They're not only incredible musicians, they're also super nice. I've seen them live already two times (actually, they were the last live band I've seen last year before we went into corona lockdown). The first time the venue was basically empty with only 20-30 people in the audience, but they still played like there's no tomorrow. When they finished, we tried to cheer for an encore, not expecting much, but the bass player really came back on stage and asked "I'm really sorry, we already played our whole set of songs, is it OK if we play Gou Ni Moyu again?" - And so they did. And here's Gou Ni Moyu for you to react: ua-cam.com/video/Nl4Z5f4QwEY/v-deo.html

@@akaalexanderking That's not only true for covers, if we didn't rehearse our own songs, we also forgot bits and pieces of them :D. So I'm pretty sure that they didn't have any other songs "stage ready". Oh, and Sokoninaru just dropped a new video earlier today, which is a complete outlier to their regular style. Right now I'm addicted to bands from Japan because? when I started playing guitar the songs were made with feeling and love and especially with a lot of study in the instruments, and the musicians had to be animals on each instrument, now in this principle of century the songs have become very boring, with 4 chords with an acoustic guitar and are killing the distortion, I like to see and hear people who play much better that I play and I always learn. Listening to Japanese music without realizing what they are saying I get the feeling of joy and happiness.

Fastest click of my life. Been hoping you would do Sokoninaru for a while. My favorite band right now, I love how unique and fresh their whole sound is. Good observation about how amazing their tones and harmonies are, which are things I think a lot of people overlook given how overwhelming their playing can be on a first listen. While they're A Lot to take in at first, what I really love about them is that as you get used to their explosive style, you start to appreciate just how beautiful their music is. While you're re-listening to this one, I recommend putting on the English subs with the CC button, because the lyrics are amazing too.
For other songs of theirs to check out, Gou Ni Moyu, Lament Moment, Complicated System, and Re:Program are all fantastic. You really can't go wrong, all their songs are great. They have individual instrument playthroughs of most of their singles, with walkthroughs of how to play them and what pedal settings they use for some of them. Shiyu's drum playthrough of Gou Ni Moyu is just unreal. The also have tons of covers on their channel (recording from their homes through the lockdown) which are great both for finding other amazing J-Rock bands and for seeing them just having fun, since their own songs are mostly fairly serious.

Yes! The wait was worth it! This band needs a little more light, I think they have a very interesting concept and sound, and solid vocal harmonization. This song is a good introduction to them, since perhaps for many they can be very "chaotic" without so much structure, but the band has a wide repertoire of songs that are worth exploring and they continued improving their sound over the years. Thanks GG for the reaction and the analysis, and it is true that it is difficult to do this in just one listen, but it improves with each listen, I assure you!

I love finding reactions to "difficult" bands like Sokoninaru, I'm still researching their music, but the four or five tracks I've been able to listen to I've liked and I'm looking forward to dive deep into them ;) What I have looked for is information about them and it turns out that both Suzuki and Misaki formed the band because of the influence of "Ling Tosite Sigure", another Japanese band I do know and also with the guitar/bass/drums formation, in fact Sokoninaru started doing covers of Ling Tosite Sigure's songs and apparently, the bass player Misaki originally played the guitar, but changed it for the bass because she was impressed by the style of "345", the bass player of Ling Tosite Sigure.
In case you feel like listening to the band that inspired Sokoninaru, here's a link to the first video I saw of Ling Tosite Sigure's "Telecastic Fake Show", I think I must have seen it when it came out back in 2008 and it blew me away, but I didn't really look into them until a few months ago. The song itself still seems brutal to me, just like the band and as it usually happens with all the Japanese bands I've been discovering, they are tremendous when it comes to playing their instruments ;)
    ua-cam.com/video/lqYCMxhgeSU/v-deo.html "Telecastic Fake Show".
On the other hand, TK, the guitarist and singer, I think he is also the "brain" of the group, has also his solo career with the curious name of "TK fom Ling Tosite Sigure" and he does wonderful things like this ;)
ua-cam.com/video/GsLsBs4oW30/v-deo.html 『unravel』 (acoustic version in The First Take with piano violin and cello)
ua-cam.com/video/Fve_lHIPa-I/v-deo.html 『unravel』 (original video with the original electric version)
What usually happens to me with everything I've heard from TK as a soloist is the great emotional charge that his interpretations transmit to me, I'm not able to define it in any other way ;)
Greetings from Spain ;) (Translated to English automatically)

