The reason for In N Out not having crispy fries is because they're fresh and not frozen, which is actually counter productive to making a crispy fry.
You can ask for a double fry which makes it really crispy.

I dont know why American fastfood chains have taken up the mantle with fresh vs frozen ingredients. It rarely makes a difference in taste, and if so its marginal.

I don't live in America so it might be different, but I actually think shake shack isn't a fast food at all, it just out shines every single fast food
However based on other reviews I've seen in America it seems like it's worse, I've seen complaints that their chicken is dry yet from where I live the chicken isn't dry at all and is really good

My favorite burger eaten in US was butterburger in Culvers - not a very popular fast food restaurant but definately worth trying! Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and litteraly crave it - but I live in Poland so gotta wait untill my next time in US.
Culver’s is actually very popular in the Midwest, it’s just not very well known out side of it

As an American, even though I weigh like 230 pounds, I order the tiny portions because the full size portions are WAY TOO BIG for anyone.

If they do the float right, it's supposed to be the root beer poured over top the icecream, so the creamy vanilla infuses with the root beer (making it even more vanilla tasting) and the icecream melts into like a creamy froth.

They’re a little pricey but yeah they’re good, maybe a little better than steak and shake but not by much.

You never know what you're getting with burger king unless it's your local one, some locations the food is great, while at others it sucks. My local one happens to be great

EXACTLY! A whopper from a good place is amaaaazing. Also never with cheese, always without.
Here's a trick to prevent In N Outs fries from being lackluster and undercooked most of the time. Order your fries "Lite-Well" and they'll be the perfect amount of crispiness. Some people order them well-done but that basically turns them into chips.
Also, for fans of spicy food, ordering your burger with chilies on it makes it even more delicious!
I've just never totally been in love with In-n-Out burgers, but will eat them sometimes, and have to ask for the fries to be extra crispy. Next time you definitely have to try Five Guys and I'm actually a fan of a place called The Habit, but there are also lots of local non-chain places that are supposed to have great burgers.

The Habit USED to be great! They were bought out by Burger King’s parent company a couple years ago and now the hamburger patty and chicken are interchangeable with BK. Sucks- was raised around the original store. So disappointing now.
The Habbit tastes just like McDonalds with a good patty for me, but honestly its at a very reasonable price😂
Shake Shack is absolutely above most other burgers, but I'm usually more partial to In n Out just for the value proposition - best bang for your buck for sure!

Weird, I used to HATE Burgerking, but the Burgerking near where I just moved has the freshest, hottest food, never get order wrong, and the sandwich looks like the commercial! Every Time! Double Whopper w/cheese is now my #1 ranked fast food burger. Had burgers from many different fastfood joints too but none touch this one particular Burgerking.
I agree, the Whopper can be a pretty good average burger.
But I don't think its the best out there.

Far too bland and overrated. I think the appeal is some sort of nostalgia. 5 Guys is infinitely better but 5 Guys best item is their fries. (5 Guys is a Virginia company)

I believe that McD's used to use beef fat in their frying oil or something, but they changed the oil to have beef flavoring at some point. McD's fries are at the top for sure. Fast food is good if you want a quick burger, but none of them are anywhere near worth the price, save for In-n-out (which I actually really only think is "okay"). The best burger you can get is one you make yourself. Skip the drive-thru and just buy some patties at the store and pan-fry 'em. Don't forget to season! I made 4 mushroom swiss burgers for like 15 USD total the other day and I'm still thinking about how good they were.

About the not being able to go anywhere unless you have a car, that depends in the state you are in. Here in NYC you can literally go ANYWHERE with train/bus. In NJ is kinda similar(From what I have seen)
Most of America is built around cars with some exceptional super high density cities. Which honestly sucks. Car dependency sucks for everyone cause it pollutes, it's dangerous, it makes cities ugly, and those who can't drive or choose not to can barely live a functional life. I always disliked the city cause traffic, but now I realize the suburbs where I grew up are the cause of traffic in the city.

