The problem is that when an idol doesn’t perform well it is blamed on their busy schedules which are these brand endorsing activities which in return turn them more into models and influencers than artists and singers. Their first job is being a performer and an artist but given the situations their first job is influenced by something which shouldn’t hinder their actual work but should rather act as just a method to earn money and face.
Y'all do know idols have been passing out on stage from exhaustion even before fashion brand deals became popular, right? They have busy schedules period. Fashion shows don't even happen all that often. I really don't understand how going to them is somehow going to take away from their music. Being a brand ambassador means getting another check. That money will most definitely go to the idols unlike the money they get from their company. Did y'all forget these idols go into debt when joining these companies. Twice was so happy to get out of debt with JYPE they made a post about it.
Yes!!!! brand endorsements shouldn't be the focus of kpop idols... we are not here for the brands, we are here for the music. If they have those endorsements it's ok, but music should always come first.
True they should never make extra money on the side how BLACKPINK did at fist and they basically starved and had to live in a Cockroach infested apartment together 😂 lmfao .
They still need to make money… sorry they need brands! So what only other artist around the world should be able to do brand deals and take good opportunities for their careers? makes no sense. They can be more than just music. And we should support them in their business ventures as well.
BTS got over 300 songs to their name and 10 years in the industry. They even held off on luxury fashion brand deals to focus on their music before taking one (and did it as a group with the biggest luxury brand, who could actually afford all seven of them). Seeing 4th Gen idols without 10 songs to their name is an… interesting shift.
I also think the same, but when I said it other just said 'you just jelous you idol dont have brand deal'. Now idol train period not as long as before, and they debuted at young age. I see many idol not really get along like friend. They look like coworker.
@@yunadayuliantari8027 If a k-pop group is serious about their music, having a brand deal is not an accomplishment. The music and the impact of that music is an accomplishment. Many of these fans can’t afford or don’t even know how to pronounce the names of the brands they’re bragging that their faves have. They probably haven’t even critically looked at a collection to determine whether they like the clothes. They’re just impressed by the big name and how their fave is no attached to this perceived prestige. Like you said, these group members have barely established a relationship with each other before they’re establishing luxury brand relationships and it’s a bit concerning.
totally agree with 6:53 !!! I started become a kpop fan since the 2nd generation, and that's totally right!! Kpop idols ads for chicken, pizza, snacks brands, etc It's affordable and we can enjoy it anytime! Nothing's wrong being endorsed for a high end brands, it's amazing! But it makes me sad that the company forgets that not all the fans are rich;;; In the end it's not the fans that enjoy what their idols endorsing, it's the wealthier ones :')
@@cranburrey yes thats really good isn't! In my country some of the kpop idols endorsed by local food companies and the impact is really good! More people knows about them
i agree with you there is nothing wrong for promoting high end brands but kpop fans in general needs to stop looking down when idols do ads for food like when bts collabrated with mcdonlads it was quiet nice because everyone including teenagers could afford it but the antis dragged them so much for it saying they can only afford that and everyone made fun of them as well so it was pretty obvious that when they became ambassdors of louis vutton armys shoved it down everyone's face what i am trying to say is, if we want idols to do ads for normal staff than we need to stop looking down on it and also stop putting those fashion deals on such high regard
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
The company didn't forget that not all the fans are rich. Guys, we don't have to buy everything our faves endorse. I doubt all BTS fans eat McDonald's. I'm pretty sure BTS have vegan fans but they shouldn't feel bad or left out bc they don't eat McDonald's, just like you shouldn't feel bad you can't afford luxury fashion. Brand deals are just another way to get paid. The bigger the brand the more you get. All of their staff benefits from bigger deals. The members aren't the only ones who gotta put food on the table, clothes on their back, and keep a roof over their heads.
The reason behind this is because they saw how popular Blackpink stayed even with long and continuing hiatuses. They cemented a way for them to be known forever, and also be known individually and their popularity grows by the hour. But kpop should learn that once someone accomplished something in a certain way, the recipe can’t be redone. They have to find other ways for idols to stay relevant.
I personally see IU as a good example of an idol with the brand deal. It's obvious her music career is the main priority, no matter what, then the Pallete show and YT channel where she can connect with fans, and we can't forget her acting career. After all of that, there are brand deals and ads, it's important for promotion and money, but as a fan - that's just something extra in the meantime, doesn't overshadow reasons why I like her. If the Gucci deal ends out of nowhere, I don't think fans would notice immediately (If you're not this extra "I'm her biggest fan", of course).
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
And Suji. Shes been promoting everything in South Korea since Miss A and even later on while still focusing on her acting career 100%. Shes never been "just" a face of a brand, much like IU.🙏
i think the fashion brand ambassador thing is pretty cool for idols especially for idols who also take an interest in fashion like blackpink but i really don’t think the ambassador thing should be something handed out left and right especially to newly debuted idols
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
After Chlöe Bailey said music doesn't make an artist a lot of money (unless they go on tour), I can understand why these idols turn to these brand deals. Especially from rich designer brands.
