All I learned from this chicken sandwich review is that a lot of fast food managers don't make sure the fry oil is getting changed. Mcdonalds has a "premium" chicken sandwich. Kind of unfair to get the dollar menu chicken sandwich instead when you are getting premium chicken sandwiches from other places that are charging $6+ for one sandwich.
honestly what I thought. like thats not the only chicken sandwich hello??? I work at McDonalds, and because we don't sell a lot of the McChickens, they tend to dry out easily in the warmer treys so they're not all that good.. plus, they are just chicken patties, not chucken breasts like the McCrispy... also..... "they smell just like their burgers: like Mayonnaise" my dude we don't put Mayo on our burgers unless you ask 🤣the only burger that has mayo by default is the daily double and most people don't even know that exists.
We’re lucky to live near Jollibee. Their spicy chicken sandwich has fresh jalapeños instead of pickles. So you get that crunch like a pickle, but it kicks up the spice a bit. Then they put sriracha mayo on it. It is hands down the best chicken sandwich. Then you can get their adobo rice. The fried pies are incredible with the mango or the pineapple. Also if you get the chicken joy they only do dark meat. Such an underrated Chicken place.

For the McDonalds review, I think it would have been more fair if you got the McCrispy, the McChicken is literally just there for people who are looking for something cheap and filling. The McCrispy is more of a chicken type sandwich, though it usually is pretty stringy but it would have gotten a higher rating I feel.
Agree with many that at some locations you did not have fried chicken sandwiches, you had chicken patty's - BK and McD come to mind. BK has the Royal Crispy and McD has the McCrispy - Both are vastly superior to the patty sandiwches you had.

Fast food chains vary a lot from country to country, but I'd say in Europe too Jollybees tends to have the best fried chicken (way better than KFC, Popeyes, Burger King and McDonalds).
Jollibee’s spicy chicken sandwich really surprised me, everything they said in the video is true about the regular sandwich. BUT the spicy comes with fresh jalapeños in addition to the usually spicy mayo, which just makes it so unique and delicious
Was just saying this! The spicy version is out of this world. They season the chicken thigh patty with loads of spice and it’s 10x better than the regular one.

So as a person who's eaten a lot of friend chicken and who also has an extremely refined palate, I can truly say that Jollibee (specifically the hot) is the best fried chicken I've ever eaten non-homemade by a mile! I used to love chick fil a till I had Dave's and I loved Dave's until I had bojanles. But once I had Jollibee I will never, ever go back to a Popeyes, KFC, or Churches ever again! I remember the 1st time I had Jollibee I was driving by and was like "what's this place?" I had my wife go through the drive through and I was appalled by the prices. I ordered 1 spicy leg it was like $4-5!!! I was complaining and grumpy the entire time. I took 1 bite and made her go back though the drive through again and bought an entire 10 piece bucket. It was the greatest hidden gem I've ever discovered. The only down side is the price. It's hella expensive and truly not affordable by the average person. I don't even eat fast food anymore (due to health reasons) but I still allow myself to have spicy Jollibee chicken once every month. I honestly wasn't that impressed by their chicken sandwich specifically, but you owe to yourself to try their spicy chicken, and be warned, it's extremely hot, just like I like it!
i can’t believe i almost forgot about the Jolibee chicken sandwich until Josh brought it up at the end of the video. the first time i had it, i was in awe
I worked at Carl’s Jr., the chicken is battered fresh, buttermilk then dry mix, then fried, I can already tell you didn’t get a fresh sandwhich because of how fast it is, if you get a fresh sandwhich from Carls, you’re gonna wait about 5-6 minutes, the chicken takes 4 minutes to fry at a time.
I worked at BK handbreading them, they was a pain in the ass to make, had there own station they got ass messey as you'd think for bunch un professional people try to try too work it, so they got rid of it only because of the mess sadly
A fresh Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich is easily the best chicken sandwich. I’ve been too Popeyes around 10 times and the most recent time it was perfectly fresh. It might have been the best thing I’ve ever eaten
You haven't eaten anything good if a fast food chicken sandwich is the best thing you've ever eaten lol, anything that's homemade or even made fresh in a restaurant will beat any food in a fast food place
I literally ordered a Popeyes chicken sandwich yesterday and it was smaller than my palm. I paid $7 for a chicken sandwich SMALLER than my palm. It was almost the size of those salty biscuits they throw in. I genuinely feel like I got scammed. From this day on, I'll be making my own sandwiches.