McDonalds fry their french fries in oil, with extra fat flavouring added. Before, fries used to be fried in real animal fat, which made the fries taste really good. They had to cancel that due to safety regulations
Extremely fair ratings. I would probably personally put McDonald’s higher(but not over Wendy’s) due to personal nostalgia, and I haven’t had In ‘N Out, but in terms of general quality and vibe, spot on. It is indeed a good thing they don’t call themselves “Fry King”

The best fast food burger that I've ever had was from Heemos. I had it with just ketchup bc I'm boring but the meat itself was flavorful and the bun was toasted, really just a great basic fast food burg. The fries, both seasoned and basic, were fuckin great too, real crisp and tasty. Everything else on the menu was also great- I personally love their milkshakes. Also, if you're eating there for the first time, don't just get a burger, they have a really unique slate of options for fast food pricing

Shake Shack is slowly making its way towards where I live and I've been able to try it on trips, but sadly I'm nowhere near In-N-Out to give it a try! In my area some of the better burger chains (as in at least a step above McDonald's, if not more) include Five Guys (probably my top pick for burgers), Chillburger, Steak'N'Shake, and Freddy's

So I occasionally order a BigMac (or BigTasty which is way better) or a Whopper on my travels around Europe. I'm a truck driver. Last year me and my family went to America and I craved a BigMac. Not only is it much bigger, it also tasted differently - Sweeter actually, but also more tangy. It was good, and half the price of what I usually pay :) I also grabbed a small soda. It was the same size as the big soda in EU! What the hell is going on?
Yeah... soft drink sizes in the U.S. are infamous. McDonalds small size drink is 16oz (0.47 liters) and their large is 30oz (0.89 liters).
It's fatness. Hope you had other burgers because McDonalds in America is pretty mid. Burger King is horrible. Five Guys is my favourite but it's too expensive for what it is. They have the best chips as well. The best value is at In and Out. Delicious and cheap.
They always make portions big in the US. They want people to get fat.
In n out is very good, especially for the price point. I can get a meal from them for ~7 bucks and it's all fresh and juicy. Only problem is waiting since lines are long both walk up or drive thru.

You should totally try out In n Out's Animal style cheeseburger. It's a "secret" menu item. It's the same burger but with grilled onions, a mustard grilled patty and more of their spread.
I think that's what he got though? He asked if animal style was a thing right after he was recommended the double double.

I grew up eating fast food in the 70s and early 80s mostly and it was so good back then they changed the recipes so much that it doesn't taste the same at all
Shake shack absolutely crushes the rest. In n out is pretty close when you add whole grilled onion and chopped chilis, with five guys being 3rd due to the insane grease and heart burn I get after eating there 😂

I'm so happy you rated Shake Shack's burgers #1 !! It's my favorite too, with In-N--Out Burger a close 2nd. By the way - if you ever want another Root Beer float (which I LOVE) you HAVE TO go to an A&W place for one. Their root beer the the best! Loved your video - very funny. And you're right about Burger King. Their burgers are the least impressive item on the menu and their fries are way below par. At least McDonald's does have a good french fry. You could also try Five Guys burgers or a Whataburger to compare, but you got the best two in my opinion. Well done!!

5 Guys and Shake Shack aren't really fast food without a drive through, but they are good (and expensive)
If you ever find yourself in the Midwest you gotta try Culver's those butter burgers are worth it alone

If so inclined, there are some killer local/regional burger chains like "Whattaburger" (the In N Out of Texas), Culver's (Wisconsin), Cookout (North Carolina). But I feel you're getting into full time job level of committment.
I'm gonna assume you're back in Europe, but the next time you're in SoCal, I highly recommend Original Tommy's. Their chili cheese dedicated menu is to die for.
They only have 40 locations in WA and OR, but Burgerville is my usual go to for a fast food burger. The Number 6 Burger -1/2 Lb. Grass Fed, Grass Finished Carman Ranch Beef Patty, Face Rock Two-Year Aged White Cheddar, Mayo, Tomato, Red Onion, and Pickles on a Grand Central Bakery Brioche Bun.
Live in OR can confirm. I personally prefer the northwest burger with tillamook cheese, add extra patty. And of course you can't forget the shakes
