- Skyrim is a game filled with a colorful and diverse cast of characters. However, many of the NPCs we meet in The Elder Scrolls 5 are already condemned to an unlucky fate regardless of the Dragonborn’s actions. These characters that we can’t save in Skyrim often times have backgrounds and stories certainly worth taking a glance at. So today we’ll be diving into five doomed characters in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
6. That poor Whiterun guard that gets thrown into the air when Ohdaviing first arrives
NOT if you manage to paralize it…!!!! ;)
(As paralised stuff is immortal, you know. Like the player rolling down the mountain after being shouted into ice by the angered grey beards…)
Haven't tried to but I think that might be possible. Maybe with a training arrow + longbow and a poison that causes paralisys for at least 30 seconds.
What do you think?
Maybe not paralyze but definitely ash shell. That one's really good for keeping npcs immortal.
@@andraslukacsovits2349 paralisis allows you to still be damaged. (i am a paralysis mage who paralyzes and then shocks people so yeahhh)

Baha- there was a mod in Oblivion I couldn't play without that let you actually say this to bandits that tried to hold you up. It had a few choices, but my favorite "Are you stupid? Can't you see I'm heavily armed?" You could even make them give you their gold and run away from you like punks 😂

I wanted to save all of them (Yes, even Astrid, she was sorry in the end,). Kinda sucks they gave the DB this ending, like you think in an sandbox game like Skyrim we would had so many options. Like Save Cicero, Kill Astrid then reverse, Save and convince Astrid why she is being stupid, kill Cicero.
Also able to destroy the DB but not the TG is a bit weird. Come on, these people go beating up innocent shopkeepers, they are not in anyway superior as Mjoll points out, let's have a choice of wiping them out.
Yeah I can't believe that the only survivors are the Dragonborn, Babette and Nazir.
I'm telling you, Nazeem's death is not our fault! The Dragonborn is scripted to kill him, right?

I attempted to save Roggvir. I got as absolutely stacked as I could’ve before marching in I proceeded to *kill everyone with a weapon* (no innocents I don’t live that life) then he fell over and died of a heart attack. Damn you Todd Howard you did it again!

Lokir for the next list! A simple horse thief who got caught up in the civil war conflict and mistaken for a Stormcloak. He tried escaping but got shot down. He's 100% doomed because he dies before you even have control of your character.
And yet, he's the one who prayed for help. And then came Alduin.
I wonder if you can kill the archer with commands, and what happens if you do...

I didn't feel sorry for Sulla or Umana. The one I felt sorry for was their Orc companion, Yag gra-Gortwog. She defended the Khajit brothers from accusations of being responsible for the disappearances, temporarily saved her companion Endrast from Falmer by throwing him to the other side of a broken bridge, and then fought said Falmer by herself. She even took a few down before they got her. I'd much rather save her than her skooma-brained boss.

the khajiit brothers too have my compassion, they were struggling so hard because of skooma and that's exactly what made one of the brother mad enough to attack us, forcing us to put him down

I like to wait until he leaves Whiterun and leave his body on the horse stable fences. Everyone passing by sees him, and it's the furthest thing I can think of from the cloud district (not physically, but ya know what I mean). A fitting final restings place for an ass- forever on display, rotting amongst large stanky animals.

Apparently, the locations that script her death are placed such that under some circumstances it's actually possible to see her keel over. Normally it's supposed to occur "off-camera" and you find her body after the fact (next to an Ash Spawn or two).
after briefly talking to varona , don't enter neloth's 'shroom, house just walk a bit past where the silkstrider is on the left. you should be able to see 3 ash spawn under a tree looking down at nothing. don't engage, just creep back to neloth's 'shroom and varona should be lying dead at the foot of the ramp up to the 'shroom front door
it's a lot easier than taking on 3 spawn on level 10 or so, when i usually do solstheim
(neloth's black book can also be done in about 1 minute if you know what you're doing and is a great source of grand/black soul gems (minimum of 6) for a down-an-d-out starter) ;o)

@@wyler_. I can't stand High Elves, but not because of the Thalmor. They had HUGE elemental weaknesses pre-Skyrim, which I never enjoyed. I know they made great mages (which I love playing), but I would either play a Breton (standard) or Khajit/Argonian (for something offbeat).