Yep, I have to agree. The bee’s chicken sandwich highlights the chicken itself. As I’ve mentioned before that Filipino taste focuses more on local herbs and spices native to the islands. Filipinos do not often use imported spices. Big reason why you won’t find a lot of veggies or a thick sauce in that sandwich.
The last time I had one, it was great except it was dry, like cooked 3 weeks ago and allowed to sit out dry. It made me cry on the inside. (but it was probably the city, because that place is a dump...) That said, I'd give it another shot in a better place.
Glad you enjoyed our Jollibee’s chicken burger! It’s a big hit even here in the Philippines that they always run out in cities with only 1 of 2 branches. They toast and season the buns, seasoned the hell out of the chicken thigh patty, and have that signature sweet sauce we Filipinos love. Also, you have to try the spicy version! It is 🔥! We LOVE our chicken, and we PRIDE ourselves in our Jollibee so they really delivered ❤️ yeay for Jollibee as the champ! 🇵🇭
The McCrispy at Mcdonalds and Ch'king at burger king are both pretty solid actually. Much better than the mcchicken and original chicken sandwich. I always thought the long chicken sandwich at burger king was nasty. Tastes like fish to me maybe it's the oil like you said.
Unfortunately BK discontinued the Ch'king about a year ago. The spicy one was tremendous with that nashville hot style glaze. Their new one is not near as good, in fact probably worse than their chicken sandwiches prior to the Ch'king days.
@@TonyEvers-bucksin6 That's interesting. Wonder why it got discontinued. Seems like chicken sandwiches became one of the hot items at fastfood spots after the whole Popeyes craze a few years ago.
When they mentioned the old fry oil on the DQ sandwich, I had to agree with it. I worked at a DQ for a while, and if you got there later in the day they did not switch out the oil, it was definitely old.
That’s the Jollibee I frequent! Been trying to tell everyone that Jollibee’a chicken sandwich is criminally underrated! Here’s a next level tip: get some gravy and dip the sandwich in the gravy. 🤯
For me the formula years ago was 5 ketchup packets, two mayo and one hot sauce for the sandwich and for a large fries. When Heinz came out with those huge packets, then it was two of those. Can't go wrong.
Ive eaten Jollibees chicken and rice with gravy, and that chicken is perfect. Wish I managed to try one of these sandwiches, when I was in Philippines.
The “commercial fried oil bitterness” is a practice in many restaurants to use what they call “seasoned” oil, which they believe is packed with flavors. Another term for this is simply “old oil.” There are some benefits to using lightly “seasoned” (i.e., not too old) oil, but there is a point where the oil quickly becomes too stressed from high temperatures, has been used for too many different foods, and might even be starting to go rancid.
mcdonalds old version of the McCrispy, the southern style chicken sandwich was LIGHTYEARS better than the McCrispy and by far the closest to a Chick fil a sandwich they ever had and not a day goes by that im not angry that they dont serve it anymore, huge L for mcdonalds