Well the thing is bts , blackpink , g dragon focused on fashion industry after they established their place in kpop industry and atleast 3 or 4 years after their Debut so it was totally fine BUT THESE DAYS the companies are starting to put rookie idols in this competition Even Just after their DEBUT ( new jeans , nmixx , IVE) maybe they are trying to follow blackpink's way of getting famous BUT most of them are literally still minors ( as we know the ages of most of the 4th gen idols specially who are entering this fashion world super first are minors like new jeans ) . I think new groups also should first take their time and make their place in the Music industry AND THEN enter the fashion industry like their seniors
@@j.a9558 jennie became Chanel ambassador after literally 2 years not within 6 months like these rookies, and back in days jennie was literally one of the most popular female idol in Korea within 2years and the influence she had we can understand she became Chanel korea ambassador 🗿 but these groups are becoming global ambassador without a stable fanbase or utmost influence, its fishy af!
blackpink become ambassadors a few years later into their career when their presence in the music industry was already established. however, these rookie groups automatically become ambassadors during their debut.
The difference is that BP actually had an interest in fashion, Jennie for instance was going to fashion shows and following trends way before she was noticed by the scene
Bts started as school uniforms and sports wear, then a few local brands 😂 only 10 years into their career they accepted the offer of global luxury brands, which i think relevant because most of their fans are working individuals and can afford to buy them once in awhile, also they have made their name in music industry, literally the GOAT. Being a global ambassador is just a side gig to them, just showing faces to update the fans 😅 because they were going hiatus soon. Cant wait for Jimin comeback tho.
I just hate how kpop idols have shifted into being everything but what they're supposed to be: artists and performers. I think its crazy that nowadays some idols are applauded for singing live?? Like its literally their job
But that's cause majority groups aren't artists and just idols. That's not something wrong but when they indulge in such brand activities then they loose focus on even their the performance side. Kpop groups or soloists that have a solidified artistry won't be susceptible to brand deals cause they play a huge role in their music so they will feel the need to keep the artist in them alive to survive. Also one argument could be since its kpop they can just opt to have no input and pay to get fully made tracks. But usually established artists working long in the industry have a standard to hold upto. And fans are good at recognising loss of artistry so a passionate artist can't just loose touch unless they are really asking for that kind of an image in front of their listeners.
Right, with YG Artists I was always interested in their fashion because it just goes so well with their music and when they perform on stage with those eye catching stylish outfits. I see respect with every style that they show, treating it like art. Visible to their artist like GD, CL, MINO and BLACKPINK. In the new gen case I can't take it seriously, like they clearly trying to be milked by this brands which makes me want to shake my head.
They are clearly making money to get out of debt with their companies. The only thing that's happening here is the k-industry has figured out how the majority of celebs in the west make their money. Some of these kpop groups don't get paid for months after they debut bc they owe the company. When Twice got out of debt they made a post about it on social media. Why would anyone begrudge these idols the right to be financially stable. I remember a very nosey stay asked Bang Chan how many members of Stray Kids are rich. He replied by saying only two. Out of 8 members only 2 of them are rich. Do you know how long it's been since their debut? Yeah, I'm not about to go around shaming kpop idols for making money.
@@cindyversion1201 The fan asked, "how many members of Stray Kids are rich now?" That means work to be rich. Even if the fan was asking about members who come from rich families my point would still stand bc by now there should be more than just two rich members. After multiple years in the business almost all of them should have a small fortune by now.
@@animec-dramaskpop6362 it's been some time since Chan said that so I'm sure things have changed. Secondly, pretty sure he was talking about seugmin and changbin who did come from wealth. Thirdly, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't JYP artists get their debt cleared once debuted? Lastly, what twice post are you referring to? How can I see it?
@@acidspittingllama1865 No, JYPE don't clear idols once they debut. I know Felix's family is super wealthy. I don't know who the other rich member is bc Chan didn't say. As for Twice, Google is your friend, use it.
It makes sense for blackpink because their image since their debut is that of rich badass fashionista. Not everyone can do this and they shouldn't do this.
I don't know about other idols but YG have a way to blend fashion in their music. Most of their idols have a unique style or something that is not seen yet. I still remember the time when Jennie just debut, the craz in between fans about her fashion taste was from the beginning. People might call blackpink a group of models but they were always been in fashion so I don't see anything wrong with it.
@@tokoabc6564 yeah, GD started but BLACKPINK is a group where all members are doing brand endorsements for big brands so it drew more attention towards them. YG artists were always into fashion for example GD, Mino,CL are always been famous for their unique style.
Honestly, I expected this to happen. Kpop fans have been insulting Blackpink over this for years, completely ignoring their impact, in my opinion. But.. the industry hasn't. Every time they attend a fashion event, it breaks the internet. The brands' profits are doubling even during a pandemic! Music Companies want to see the faces of their idols everywhere.. why would they turn it down?
Their influence made KPOP not focus more into the music but brands and being a fashion model tho. And I hate to see the current generation turn to that.