Sokoninaru is one of my favorite japanese rock band. All the three members are great even if the drummer Shiyu is not officialy part of the band. Juko Suzuki is an amazing guitar player and he plays on a Momose Jazzmaster (japanese handmade guitar). Misaki Fujiwara is in my top 3 japanese bassist with MISA (BAND-MAID) and Koga (Gacharic Spin, DOLL$BOXX). She plays on a Mayones Jabba Classic 4 (handmade bass from Poland).
On their UA-cam Channel, they show how to play their songs. It's only in japanese but it's fascinating:

I think in the old days to write something like this you'd record a bunch of separate longer parts, then cut the tape into pieces and stick it back together.
I'm sure the digital cut and paste method would be similar, and more precise. Adding parts, removing parts, until you have a "finished" song and rerecording parts to make it more cohesive.

    ...
The band is 0.1g no gosan and I have no idea what the song is called, but it has a lot of creativity and general Japanese "wtf did I just listen to" in it.

There are a lot of covers done on their channel, my favorite is "LUNA SEA - ROSIER". For our outside of Japan, this band is like from another planet. However in Japan there are a lot of similar bands like Ling tosite sigure, THE ORAL CIGARETTES and Hello Sleepwalkers. Our brains are not calibrated for Japanese music. I think that even though there was a lot going on from moment to moment, overall this is a fairly conventional song, which keeps the listener from getting too lost. The time signature is 4/4 and never changes, the measures are in groups of 4 like most pop songs, the tempo doesn't change, and it stayed in one key and used familiar chords. So even though you can't predict what will happen in the next second, you can kind of predict what will happen in 90 seconds. It's chaotic on a small scale, but on a larger scale it's not. Most of the Sokoninaru songs that I've heard are like that.

Jambinai:Time of extinction. Another level of crazy music...but I like it :) It's a good reactions GG. I had same face when I heard this first :)

Guess I'm just too old for this kind of music. It's just too chaotic for me and I'm having a hard time enjoying it. But I can tell that the musicians in this band must have a tremendous amount of skills to be creating such a song.
Nice reaction as always, GG. And I missed the premiere twice!! You change the premiere time one hour earlier?

    • @akaalexanderking
      @akaalexanderking  3 роки тому

It's definitely not for everyone man. No worries, today I released the video without the premiere. Moving on I'll probably do this for new bands on the channel and have premieres for the ones we already know ;)
      But always 2PM GMT 🤘🏻

@@akaalexanderking yeah I guess it's not indeed. I was as mind blown as you to be thinking how they can come up with ideas of songs such as this hahaha.
Yes it's a good idea of sorting out which songs/bands that can you react to with a premiere and which cannot. And please react to FATE GEAR (MEGABULLETS or Headless Goddess) and Vision Divine (Angel of Revenge). Thanks man!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

I think you should revisit them with their song "Metalin". Also take a look at Broken by the scream with
"逆転の鐘は鳴る" which is another example how crazy the japanese music scene is. It`s brutal stuff. But we and they enjoy it so much.

    Thanks for the video, Gent!
This was really fun to watch! One can almost see on your face how many times you wanted to pause the song to catch some air... haha
By now you should know that this is their usual writing style. They have some songs that have a more established structure, but the music is always quite busy and changing. In that regard, "zettaiteki sanpunkan" could be a little bit gentler... I might be wrong... haha
By the way, in case you're interested, you can see the play-through videos for this song (Tenohira...) on their channel. They explain each section for each instrument, so I'll be dropping the link for the guitar one in case you wanna try playing it..!! haha

If you’re up for a Marty Friedman approved child guitar prodigy who’s also jammed together with the likes of Kiko Loureiro, check out “Li-sa-X Band- One More Chance is Enough” The stuff she’s doing here sounds so badass. As a musician, you’d probably be able to appreciate it more.
I actually found this recently too and been playing it on repeat wondering why does this sound so freakin good?! So it’d be amazing if a pro like you can look at it and possibly figure out what she’s doing. The 2nd guitarist Haxuki is also a member of Nemophila so this whole thing is pretty much an alliance of monster musicians, teaming up strategically to blow our minds 😅

I love this band, they are incredible, but I prefer them live, the studio versions are a bit overproduced and artificial for my taste (I hate those vacuum outerspace silences at the breaks) , live they sound as fast and accurate, but with a powerful rawness.