I’m surprised your Popeyes Chicken Sandwich was so small. All the ones I’ve had were pretty thick & juicy, though some were lacking on the sauce and one had too much to the point it was too salty
The one major criticism I've had of Popeyes is that their consistency is pretty meh (and their buildings typically look like I would not want to be there late at night...). Honestly, if I see a popeyes and almost any other fast food restaurant (and I'm on the road), I'd take popeyes over it if I want a chicken sandwich (never had Jollibees... which I will be rectifying soon!). As an aside, I just don't understand some of the rankings. I've had a lot of these (some more than I want to admit) and some of them are just not that bad. McD's McChicken isn't so bad (it's not good... let's not mix words). Like, Burger King and the McChicken shouldn't even be close. Working at chick-fil-a, I feel as if people like us because of how many locations there are, and how consistent the service and food is across all locations.
I know exactly how my chicken sandwich is going to taste each and every time and I've only had it where the chicken was dry twice. Add some honey mustard sauce and it's one big chicken nugget. It's not as good as Popeyes but, Popeyes is very inconsistent and their service is terrible. I once waited over 20 minutes, after ordering, and all I ordered was a 3 piece dark chicken, fries and drink. Everybody was waiting and they're wasn't really a lot of people in the store, maybe 12 - 15 so there's no excuse.
Everytime Ive been in a CFA line thats 20+ cars deep im in and out in under 10 minutes where as a McDonalds or anyother place 10 cars deep youll be there for 25-40 minutes
I think part of reason people love chick fil a is because the chicken is breaded in house so it actually tastes like fried chicken. I used to work there in college so I should know lol. It’s hit or miss though if the breading station worker knows what he’s doing Also Josh you can order a “well done” chicken filet that’s cooked an extra 45 seconds in the fryer. It may not be the best tasting chicken sandwich out there, but for fast food, it's solid. I just think you should continue it and maybe even co-opt it into another category like but better, but faster, and but cheaper. I hope that this message reaches you or at least enough people to have them help me make the point as well.
I mean, it is technically a terrible sandwich in every way. But there is something about certain low quality food items that I just love LOL! Like, my favorite pizza is Little Caesars. Even though I can clearly taste that the quality is much lower than other places. For some reason I just like it better. There are also lots of really high-quality foods that I can't stand. But, I'm weird. It's probably just because I grew up on eating food from cans, boxes, and fast food LOL!
Sometimes you gotta navigate at these places to get it done, better. Otherwise its a mess, and might be hit or miss. When thry said plain, that usually means patty and bread...so, some fault is in ordering.
yep, cane's sauce is basically ketchup and mayo with a splash of worchestershire sauce. you can make it at home for really cheap and i'm not sure if it actually has garlic powder or not but i add some salt pepper and garlic powder to my homemade and it just knocks it up so many notches
I think other competitors may stood a chance if their employees treat the food and the customer with love. Jollibee, for the most part, has Filipino/a workers. They put love in the food they create. The work environment too is really nice and friendly. You get greeted when you order via drive-thru. If only fast food companies work like this.
The Jollibee is a shocker though, as a Filipino I have never eaten their chicken sandwiches for most of my life until they released one just a couple of years before. Yup, this was just a new regular item on a Jollibee menu, and they nailed it. Dayum! Thanks Josh.

El Jannah is mostly just in the Sydney area with 16 active stores with a few more coming soon, there's only one NSW store outside of Sydney which is coming soon in Albion Park. Outside NSW there's only 5 (soon 6) stores in VIC and 1 in ACT, and that's it.
Broaster Chicken is also pretty much just NSW based around Sydney too with 1 store in Newcastle and 1 in Wollongong. There's also currently just 2 stores in VIC, 1 store in ACT and 1 in WA.
Nene Chicken is mostly in VIC with 5 stores in NSW all around Sydney, 5 in WA, 1 in QLD, 1 in NT and 1 in ACT.
Carl Jr's is also only in VIC, QLD, SA and NSW. In SA and NSW there's only 7 stores each, and in NSW there's only 2 within the Sydney area both of which are in Western Sydney being in Bringelly (been to this one a few times myself, it's not bad especially with the free drink refills when inside) and Wetherill Park.
At least our Aussie KFC is actually good though and not like the abomination seen in this video, and we have Zinger Burgers.
I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS. Thank you for crowning the right chain! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
As a Filipino, I'm very proud of Jollibee's win! Forever the number one favorite fast food chain of the Filipinos 🫡🤤
We love to hear it!! 🎉
Im from the philippines but i love kfc. Mcdo is overrated
I appreciate the Filipino love but there’s no way jollibees has the best chicken sandwich over Popeyes, CFA, Dave’s, or SS
Yay!! As part Filipino, I am so happy Jollibee came in at #1. Love their Chicken sandwich. You gotta try the spicy version, they are amazing as well.
Is that you and dave grohl as ur pfp???
I wish I had Jollibee near me, but I have a few dave's locations near me and I'd personally give it a far higher score than they did in the video (I usually order the extra hot)
Kudos to Josh saying "Mahal kita" in the end
SPICY DELUXE CHICKEN SANDWICH IS VERY SPICY
GingerGingerGingerGingerGingerGingerGingerGingerGingerGinger
Would you also want to include a price component on it? It will really put into perspective how much value they are adding in the food
I was thinking the same. Like a score / dollar ratio per restaurant.
I think just adding the price would be fine. But not to add it to the score. This is about flavor overall who cares about price it's fast food anyway.
Wrong way of thinking. Things shouldn’t be given a higher score or even a passing grade because it’s cheap. If anything it should tell you it’s not real meat and should be avoided.

@@FrankDux-uo7ig Not real meat? Gimme a break. None of the sandwiches here have fake meat.