@moo That's understandable. However, at the end of the day.. Kpop is still a business. Any idol or musician knows this. As much as we want it to be only about the music, it will never be. That's the reason some groups disband after a couple of months. Why some are getting kicked out of their dorms. Let's not put down these idols that are just chasing their bag 😂🤷🏾♀️
I feel bad for the kpop groups especially 4th gens having their agency pushing them to be ambassadors and have kind of the same treatment yg gave to blackpink. It’s laughable how everyone called blackpink IG models and now everyone and their mother want their favs to be one
"Every thing is Moon, but when Blackpink touches it , it Becomes Rock for Kpop stans". I will never forget how they were Brutally Hated by calling them"IG Models" when they were announced as GLOBAL AMBASSADORS of Luxury Brands. Suddenly, When others r announced now , it's considered as an "Achievement". The Double Standards for them.
Thanku for pointing out. They hate them like their life depends on it and then find new and messed up reasons everyday to hate on them and then continue to say they are not interested in their career. Like wth? Like criticism is good but what they doin is definitely not criticism but strong hatred.
You’re missing the point tho. Them being brand ambassadors in general isn’t the problem, that’s great and it’s a lucrative business for them so by all means if they want then they should. But do they have to put music on the back burner for that? If they prioritised music no one would say as much but they treat music as a side job, which is why they’re called influencers. I don’t wanna bring BTS into it but since they’re the biggest group alongside blackpink I’ll use them as an example. People don’t call BTS influencers or models because it’s clear that music is their priority. They have so many songs and albums out and they have always shown that music is their main focus, and that anything else like brand deals or sponsorships are just side jobs. With BP it’s the other way around, which is why there’s criticism. Them being BA in itself isn’t wrong and nobody should come at them for that cause it’s actually beneficial to their careers long term, however people have the right to say something when the music, which is supposed to be the main focus, is being treated like a side hustle to support the idols fashion career.
@@cinnemonroe Well there is No comparison with the Privileges BTS have in terms of releasing Music. They don't need to Beg on a National TV for atleast 2 Comebacks in a year like what BP did. But YG don't gave them. Isn't it? BTS have Artistic Freedom. They can Communicate with their fans through their songs . And it never Happens with them that they recorded some Song 3 years ago and had to wait, just to release that song like Rose and Jennie. And they don't have to Perform 1 song 1000 times from 2018 by keeping same Expression without getting bored. There's nothing wrong with celebs becoming ambassador for luxury fashion brands, what's wrong is that 'fans' sees this as a competition, whose fave promotes more expensive/high valued brands. It's ridiculous. A singers' worth shouldnt be determined by what brand they promote, they arent models lol I do agree with the comment, why would rookie groups that have minors in it promote luxury brands? Their fans wouldnt be able to afford it, whats the point? it's just their company's greed. BTS werent always Valentino/Dior's ambassador. They were school uniforms ambassador, mobile data package ambassador, sport shoes ambassador, fricking GUM (xylitol) ambassador! They only accepted luxury brand deals at some point in their career where they've matured enough
I agree, tbh I don’t care if my favs have brand deals or whatever, if they remain consistent and give me music, I will be ok. BTS gave music to armys for 9 years so them going hiatus for 2 years isn’t a big deal for me, plus they will give us their solos so not so much waiting. Now-a-days, once rookie groups debut, within a month they get brand deals. Like, I am not saying they cannot, but I get concerned if their company will later focus on these things and won't pay attention on their music.
People forget that to be a good brand ambassador is that your personal/group's brand is established enough and FITS the products you're selling. Just plastering your faces on these brands makes it loses its effect
Thats the win win position for the brand and the group. Say "who gonna buy it cz they minor" "they dont suit brand concept" ect...like you smarter than the brand. That makes me laugh hard.
Also they are a group that has managed to sell put cars and make models of automobiles and phones go out of stock. So the fandom (obviously working individuals) can afford fashion brands (that is if the want to indulge cause not everyone wants to). But the point is it atleast makes sense unlike rookie groups who barely have a solidified artistry

This works for Blackpink because that is their image and brand. Also like the video mentioned the girls took years and explored multiple brands before they found the perfect fit. I mean one look at Jennie and you can tell Channel is a perfect fit. She also in heavily involved in fashion. She was even credited as editor for her Vouge Korea issue. Rosé has become besties with YSL ceo and attends Met Gala with him hand in hand. SINCE debut Blackpink has said in interviews that to them music and fashion goes hand in hand. I mean Gaga is one of the greatest musicians of our time and is also very much into fashion. To truly impact pop culture, music and fashion goes hand in hand. If I was Blackpink and I see everyone doing the same thing as them now. It's time to move to the next level. I would start a clothing brand in their name. Not only will they make more money and have more creative control but it will be theirs to own.
