...OK...
tHEN tOUCH mE
Let me introduce you to my pet dragon.
Yes, I do get to the cloud district quite often. That's where I get my bountys
I always liked to think Rolf Stone-Fist is a disgraced member of his family. Maybe he failed the trial of killing an ice wraith, losing Galmar and the family's respect. Rolf tries to prove his Nordiness by fueling his prejudice and going after the dark elves, but that just ostracizes himself further.
That's a pretty good theory
That's a pretty interesting way of looking at it, though I thought the punishment of failing to kill the ice wraith was death BY the ice wraith. so I guess you could say that he probably ran away instead.
I agree with this theory. I don’t think anybody, stormcloak or imperial, likes him or agrees with him. A true nord would do something to help the war, even if he couldn’t fight in it. Rolf is certainly not a true nord. (This coming from a stormcloak)
@@jamesshelton1127 Yeah, he doesn't even fight, or work for that matter. He just gets drunk and screams petty insults to the elves. That said, the dark elf he's harrassing at the beginning is actually a legit spy.
I thought the only legit spy in Windhelm was the owner of the New Gnisis Concerclub? (I'm blanking on the guy's name)@@gabzdark07
Holy crap Rolff is GALMAR'S BROTHER?!?!? How did I never notice that!!!!
*_Skyrim. The game that is always hiding cool new things for you to learn-even in 2019_*
Also why does Nate pronounce it Row-loff? I'm pretty sure it's pronounced similar to Ralph.
@@marhawkman303 Pretty sure everyone in-game calls him Row-loff… Particularly if you bring up his poor nature to the dark elf woman.
They share the same mindless hatred.
It even hides stuff in plain sight!
"Skyrim. The game that is always hiding cool new things for you to learn--even in 2019 (part 42)"

"I think we all know where this is going"
The character being silent makes it better lol
Not to mention, he even looks around a bit before pulling the sword out
400th like, yay even numbers!
Nazeem’s not in the comment section.
...yet.
Do we get to the comment section very often?
I think someone killed him again
Very
What are you talking about? Of course we don't.
Have you been to the cloud distric very often?
I work with my mother, we sell fruits and vegetables.
I work for Belethor, at the general goods store.
Ah the Whiterun market square. What a blood bath
i can still hear them in my head...
@Steve Murdock Goddamnit Olfrid you've been telling me this shit for eight years
The girl in Markarth tho, who's gonna be a silversmith when she "grows up".
I always mistake Belethor's guy for a Courier
I've never been personally bothered by Farengar's personality. Extremely brilliant people tend to be rather socially standoffish, so I just went about my business.
True. He's like Calcelmo. He's just really busy.
@@ShinDangaioh Indeed. I've heard a few people even dislike Calcelmo, which I also don't get.
Beside he is rather lenient when you have significant level of mage skills (I believe you know it) you can choose rather humorous dialogues. He even as far praise you in front of Jarl Balgruf which make him likeable character.
If you enchant items in front of him, he may make comments on it, complimenting your skill.
Wow I missed that part, appreciate that info lad :)
Farengar is pretty annoying but I can't help but love him as a character. I also love that during the Mephala Daedric quest, Nelkir tells you that nobody will miss him if you killed him for his whispering door key lol
If you have a decent level of alchemy or destruction before you first see him and show him your knowledge he automatically respects you
When he asks you to deliver frost salts, you can ask him "do I look like a courier to you?" And he replies "hmm, let's see. Worn soles, travel-stained clothes, blank and unintelligent expression. Yes, as a matter of fact, you do". As soon as he said that to me, I respected him xD
On one playthrough I completed bleak falls borrow before going to white run and farengar's dialogue was surprised