I was hesitant of trying Jollibee's chicken sando at first because it was a lot more expensive than their other stuff but when I tried it for the first time I was hit with a realization. It's soooo worth it. I'm glad you got to try it and even rated it high too. Jollibee ftw!

made me wait the whole video just to get to jollibee but that's riiiiiight absolutely deserved!! as someone who works at one of their branches and prepares the sandwiches it is by far one of my favourites on the menu and knowing it's ranked nr 1 here makes me so so happy
Lived in the US for 2 decades. And have tried every fast food here. Jollibee is By far the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever tried. And suprisingly Carl jrs chicken sandwich is good too.

The reaction to an employee outside of Chickfila saying my pleasure had me, a previous employee of cfa dying 😂🤣
22:40 legit yelled and clapped for Jollibee winning in the end there 😭💖 the filipino blood in me is very thankful 😔💖❤️✨

Thank you SO MUCH for including the southeast's Bojangles in this!!!!! It's one of my favorite fast food spots, and finally seeing it included in something makes my heart so dang happy!
The biscuits.. I mean, they're crispy. Utter PERFECTION. ❤❤

The line… the *ahem*… goddamn that was perfect 😆😆😆

Agreed 😭😭😭
Can be a meme material
Jollibee prolly has some of the best chicken you could get from a fast-food place. It definitely deserves it's place on the leaderboard.
That thing is a broken condom (technically, the broken condom probably has more sauce).
I don't get the Carl's Jr love. The last one I had tasted like a Chickfila ripoff.

@@descendency Popeyes has the best fast food chicken sandwich out of all the places I have tried, by far. That said some others were really close. I've had the Arby's one and was surprised at how good it was, although mine was a bit dry like in this video, the flavor was surprisingly good, it was like 7/10 of what Popeyes is most of the time, which was unlikely.
@@escapetherace1943 Yeah Popeyes is by far the best for fried chicken sandwich (or just plain fried chicken), Jollibees is totally average. Chick fil-a is 2nd. I was not impressed by his burger reviews either.

LETS GOOO JOLLIBEEEEE! represent!
Great Choice on Bojangles! Considering I grew up in Charlotte North Carolina for 14 years before moving to Texas, I always vouch for the Tarheel Chicken! Their Cajun rice is also fire. 🔥
They recently expanded here to DFW but it seems like the few new locations have taken their sweet ass time to even get up to speed. Thank you for sharing that North Carolina Chicken for the rest to see!
I like Bojangles a lot
@@kimberlywilson7929
You fart Bojangles?
@@solkalibri1376 bro, you okay?
The way he said he'd come back to Chick-Fil-A when the line went down... I laughed so hard. At least around me it's never a short line.
and yet they're arguably the best in the game at keeping that line moving quickly - when I see a long line at CFA, it's not even a deterrent.
Never a short line BUT still the fastest moving line around lol
Everytime Ive been in a CFA line thats 20+ cars deep im in and out in under 10 minutes where as a McDonalds or anyother place 10 cars deep youll be there for 25-40 minutes
I’ve never liked chick fil a. Always tastes lukewarm cardboard to me
It is on Sunday.
Josh is just out here roasting almost every fast food restaurant in America 😂
I think part of reason people love chick fil a is because the chicken is breaded in house so it actually tastes like fried chicken. I used to work there in college so I should know lol. It’s hit or miss though if the breading station worker knows what he’s doing
Also Josh you can order a “well done” chicken filet that’s cooked an extra 45 seconds in the fryer. They come out super crispy but not dry if done right
Chick fil a is probably the most over hyped place on the planet. The food is average and the long ass wait times. Only eat there when the fans in the group demand it....
@@donaldexley1852 depends on location. Local locations for me have 20-30 cars in drive thru and I'm in and out in 5 minutes. They are faster than every other single fast food place I've been to in the entire 757. There is no comparison.
@@donaldexley1852 completely disagree, it varies by location but they definitely depend on quality> corporation.
Zaxby’s always breads their chicken in house as well!
With Jollibee, you wanna get a side of their gravy, and dunk the sandwich in it as you eat it - trust me - that makes it even better!
Always good to see Zaxby’s be included in stuff like this.
as a former dairy queen employee, i apoligize for our absolutely ass sandwiches(fun fact they kept changing our supplier so if you went once and got a chicken sandwich, it was going to be from another supplier the next time more likely
As a former KFC managing partner, if you find the right restaurant with the right leadership, a freshly prepared spicy chicken sandwich at 1030 in the morning is hard to beat! But like you said, it has to be fresh oil and freshly cooked. Hit me up if you want to do a fresh chicken sandwich duel!
I was desperately looking for this comment. Thank you❤
Jollibee deserves all the credits it can get. I rarely go to Fast Food chains but Jollibee's chicken and chicken sandwich is so good. Spaghetti and rice is a nice side too.
Jollibee in the philippines is disgusting though