Agree. Blackpink debuted as a group that follows fashion and even became trend makers without intentionally doing so. Those same brands sponsors BP. I don't understand why them modeling and collaborating for their brands have anything harm for some people.
this is also why I LOVE TREASURE they have many advertisements and brand deals with more affordable things for their fans the consumers, and fans can buy their endorsements from convenience stores in Korea even for Blackpink they have endorsements as well with Oreo etc... YG did start the trend with blackpink but unlike most of the other idols they actually suit their collabs and it makes sense... yk
I don’t see a problem as long as the idols keep their focus on making music, like BTS. When it comes to them I know that they can attend all kinds of fashion events and their priority will be to continue to make music because they are great musicians
notice how this argument of idols being models and things is rising after bts started attending fashion shows and things ? BTS have a big impact on general public and kpop as a whole that's why people are pointing this out even when armys have been calling this out since so long but anyways bts are still safe they are working on their individual music and group and doing these brand deals as side jobs 🤷 and they will still be successful in both can't say this about other idols
I even heard they they have rejected a lot of brands become they wanted to focus more on their group projects they only accepted when they were focusing on their solos
@@soul3642 now now now, we Stan bts they definitely helped put fashion on the map in kpop but blackpink put the whole fashion embassador on the map like all four girls becoming luxury/fashion ambassadors everything they wear sells out (bts too) but visually blackpink fuses the fashion into the music , bts too well at times cause there look is not super fashion forward it’s more out landing but chill vibes . OMG I thought I was the only one pissed off about this, it’s nice to see it’s not just me. I think it pisses me off more with 4th gen groups. The thing is only groups like blackpink and bts actually have the power/ influence to represent big brands like these. Why would young groups like AESPA, ive or even new jeans be brand ambassadors, who are they influencing?? it has become obvious that these deals are not pushed by the brands but rather the record companies which just looks desperate. K-POP is just all about competitions now, if one group gets something then the other group has to also get the same “achievement” to show they are not falling behind. Just pathetic
Not pushed by the brand. Your source? Trust you? Thats win win position for the brand and the group. Dont act like you are smarter than them lol. The rookie idols have been like blue chips nowadays. You dont buy now, others will. Who know when they become big stars.
“Why would young groups like AESPA, Ive or even New Jeans be a brand ambassador, who are they influencing?” Obviously their fans? Even if their fans are super young them being brand ambassadors subconsciously makes the fan interested in the brand and hold that brand to a higher value and make them want to get it when they’re older or just ask their parents for it on their birthday or Christmas. It doesn’t matter how big or new the group is. If you have a fan base you have influence, therefore, you’re able to help brands reach more/newer audiences. This is nothing new it’s part of brands marketing to get celebs to endorse their brands so their fans can get it and so it can have more hype, As celebrities have a lot of influence. Idols would have started endorsing brands eventually whether it was going to be BP who started the trend or not. Many western artists and even non western artists had brand deals before it was a big thing in K-pop. K-pop is very much influenced by Hollywood so K-pop was going to eventually go in that direction sooner or later. So I don’t think it’s pathetic or a competition. It might be a competition among fans but for the companies I believe it is part of marketing their idols to a wider audience and enhancing their idol’s celebrity status which I see nothing wrong with.
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
@@tintran9146 calm down, I have no idea why you are getting so heated up for, ever heard of a thing called opinion? Whether you like to admit it or not, brand endorsements, being on western charts and shows etc have all become a competition and most of the time very inorganic. A steady growth over a rushed one because it allows for longevity, just my opinion and you don’t have to agree with it ✌🏽
I think it was almost unavoidable because kpop has become super international, i remember not too long ago i would get soo excited whenever i met someone who liked it because it was sooo rare. I felt like i was enjoying this little space in the internet that not many knew about, now most people know what kpop is, have heard some of it or just became a fan. I prefered it before, when original concepts were not based on high fashion but rather the actual music, which has been sooo boring lately, it all sounds the same.
Like it or not, Blackpink paved the way for brand ambassadorship for kpop. And the way they did/do is so fresh and original. They actually have the selling numbers to back up their campaigns. Blackpink are pioneers in proving to the world, you can do music, fashion, acting, influencing, etc., Before antis pounce on saying but they only have 35 songs, those songs are all popular and recognizable. When they focus on comebacks, they never slack. It's a shame they don't fit the crazy comeback schedule of kpop and rather work like international artists who put out music whenever they feel like. It doesn't feel like they were forced to release standard 10-13 songs when they release songs. They put out whatever they want to and many blinks like that. P. S. Never forget Jennie got slutshamed for Calvin Klein ads but now they want the same for their oppas. Ijbol
Brand deals in k-pop existed way before bp debut so no they did not pave any sht. It's not fresh or original. They still don't have numbers to back up their campaigns. They are pioneers only in Insta modelling. They only have 35 mid songs in which 15 flopped hard. Their cb and concerts are lazy and flop according to the fans itself. International artists work for other artists in between their comebacks unlike the lazy girlies who have never touched a studio equipment with their hands.
Why are some people trying to defend others that atleast they release music like wtf but blackpink doesnt? This rookies release two albums a year with 4 songs each and blackpink release one with eight whats the difference? Blackpink did not release music only in 2021 but still it wasnt as if they were doing nothing. Two members released solos, Jisoo casting kdrama and Jennie in the unreleased HBO series. Blackpink atleast took years before going into brand not like two months after their debut. Y'll like to trash Blackpink calling them IG models but when you favs do same you start defending so pathetic and hypocritical.