And of course, It's makes me more motivated when I hear bandits yell "You will make fine rug, cat!" while I am *murdering them to death*

Again, mods don't do that unless you're installing them without giving literally any thought to it...and even then, they usually don't...h-have you ever actually PLAYED with mods before? You aren't talking like someone who's modded their game, you're talking like someone who was once told what modding is, maybe heard a negative story regarding it, and is now carrying that bias around with them, refusing to give it a chance.
And again, the vanilla game is ANYTHING BUT FINE! There's a reason "Modders making better games than developers" is a meme. The amount of game-breaking glitches you can encounter in Skyrim...it's a literal nightmare.

I really hate the Markarth City Guards, they arrest you for no reason during the Forsworn Conspiracy. So I like to kill them all the time as a werewolf or vampire lord and collect their armors.

But seeing how relatively far they got just on their own, when I hear the imperial captain say "Anyone else feel like running?" The first time I entered Markarth, the dude from the Dawnguard interrupted me so I didn’t notice the girl getting murdered until the guards came. I exited out of the dialogue, and later when I did go to Dawnguard he was salty at me for ignoring him

My grandmother used to tell me stories about the Nordic days, a time of peace when the High king and Jarl's kept balance between the Argonian Tribes, Khajiit Kingdom, Dragon Nation, and Nord Nomads. But that all changed when the Dragon Nation attacked. Only the Dragonborn mastered all the power of being Dragonborn. Only he could stop the ruthless Dragons.
But when Tamriel needed him the most he disappeared
Man I wanted to save Mirabelle. She seemed more fitting to be "archmage" than my full warrior character that has a mana pool of 100 and only knows the three basic spells plus transmute and levitation.

Nah i have actually never killed him. He does not bother me at all. The most i do is use mods to update npcs so they don't talk down to me when they shouldn't.
@@Merilirem I always feel kind of bad for Nazeem. His home was over-run by Thalmor and he had to start over as a farmer in the ass end of nowhere, and now his only solace is that he spends time with the ruler of a "city" that has fewer permanent inhabitants than a New York Public Park. I'm totally fine with letting him assuage his pride by pretending that he's got some special status.
@@CasualNotice Thats not really the issue. Its not that he's some sort of big shot or not, i always assumed he was. The problem is that he treats you like a nobody regardless of your actual titles, such as thane. His ignorance is deafening. If they wanted people to like Nazeem more they would have needed to put in something that changed when your status went up.
One thing thats annoying in general about Skyrim is that no matter who you are barely anything cares about it. You do not get the respect of a thane from characters who should know, like Nazeem. He just rubs it in your face so much that you start to wonder if he didn't actually go mad somewhere along the line.
If he was actually crazy though, a resident of the isles if you will, i would be fine with him. He however seems like he just has his head stuck up his ass and therefore has no excuse for his behavior.

Hey, remember how most of the dark brotherhood is murdered, replacing the diverse cast of characters with two nameless assassins?
They really should have made a way to save at least some more of them.
Speaking of the forsworn conspiracy, what about Eltrys?
Ugh the Forsworn Conspiracy is my least favorite quest in Markarth, corrupted guards, a bodyguard attacking you on Throngar Silver-Blood's orders even after you let him become jarl of the hold once the Stormcloak questline is done or during Seasons unending negotiations and then getting framed for murders in the town even though the Forsworn plus their leaders were the true culprits and then you given the choice to either to go to Cidna Mine and slay the King of Rags which a course I do every time I play the game or continuing playing the game framed for all the murders in Markarth hold including Eltrys's and Margaret's (I tried this once) just because you were playing detective /Investigative reporter I was hoping someone would make a mod to do something about this quest for the choice is yours is useful but I want one that would help with the corrupted guards also, but enough of me rambling, I'm pretty sure Eltrys death is scripted even if there was a way to reach him first and warn him before the guards kill him he's still doomed.

The fun thing about Rogvir is that you can actually stop his execution and make him live. He has a single line of dialogue talking about the queen and then immediately dies with no intervention. So even if you by yourself storms the capital to save him, and succeed he'll still die.