Dry ass chicken that needs gravy, spaghetti that tastes like baby food, burgers with more fillers than meat, banana ketchup
@@slee2695you are such bs.youve never tried Jollibee in PH.. actually you may have never tried Jollibee at all..Lol.. they dont put banana ketchup on the burgers or chicken sandwiches, they have different sauces for those 😆
Joshua, I just found your videos recently, and I bought your new cookbook. I bought it because my wife is obsessed with textures in food so I thought it would be perfect. I have only made one recipe so far but it was truly AMAZING!
I really wish y’all had gone to PDQ. I don’t know if it would’ve topped the list, but definitely top 3
I love that you’re calling out all these crappy fast food places! Their quality has gone down hill. Great video. I personally love shake shacks chicken sandwich
When y'all said "We'll come back when the line dies down" at Chick-fil-a, I couldn't help but laugh cause ain't no WAY is that happening
I don't get.... the fuss about chik fil a baffles me
to me it's the combination of things: excellent food (chicken sandwiches with their sauces, waffle fries and arguably the best sweet tea out there), fast service despite the long lines, and their reward system with lots of free food (both earned and "just because" free food from the franchise owners). It may not be the best tasting chicken sandwich out there, but for fast food, it's solid. For the record, of the top 9 listed in this video, I only have a Carls Jr (that score surprised me) and a Popeye's nearby, and my experience at Popeye's was horrible. I do like Bojangles though when I get chance to go @@aneesah4341

the look of the Jollibee chicken sandwich you guys had and the one we have here in PH, is IDENTICAL. sometimes the chicken is also bigger
In PH they put WAY too much of that sweet orange sauce on it, and it's thigh meat instead of breast. Still good tho.
As a fan of fried chicken sandwiches, i will enjoy this video with every single piece of my soul.
Should've done the spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's, honestly when it's fresh it's so bomb
Facts
The Asiago chicken sandwich smacks gotta be fresh though
I go right when lunch starts to guarantee a fresh one. If you hit it up at 3:00 it’s gonna suck
Ya I was disappointed with their take on Wendy’s. It’s a banger especially when the bogo coupon for it in the app drops.
Jollibee back at it again with their chicken game, should have bought extra gravy tho, their chicken and chicken sandwich goes from like an 8 to a 100 with the gravy because their gravy is top tier
Should've made it unlimited refills as a treat
please continue to do more of these types of videos where you go around to different fast food chains and rate their foods, I’ve never been able to find a good content creator who’ll make videos on topics like that. Where we can see all of the different types and ranges and judge for ourselves and based off of your ratings which would be the best to go to. I just think you should continue it and maybe even co-opt it into another category like but better, but faster, and but cheaper. I hope that this message reaches you or at least enough people to have them help me make the point as well.
But Which

I love chicken sandwiches so much that even a 3.5 from Josh means I’d probably like it. Hell, I even get a spicy McChicken every now and again.
Spicy McChicken hits. Many of the spicy variants of these sammies are so much better than the original.
@@TheJokesterSCRlike when at a gas station, and without thinking of it you make in your stomach and Oberto Pepperoni n Twinkie Sandwich.
I stopped getting a McChicken when it's no longer on the dollar menu, it's just not worth it whatsoever. It was a life saver when I was in college
yep, cane's sauce is basically ketchup and mayo with a splash of worchestershire sauce. you can make it at home for really cheap and i'm not sure if it actually has garlic powder or not but i add some salt pepper and garlic powder to my homemade and it just knocks it up so many notches
... worcester(shire) sauce - say: "wooster (sheer)" sauce
Yeah, I'm really glad they decided to make it a regular item.
Jollibee is straight fire
The ones here suck, they should put reg spicy mayo or that yum sauce. NOT FUCKING HONEY MUSTARD! 😂
I remember the line on the my local Jollibee drive thru when that chicken burger was released 😭 causes a traffic jam going to my house. I get it any chance I get, it’s always bomb af. So glad Josh loves it!
Jollibee really needs to open up more locations. That being said, I am still very tempted to drive an hour out to one to see the hype for myself
Do it i drived 3 hours for my wife cause its her favorite
The drive is worth it. I promise you. Get the spicy version of the chicken burger though.
TBH there isnt alot of Fillipinos in the US to make a chain XD, we need our race. we cant have no other bc they dont understand our commitment