@@gabdongipark The thing is the reason why they dont comeback frequently is not because of brand deals. Acting isn't their first job. It's singing. And fyi, they were away in 2017, 2020, 2021. Only two members released solo which also had only two songs. Lmao. That's not a lot of work. Most artists release full length albums. You should stop labelling everyone who isn't pleased by blackpink and yg as "haters". It sounds too immature. Blackpink was gone 2020? then when was hylt, ice cream, pretty savage, love sick girls ,crazy over you, love to hate me all released then? About 2017 they released as if it was your last but how can you blame that year on being brand ambassadors when they were not even brand ambassadors then. They were gone for reasons known to them. Immature is the hypocrisy why try to defend others then on being brand ambassadors why is it ok for them but when its BP They are just IG models. Also no one is saying acting is part of idols job but its to make some dumb immature @sses understand they were not just sleeping in their beds and making IG post the whole year. Me, as a Kpop fan, want them to do music and that for every group. I'm not here to see them go to Fashion shows. Especially these days it's a mess. Really miss the old days.
I'm always happy to see my favorite groups/idols getting endorsements/ambassadorships but I follow and support them for the music, not what they are given to wear and promote. The fans who are using these ambassadorships as a way to top other fandoms are only doing so because they know musically, their group/idol cannot match up to the other groups/idols. It's not a good brag when idols are more known for modeling and influencing then music. Brand dealings used to be more of a part-time thing that idols did alongside their musical work but now it seems like brand dealings are their full-time job with music being their side hustle.
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
I think half the reason why some new gen Idols take up endorsement deals... it may be for the company's to spread the idols popularity but I think for the idols is probably to be able to pay off their debts for the companies putting investment into them so I think the more endorsement they get the faster they can pay off their debt.
In kpop, YG is the company with the least number of songs. CEO and Teddy used to say that we will only release music that we think is good. Even if BP wasn't GBA or went to a fashion event, there wouldn't be more music.
Well if not for their 300+ group discography, RM even said he is already working on a new album and few sounds for the next bts comeback. In busan concert behind the scenes video he talked about how they wouldn't perform Cypher 3 in the future cause their they might probably make another one! We saw Suga taking Hip Hop basics dance lessons out of his own will (after 10 years he still doesn't sit down in glory to think that's enough but addresses every aspect he thinks he needs to improve). Hobi working to modify his tracks so as to work with the exceptional band for Lollapalooza and exploring his new artistic and performer aura. The never-ending collabs with their fav artists and we still haven't reached half the bts members solos. So a few fashion brands in the background is not gonna effect them in anyway especially when they have been literal ambassadors of Seoul for 6 years, Busan Expo Ambassadors, manage to sell out massive brands other than fashion. And it atleast makes sense cause if they can sell out cars to the extent where automobile models run out of stock, the fans (majorly working individuals) are definitely capable of affording these brands. Even museums, art galleries and korean traditional wear (not simple Hanbok. I mean royal wear that rm donated to preserve) an increased number of visitors so I find it more meaningful than a rookie group jumping straight to brand deals before solidifying their artistry.
in 2013 - 2014 (lil bit forgot) as a fans I was really frustrated, my fave group was collide 1 member out and 1 member just got into scandal that made her went to long hiatus at that time but the leader who I expected to at least release her long overdue solo album just attend all fashion week nonstop and at that time I didnt use to any of it. I remembered I once wrote "why you dont just become a model if you not gonna serve us some music?" its mean thing to say to ur ultimate fave, as a fans I was frustrated cause I love my fave group as a singer, musician not as influencer type of thing. I was still narrow-minded that time, but see how it shifted in idol world nowdays as something quiet mandatory to have high end brand deal, be GA for high end brand and attend FW not to mention the fans is actually support whole heartedly just to be drag material and brag their influence (not in music wise but popularity) is somehow sadden me, cause brand deal opportunity like this likely only possible to big company group
The rookie thing is definitely paid I mean brands look for a subtle and constant influence, someone who has experience,(who matches the vibes) can actually attract buyers instead of just going viral with the cover photos (or attract 14 year olds who may buy these for some time and then move on to another)
I will say it again. Do you think the brands are stupid? You are smarter than them? Thats the win win position for the brand and the group. Both will make money & fame (mb not fr u). The rookie idols have been like blue chips nowadays. You dont buy soon, other will.
@@tintran9146 ofcourse (I) don't know more than them But I despise it. if other idols want to focus on fashion it's their choice as long as they are getting paid well I Stan BTS only and I Know they would never abandon their music career for fashion they have worked hard to get where they are and now that they are on their solos I think they are all still doing great
I think there's nothing wrong with it as long as they still release music and perform, not unlike what YG did to BP. We can't deny that BP have that power but not releasing songs and not performing for so long is kinda frustrating as a fan. Because Music, performance, and their voices are mainly the reason we stan.
The only year blackpink did not release music is 2021. Even with that members released solos. Jisoo was casting in a drama and Jennie with her unreleased hbo series. Also what Is the difference in having two comebacks a year with 4 songs each and having one with eight songs songs its the same to me. Atleast blackpink took two and more years to enter this and knew what they were doing unlike these newbies with two months after debut.