'do come baack' ok I'm sold
@@doomspidey1737 just like his sister
Not to mention how he wanders around the city. Great for not being at his shop when you need him. And being murdered by vampires at the main gate.
One of the funniest interactions I ever had in Skyrim was when my Argonian Archer/Thief was in Falkreath at the tavern and an Orc in heavy armor wanted to fight. So I obliged and we dueled to the death. All the while one of the barmaids kept saying “Shor’s Bones, handsome man in Falkreath” the entire time we were in there. Then she saw his corpse and gasped immediately after.
I’ll never forget that.
kknives 😂😂😂
Ah Rolff Stone-Fist, the ONE npc that shouldn't have been marked essential.
Rolff Stone-Fist? More like Rofl Stone-Fisted
Erikur even more for me.
Delphine should of been Killable after the main quest just like how Elenwen was able to be killed
@@rivaraptor4277 Gods yes.
Use the heart breaker mod to kill any npc that annoys you ;)
Degain demanding meat from the vendor is actually hilarious when you know where that meat comes from 😂
Wait. Is that... Was he at THE feast?
oh no
Tbh I sympathize with Endarie. After working retail, I get where she's coming from. Still, she should curb her attitude until she's off the clock.
Her backstory in the game suggests she's one of the most famous and well paid clothiers in all Skyrim. She's probably only polite to people who give her money. I mean, listen to what the THANE Bryling said about the clothes she gave her: "How did we afford that?" If your prices are high enough that a THANE thinks they're too expensive, you're probably going to pretty much ignore commoners.
@@marhawkman303 And Taarie's comments are more so she can get you into the outfit she wants to show Elisif.
If your product is in as high a demand as hers, you don't need a good attitude. In fact, it makes the business more memorable to patrons.
She basically just says what every retail worker is thinking, ever.
And actually, if you invest in her store, she DOES become nice to you.
I mean, she does work every day from 8am-8pm. And probably makes clothing after the shop closes in the evening. Poor lady never gets a break.

Bethesda is better at making annoying characters than keeping glitches out of their games
Annoying characters *are* glitches.
Feel free to demonstrate your superior coding skills.
@@marhawkman303 Why do you bother defending Bethesda?
Their games are plagued with bugs, that's a fact not an opinion.
And him knowing or not knowing how to code does not make his statement any less valid.
RangerRegicide 😂😂😂
@@user-yo1uk6mf1s And yet, they've made many of the most popular games ever made. Clearly they're doing something right. Fact is the reason there are so many known bug is because of how many people play their games.
“I’m sorry do you get to the cloud district often” - Nazeem. His famous last words
I'd like to hear him say that to a giant. I know they've sent *me* there a few times with a whack from their club.
I always let him live for some time, then i use him as a cathartic relief and proceed to marry his widow.
I never was too much into roleplaying and Bethesda´s approach was always too obvious... but random shit like this is what gets me going lol.
We just got swiped outta Nazeem AGAIN
That was grade-A trolling by Nate. :P
Classic bait and switch...well done, Mate 😄😄
In my game Tarrie died to a vampire attack, had Endarie say "without my sister I don't know how I can go on", for once I felt somewhat sorry for her.
Taarie is at least somewhat ok after you do the misc quest for her. Her sister is just a sad case of wrong profession lol, i wouldnt think twice about her attitude if she wasnt trying to sell me shit in the first place.
Still better than the unwashed masses bothering you at first sight with their problems and schemes, honestly. I´ve grown to hate how every time i visit a city for the first time, every npc locks onto you. Bethesda was, and kinda still is, too on the nose with their writing.
@@vavra222was looking for anyone to mention the misc quest for really both of them, from what I've noticed at least they have friendlier dialogue towards me and the one who walks around solitude doesn't insult my outfit anymore (despite immediately selling her back the fine clothes I borrowed)

Oh, what am I saying? _Ofcourse you don't_
Talos Guy: " Now, our religion, what next, our children-"

