4:26 "Grandmother kills entire family... 8 dead! Relatives upset" What, were they upset they weren't included? And if it was the entire family then WHAT relatives? Did she kill someone else's family? And who puts ellipses into headlines?! What's going on?!!
I love that "The Simpsons" insert at 9:29, one of my favorite episodes of that show ever ("Fat don't fail me now!"). Ha ha, this film seems like a trip, although that Icon sure knows how to get around (maybe it's its own trip, I suppose).
@Kamran Baxter Thanks for the title; lately I've been thinking about the episode 'Special Edna' when Bart said he'd get Mrs. Krabappel for Principal Skinner, and he'd even do it pro boner (Skinner: "It's pro bono". Bart: "I know what I said"). The author Stuart Woods used that phrase in one of his Stone Barrington novels that I just read ; "Unintended Consequences" I think the book is called.
My Canadian university did, it was just part of the 1st yr Mythology elective. It was a really cool examination of the evolution of religions, shared/modified religious iconography, and how religions changed as they expanded into different areas with unique preexisting beliefs systems.
You know you are a horror nerd when you hear the phrase "The Power was directed by Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter" and you immediately think "Aren't those the guys who made The Dorm That Dripped Blood?" Guilty!😏
Just watched this and it was damn good. It did explain how the girl at the end got the power because after she kills the crippled guy she takes out her necklace which has the head of the idol. I also love how none of the women wore bras in films of this era. They're the gift that just keeps on giving.
"Its this really cool show about brothers who fight monsters." That was the first 3 seasons now it's about asking Crowley for help with a case they're having trouble with.
Goodbadflicks I found a Hidden Gem of a action movie Called Hard Rain in the U.S. and in other countries is called the Flood. It stars Christian Slater Morgan Freeman and Minnie Driver it has very well pace stunts and action almost all of it is done in camera it is very straightforward no stupid side plot or romance. I was shocked that I never heard of this and no one else has because it failed at the box office with a budget of 70 million and made at a time in the 90s where you see the budget on screen with very little digital effects almost everything is practical! I highly recommend it. A perfect movie to have behind the scene feature s with all the sets and stunts and water damage but I cannot find any.
I thought this was going to be Lou Diamond Phillips' 1987 horror movie The Power, but was still psyched because this looks hilarious, and you always make everything so fun, Cecil!
@@GoodBadFlicks Right! I was trying to remember. :-) So Dr Wolfula did a review of Cannibal Holocaust and I thought of how thoughtful your reviews and "Exploring" videos are. Nice recommendation, Cecil! I will definitely have to check this out! Speaking of the Tomb & the Kindred. Would you ever consider doing an exploring episode over either of them?
hooray! always glad to see a GBF video. . . that simpsons clip is from my all time favorite episode, king-size homer. so many great jokes in one episode. sarcastic guy: " hey! i gotta movie for you, fatty! . . . a fridge too far!"
all of those people calling it a Planchette, are right and wrong,.. because thats just the piece of material that holds the important part, the Oculus.. in fact, this device is called an "Oculus Planchette". it is the Eye that is charged, not the board itself or the planchette, the Oculus is the only one of the items used in Ouija that has "charge" which is why it was always made of polished crystal, not glass or plastic, and the boards themselves could be blessed as to not retain the spirit's energy since the boards were often carved into Marble or Granite. the Oculus was placed into a setting on the planchette before use but was kept in a dark cloth bag separate from the other items. These reasons are why the modern day Ouija boards only work when someone wants to mess with you lol
Thought you were talking about the 1968 film "The Power" with George Hamilton and Suzanne Pleshette, about a killer that uses telekinesis. But this was a fun watch.
I'm glad this generation has been looking back at movies from the 70s and 80s. Dispite how much money today's cinamea brings in, it always seems like it's based off something dreamed up from back then. Kinda sad in a way but also rewarding for us boomers. I never saw this one. That being said, it almost feels like, based upon your synopsis, the movie does have a main character: it's just that instead of a person, its the idol instead. Those jump cuts in time certianly do mess up the pace of the movie. Still thanks for uploading!
Quoting SNAP! in "The Power" both the song AND this movie review? ...Priceless. What can make this movie any better? That's right Schneider from One Day At A Time at 1:53.
Aww, I thought this was going to be for the 1968 film The Power. Pre-cursor to Scanners with possible influence on even a movie like Altered States. Very underrated and practically forgotten...any chance I could talk you into doing that one this year? (your review for the '84 film is entertaining & informative as usual...just was hoping someone other than me discovered the older George Hamilton film)
There is another movie which title is The Power. Made in 1968, directed by Byron Haskin and produced by George Pal (starring Michael Rennie, Susan Pleshette and George Hamilton). The script is about people with psychic abilities! Ain't it crazy?
That hairy crew dude was scariest thing in whole movie XD
They should've pulled a Twin Peaks and called him Bob.
There is a fair chance they noticed, but left it in intentionally. At least, it works.
@@PictureProductStudio true
I'd honestly have assumed that was an intentional scare XD
I thought it was some weird out of place nod to Polanski's 'Revulsion.'
Adding in the Simpson's cut to this video was absolutely fantastic! I laughed out loud at work at this.
I laughed out loud when you quoted 'The Power' by Snap... in a review of a film called The Power. Well played sir, well played.
4:26 "Grandmother kills entire family... 8 dead! Relatives upset"
What, were they upset they weren't included? And if it was the entire family then WHAT relatives? Did she kill someone else's family? And who puts ellipses into headlines?! What's going on?!!
Maybe the family she was loving with? Like how my aunt used to live with me and my family

I'd love to see a Goodbad Flicks on Doomsday: that overlooked often criticized Mad Max homage gem that's well over the ten year old mark
that movie is so good
Great movie. Pity about the instantly forgettable title though.
Very underrated movie.
Actually just about everything that director does is fun.
Is it just called Doomsday, or does it have a subtitle too?
You do an awesome job with these. I really enjoy your channel.

One of the greatest movie posters ever made. That’s a true work of art.