As someone who's been a K-POP fan since, like 2011, I personally think it's partially YG's fault. Their label has always been known for its artists and their fashion, and YG had a BIG part in shaping the Hallyu wave in general with BIGBANG and 2NE1. I feel like, because other then BTS a huge part of K-POP's image is attributed to YG in the West, once K-POP idols became popular and GD opened the doors, everybody began expecting the rest of K-POP idols to be like YG artists, and offered partnerships to other labels who glady accepted for the money.
@@sarakim3855 Did I told that bts was the reason for this? Did I told you that I am stanning some other kpop group? How come you assume that I targeted bts alone?
Having brand deals with luxury brands is the smartest thing they can do! Money in music is in ownership (writing, producing) NOT in being a member of a group. I wouldn’t be surprised if idols arent as rich as their net worth.
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
I agree that 4th generation idols being embassadors of big fashion houses doesn't make sense as most don't have a distinctive fashion/styling yet nor have markatable audience. But after saying this, i also do have to mention that wonyeong being the embassador of miu miu was so perfect, she fit the image of the brand so perfectly. even though i don't follow her or ive personally, i still think miu miu did a great job picking her as their embassador.
One thing I also miss is Idols dressing themselves up, like 4/5 years ago you could see the fashion sense each idol had for example BTS or EXO at the Airport (and yea even then they had stylists but you could really see the fashion color/taste of each idol) nowadays they all have stylists who plan these outfits for them and dress them up in Brands that are expensive even for their Dance Practice videos, so I really don’t get why the newer generation of Idols is being dragged so early into fashion when they don’t even have the time nor experience to find their own sense in fashion, in what they’ll like or what fits the best for them. When i first got into kpop i was still a kid with no money or the approval from my mom, so the only thing that I kinda could pull of was the fashion from these idols, being experimental with the clothing I already had but when I see these young teens being 13/14 and wearing these luxury brands( some of these pieces being also very rare to buy) I kinda feel sorry for the new Kpop fans…
It feels odd to see new 4th gen idols being ambassadors to big fashion houses rly quickly despite not rly having their own “look” to themselves. Most outfits are curated by stylists (nothing wrong that), its just that we wanna see the idol in the brand and how the idol’s PERSONAL style is in lined w the brand. That was how brands usual picked their ambassadors, representatives, etc (along side with other factors ofc). It just feels so forced onto, especially younger idols. Plus they’re demographic audiences may be young and not being able to afford to support their idol.
YES!! Kpop should not be about fashion show. IVE being a rookie and being ambassador of fashion brands is just too much. It will not be a problam if they focus on comebacks more but it is not happening. BTS being ambassador of fashion brands is not a problam because they are on a break. But rookie idols being ambassador of fashion brands is not a good start of their career.
Am enjoying this😂 . I remember how every fandom hated on blackpink by saying they r models. And now their own favs are becoming one. Blackpink paved the way for them for these brand deals . The fact blackpink earned their deals with their influence separates them from these rookies
true blackpink took time and effort to build the reputation they have in the fashion world and they love doing it. Their respective brands suit them too and they are loyal to the brand
Blackpink case is different! They are way much focused on brands then their music and cbs! Nd that's what makes people mad! Not because they are models! Its because it looks like brands>>music.. While other groups like twice and bts has always prioritized music.. Bts are now finally accepting solo brand deals because hyung line will soon leave for military, so as per they said their focus shifted to solo actives but its still music over brands for them
I’m not worried about BTS, being brand ambassadors is just a side gig for them, I even heard they turned down fashion companies because they wanted a 7 member deal before they decided to focus on themselves individually they would only accept offers that all 7 members would do like the contract they had with LV. BTS main focus is always music, they could attend thousands of fashion shows, do kdramas, or be ambassadors of many fashion brand their focus is always gonna be MUSIC.
the answer to this is because everyone is following yg. it works for ygas some of their songs can still climb to the charts despite hiatus but it doesn't mean that it will also works for others. yg embraces diversity and uniqueness just like in fashion that is why they can blend fashion and music like gd, cl, mino, bp. i saw some others that can also pull this off because of their unique vibe but some idols they made those brands looks really cheap.
Seeing BTS members as brand ambassador is not shocking cause they have more than 300 songs under their name.Bts promoting brands IS A SIDE JOB cause they are more focused on their main job which is to write songs,Collab, Create new music etc.But for 4th gen idols i think they need to prioritise making music before promoting brands.
One thing I am 1000% sure is BTS would attend thousands of fashion shows, can model for another thousand things or even do tons of k-drama...but their first priority will always remain music. They would keep recommending songs of diff. artists to us (esp. RM and V), can't go a single live without telling how they have been doing on their solo album and what not.
That's what I love about BTS. It's 2023 and just well fed we are. Despite the fact that they're moving into military one by one, they keep interactions with fans, constantly produce music and Yet To Come and Jhope movie came out. Like, as fans, we're well fed with content even if we can't afford those designer brands
no hate to kpop, cus i stan some groups, but just as a general music lover, kpop's first priority is not music lol just my perspective. When i first got exposed to it, my impression was and is that the visual aspect is #1 in kpop.