The list more went over characters that you feasibly could have saved but the script makes it impossible. At the beginning since the PC is still a prisoner and in the intro you have no playable way to do anything eg. bound hands those characters had no feasible way of being saved by you the character

I have a question, and i know that it's been 9 months, but i need to know:
In some forums i saw that a lot of people hate Serana, saying that she's negative and always complains. But in all my playthroughs she almost never does that. Yes she is a vampire and doesn't like the sun, and yes she neither likes the caves, but at least she says that she will go with you if you want.
The question is: do you get those kind of dialogues from her? Because it seems that my serana is the only good one.
No she's only ever complaining about the sun and cave and for a very good reason in another thing I like about her is an option of dialogue that is completely unique to her when you ask her what she knows about elder scrolls she will say "about as much as everyone else turns out you don't learn about someone by sleeping with them" to which you can respond so you don't want to learn about me which is the best pickup line ever sadly she rejects however I always say that instead of the other option
About Roggvir's execution:
I've avenged him anyway. When I have the ability to being a werewolf, I'e transormed myself to be one, while I was hiding in the Solitude catacombs. After I came out as a beast, I've began a rampage throughout the city and killed every single guards, who was trying to stand in my way, but Aldis (the captain of the guards who was ordered Roggvir to be executed) is always be my first target. These are freaking awesome. After my rampage (and turning back to a human) I come back to Solitude and put Aldis' corpse next to the well on the main square as a deterrant example.

Huh. I never knew Margaret could be saved. I knew it was a scripted death but I didn't know it could be prevented. I always hated the Forsworn Conspiracy quest - just having Weylin's notebook and letter taking up my note section pissed me off.
The College of Winterhold has several including Ancano, the Archimage, and one of the ladies.

Even took the elevator to the surface (that's what it's there for, I guess) to improve and enchant their gear (and unload the loot) before entering Blackreach for the first time.
Both permanent corpses too (to be used at any time) and have good perks.

In the case of Of Ulfric killing the high king, when you ask him about it, he tells you that any nord can learn the way of the voice and he did shout at the high king, but it was Ulfric’s sword piercing the high king’s heart that killed him

Medresi Dran in Angarvunde runs across a crushing trap and dies. It's possible to shout her across before it crushes her, but then she becomes "busy" trying to walk until eventually she steps on the trap again.

You can "save" Rogvir... but it is really really hard and you have to keep injuring an essential NPC to keep him from killing Rogvir. There is a guy in the crowd with a bow. If the execution doesn't go off right he uses the bow and Rogvir dies. Since the guy is essential and Rogvir isn't programmed to.... run away... he just stands there waiting to be killed by some one. That said, one more reason why I don't side with the Imperials with most play throughs. Guy was literally doing his job.
The arniel one was hilarious for me, as i had dropped a ebony battleaxe that he picked up, and he ended up using it to hit the soulgem
Maybe Arniel accidentally soul-trapped himself and went into the Soul Cairn, and we just don’t see him when we go inside during Dawnguard? Perhaps the last swing at the soul gem cracked it and caused it to absorb the closest would nearby, which just happened to be Arniel.
Nazeem there’s just no way he makes it past the cloud district.
Ulfric actually did use his sword to kill Torig. He beat him down with his voice and used his sword for the final blow

Both have bad things about them but I'm with the imperials cause torygg didn't have much of a choice to fight ulfric or not when it came to going to sovngarde because if you guys don't know you have to die honorably to go to sovngarde so for torygg it was either die and go to heaven or live and no heaven edit:sybille the court wizard even says that torygg respected ulfric so much that if he wanted to fight against him he would've let him and that's pretty honorable if you ask me

@@davidfriesen6716 he is a Nord you can tell by his name imperials usually have not viking sounding names usually foreign names or great sounding names like tiber septim or Martin septim and nords usually have viking sounding names

I saved Margaret for the first time in my recent playthrough of Skyrim. I walked into Markarth and I saw the guy creeping up behind her and I was like I'm going to save her this time because I never do but here's the weird part. I was unarmed and I forgot so when I went to attack the guy a finnisher cutscene happened and my Khajiit took the guy and body slammed him on the ground breaking his neck. I didn't know that could happen and I was pretty freaked out when I saw it.
Great video idea & execution (tee hee), Nate! If you do a future video in the “doomed” series, I suggest incorporating Susanna the Wicked from Windhelm. I always wanted a way to save her...(though her unique, scarred body made a great dead thrall!).