"Please for the love of Talos shut the oblivion up you yell this multiple times a day, every day of every week before i do something that would make even Molag Ballin,Boethia,Vermina,Namira and Mephala stare at me in horror"
What I love about Rolff is that because of the way the game is programmed, after you brawl with him it's like you completed an unmarked quest with him, and he begins being really friendly with you. Beat the hell out of him only to find him tomorrow "Divine's upon you, friend"
I noticed that, too. Got him good and punch-drunk, I guess - addled his brain. 😆 ...Such as it is.
F is for Friday when skyrim videos come out, U is for unknown facts. N is for killing Nazeem with FUS RO DAH down here in Whiterun keep!!
You can trigger a special dialoge with Farengar when you have skills in magic too. He answers pleasantly surprised to that
Stone fist is essential because he is a thieves guild target for one of the fishing jobs I think... at least that is what I was told... nothing a little setessential command couldn't fix.
Farengar isn't even that bad he's just abit.....socially standoffish
ClOuD DiStRiCt
Hey Nate, if you did a "tour guide" where you guided people through Skyrim while they play along, like give them a list of things to do in a row, I bet that would be really fun for your viewers
Great videos
i have one for the things you did not know series. The symbol next to the quest name changes depending on the faction, main quest Dragon, thiefs guild it is a lockpick, civil war imperial/stormcloaks symbol and so on.
I'm almost certain he mentioned that in an earlier episode. But considering he's been doing this so long that, and I made certain, he's already featured some details multiple times, he might feature that again. I forget what it was, but I found he mentioned one bit of trivia in three different videos.
@@zuttoaragi8349 yes he has mentioned this, same video as finding the quest on the map via the button I think.
thanks i will check out that vid
I think you are a major reason to why this game is still alive. Thanks dude
If you invest in radiant raments, Endarie will actually act nicely towards the dragon born
Wait...what if Farengar is rude on purpose because he doesn't want any friends so he can dedicate his time to his work and study?
I think I may have found another tiny detail! One that is so subtle, I'm willing to bet hardly anyone even notices it. In the very first dungeon, Bleak Falls Barrow, the very first puzzle door with matching Claw Key, has a pattern of Bear, Moth, Owl to open it. When you get this combination, the Bear and Moth switch to Owls as the door begins to move. Could this be Bethesda congratulating the player and praising their intelligence (Owls being an old symbol of wisdom), for knowing where to look for the combo to begin with? Back when we were all new to the game, the fact that the combination for the doors was on the matching key may have been unknown to us. Could this be a subtle nod by Bethesda to new players?
Endarie: Finally...
Nate: *pulls out sword*
I wish you could kill Rolff Stone-Fist, but you can't because he is essential. Why Bethesda, WHY!!!!!
If I ever get something to remove his essenssil status, I got some plans for him. They involve necromancy, skeevers, fire, and lets not forget an elderscroll
I removed his essential status through console commands then sent to the Soul Cairn..
Found out the hard way as a Dark Elf that he was essential. Sadly I don't have access to console commands on my 360
How come didn't I meet all of them?
*Looks into game files...*
«Oh some are non-essential...»
*Smiles.*
I actually like Farengar.
He is a researcher, so of course he would get annoyed if people keep asking him useless questions.
Specially considering his position as mage of the court, he might get a lot of visitors all bothering him.
Also he reminds me a little bit of my self, I only like people that go straight to the point of what they want or they talk about fascinating topics.

Farengar and Nazeem are secret lovers. Prove me wrong. Farengar is Nazeem's "Cloud 9" 😏
Maybe that’s what he really means by “no pussy in the cloud district”
It would explain why Nazeem is so obsessed with the cloud district.
@@coffeepoweredkatie6290 And why his wife only griefs for a bit before letting the Dragonborn nail her.
When naming all of Erikur's despicable traits, you didn't mention his disgusting behaviour at the Thalmor Embassy towards the servant woman. If you use him as the distraction, the maid will even get punished (most likely very brutally, considering her employer) for Erikur's outburst.
The only time I’ve really been annoyed by Farengar was when he was bothering the dragon you catch in the main storyline

"Did I forget anybody this time?" _flashes Nazeem_
i love watching your videos when im trying to not do schoolwork or when im dying my hair or cleaning my room or something, it's very relaxing
That Nazeem-Farengar mix was one of the best twists I've ever seen in a long time.
Speaking of beggars, it’s also odd that the one in Windhelm as a master pickpocket trainer can earn thousands of gold training you but still remains homeless
I feel bad now, because i pickpocketed back every single coin i gave him for training of said skill.
If you decide to be a bit evil and murder Endarie to death, her sister and a thane (I think Bryling) will have a new line of dialogue, Taarie says something in the lines of: ''I wish my sister was around still''
That court wizard Farengar is so insolent that he even annoyed an actual dovah when he took the liberty of sampling scales from Ohdaviing's tail. So much so that Ohdaviing cried Yol Thoor Shul. x'D
Haha the way you described some of the characters at the start of the video feels so similar to everyday life and relates to everyone of us human beings as we know so many individuals with entirely unique characteristics , personal traits, backgrounds, & of course stories. Even her "Bad Day" dialogue option changes to "Good Day" when you choose it she says "Only a good day with you around". I mean she still is a snobby Altmer who hates everyone except you but if manage to gain her hard-earned friendship she is most dear.
Once I killed Farengar, during the Ebony Blade quest, and before calling Odaving. After talking with the captured dova, a disembodied Farengar took some blood from Odaving (something that happens if he's not dead in the main quest).
Also, in a very early run through (still 32bit version) I was sneaking through Erikur's house at night, and discovered Meloran and Erikur sleeping in Erikur's bed together. Now we all know TESV is not glitchy at all, and runs perfect at all times, but I thought this was very interesting.