Not for bts though . They haven't accepted any solo brand deals for 10 years till 2022 bc they all want to focus in music . BTS really love to make music
Speaking on behalf of armys let me tell you one thing we really don't care about the brand deals. Bts had been a house ambassador of LV for 1.5 years and they didn't attend even one fashion week but non of us complained or even noticed nor did we start trolling LV for not calling them and why so? Because they were and are still giving out the best music. At that time they were busy topping the billboard 100 rather than caring about this. They were offered several brand deals back in 2016 and onwards but they didn't accept them. They still had their clothes customized by huge brands on any event.
This video just proved blinks are rich lol. We can buy what blackpink endorse😭😭 And I didn't have much problem with bp being ambassadors cause it felt like they got those deals after much considerations, and bcuz they wanted to. But now these groups getting deals is just a way of promotion. Like after the contracts end with these brands no one will remember these groups in the fashion world bcuz they may have an influence in the music world but fashion is different. Blackpink took time and effort in building the reputation they have in the fashion world
You’re delusional if you think even 15% of BP fans can afford Chanel, most are literal kids. You’re also delusional if you think their brand endorsement was nothing but to promote them, they’re not different than any other idol right now getting brand endorsements to promote them. That’s how BP turned into influencers.
@@j.a9558 this is how children talk who brag about privileged women who never had to work for their fame, imagine bragging about someone else’s money and fame
Say what you wanna say, BLACKPINK is the biggest fashion influencers right now.. You may say they're not the first for sure but they're the ones who contribute the biggest publicity/media value to the fashion houses they represent. Fashion houses literally had their biggest growth because of BLACKPINK's ambassadorship. They worked for it and they earned it. NOT handed to them like most of these new groups do, and these new groups don't even know what they are doing. LOL...
But who are they influencing...? The rich people...? The top 10%...? Who do you see actually wearing Chanel or Dior on the streets? BlackPink or not, most people can't even afford the things they sponsor. The trend now is y2k, and BLACKPINK had absolutely NO hand in that.
@@katgreer6113 The trend now is y2k, and BLACKPINK had absolutely NO hand in that. ???? Have you looked at each brand's year-end summary? Dior recently posted a thank you to Jisoo for making more than 200% profit for the brand. Lisa celine grew 540% from last year. I must say that the fashion industry is a high society Impact on the amount The brand at BP is considered high-end. sorry General people are not customers. Don't compare with lower grade brands.
@@parkpark6976 that's what I'm saying. You just proved my point💀 general people don't wear those things. And their profits were increased because of people who could AFFORD those things. Dior and Celine rarely make y2k fashion for teens(kpops target market). They are clearly targeted towards older, skinny, rich, women. So like I said, BLACKPINK's high-end endeavors had no effect on the general public. Good for them for selling to the rich women.
The thing is as the korean culture is getting bigger with kpop idols and kdrama brands want to to take that to their advantage, you’ll see brands have ambassadors in almost all regions in the world, and the korean industry is getting bigger and bigger globally, idols are still making the same amount of music and comebacks regardless of how many brands they represent, for example blackpink, yg groups are known for not making a lot of comebacks, and them making money from brands when they will not be having a comeback is a good thing, I don’t get the people that complain about this, like do you want your favorite idol to not be getting their bag? And it’s not like those brand campaigns take a lot of their time either, good for them for making money honestly, especially those that have a lot of trainee debt, their companies take a lot of their earnings in general, it’s not like these big luxury brands don’t know the value of the artists they sign, if they don’t get the results done then they probably won’t be signing with them again, and tbh i love it when i see idols meet western celebs in fashion shows that’s more content for me to enjoy
Famous Kpop stars are not limited, they branch out and can do anything besides music with fashion etc, they are multifaceted and talented and will excel in all areas of the entertainment industry, being brand ambassadors is a lucrative business for them
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
Absolutely though its silly AF when underaged idols suddenly luxury brand ambassadors the week after their debut. The brands also dillutes their own brand value.
I actually think it is wrong to promote luxury brands cause they are indirectly and most of the times directly promoting animal abuse (wool, silk, leather, fur)
Most kpop idols do not have long careers or make relatively little money. Some continue to make music, but have difficulty getting funds for the next album. Some are forced to disband by their companies or aren't offered to renew their contract. For some, their company doesn't pay them, shuts down due to mismanagement, or mistreats them. If there is any way for them to make more money to secure their future, I'm all for it. I feel so sad when I see videos that show former idols that are part-timers at convenience stores or work as wait staff at restaurants. They had to put in so much sweat and sacrifice a good part of a normal childhood to end up there? Let them take what they can get while they can.
It is only a problem if their sidegigs take time away from their idol activities in my opinion. However, I do find it a bit annoying to see a bunch of advertisements on products when I follow these idols for their music and activities.
I completely agree with a lot of the sentiment regarding this issue I believe that idols should be idols and then maybe after their time is an idol is over if they want to switch to being in fashion then that's okay but they should stick with the music
it’s cool to see that even tho bts is a huge act, they never took on brands as big as fashion houses at the start. they did things that would appeal to masses like puma, fila, hyundai, samsung, coway, actual products used in everyone’s daily life n finally said yes to fashion houses later on
Lisa is not prada ambassador you got that wrong, she just attended their fashion show once and they didn't confirm anything, just like when Rosé went to Valentino fashion show once, and I've heard Lisa isn't working with MAC anymore. And as for Rosé she also is global ambassador for sulwhasoo brand (a beauty brand). The rest of the info provided is correct. Yeah just wanted to add that. And aslo it is true that now kpop is too focused on fashion brands, i do think it should be a side gig and groups should focus more on music especially those who don't have enough influence yet to have such big titles like ambassador....
Well , seeing how some idols are tied to slave contacts sometimes brand deals are what put food on the table, also, who said just because you are a singer you have to only do that? And also, you can decide later on your career that you prefer to model or do something else other that what you are doing now and if the chance presents itself why not taking it? Besides labels Lee h off the money the idols made if fashion leaves them more profit than records of course they will push that
@@doremirse9950 we all are here for the music yet as a PR major myself I know what they do what they do. And yes, it’s irritating that no one says anything if Ariana Grande becomes the face of whatever makeup brand but god forbids a kpop idol do because they are selling themselves and forgetting about their fandom. It’s so stupid
This was bound to happen. Companies want to associate their products with visible public figures, and if you're the fashion industry, beautiful (and slender) Korean women are perfect models. The visibility was mostly local, like IU and soju, until Blackpink went international and the Houses took notice of their fame, beauty, and talent. I understand the annoyance that newcomers are also being signed with achieving BP-levels of fame, but you have to see it from the Houses' viewpoint. If they don't sign them now, someone else will. Betting on New Jeans and Babymonster is a pretty safe bet, so they don't see a downside. For the singers, it's extra money, a closet full of designer clothes, and free trips to France and Italy. Would you turn that down?
the thing is that with celebrities from any other country, they need to be recognized for their fashion and style before getting a brand deal with all these designer brands so what makes k-pop idols so different. i get that they're all gorgeous but u can't tell me that any of these 4th gen (and even some 3rd gen) groups have had a bigger impact on the world of fashion than, for example, Harry Styles, who only got his deal with Gucci 7 years into his career. idols will wear a brand name hat with ears and some baggy jeans with a brand name necklace and people will start asking where the brand deals are at when it actually takes a good fashion sense and global admiration to be profitable to any of these companies. but then again k-pop stans will do anything for their faves so i shouldn't be that surprised
@@parkpark6976 i don't like their music but yeah, their fashion is immaculate and i understand why they were chosen to be GBAs. but why tf are all these 4th gens with only 2 years under their belt get to be on the same level as them? u know what i mean?

BTS rejected offers from fashion houses earlier because they wanted to focus on their music, there are articles stating this. a member even talked about this in one of their documentaries that they were offered the chance to scale up quickly but bts wanted to do it at their own pace. For bts music has always been #1 and their dedication shows in the music they put out. also when bts makes brand deals with anyone its on their own terms, they have that much power. when louis vuitton signed bts, bts was still wearing different brands. they were not obligated to wear only LV as opposed to other idols. they only did a few photoshoots, a fashion show and the grammys last year was when all of them were dressed in LV at the same time. JImin and Yoongi as dior and valentino's brand ambassadors is not just a fashion thing...this is going to connect to their solo album release. Both Yoongi and Jimin are anticipated to be the next members to be releasing their albums...this is a part of their promotion. they are building anticipation for their albums. for others, their brand deals have become the main thing. my advice to the newer idols is to focus on music. focus on songwriting, production, your performance etc. if you have a strong discography to your name, you will find your fans which in turn will make the brands notice you. there's a lot of time for other things. you want to be known for your music not your side jobs. without a strong discography, you will only be known as instagram models or someone who cosplays as a singer sometimes. Also i feel the styling of a lot of the newer idols is too polished, too neat. like someone in one of the comments you mentioned in the video, it does reek of snobbery and pretentiousness.
Black Pink has a unique formula and their brand ambassadorships is something that people insult them for yet simultaneously want for their favs. Brand deals have always been intrinsically woven into the fabric of being an idol. An idol is more that just creating music, it’s always been about dabbling in all aspects of entertainment including acting, variety shows, Mcing and performing. Fashion is just seems to been a new addition that. It’s weird to me that any fan would be opposed to this, especially outside of the big three companies + Hybe. If you debut outside of these companies and you’re lucky enough to get a brand ambassadorship that actually pays money that’s extremely beneficial to the idol as some idols don’t get paid until a year or even two years plus after their debut. For example, all of the girls in Loona have yet to receive a paycheck. Had they received a brand ambassadorship, it could have potentially helped them with being paid out by their company instead of continuously being taken advantage of and overworked.
Doing brand endorsements is kinda how members of a group single themselves out from their specific group. They’re not going to be idols forever and being a model can last much longer.
being a brand ambassador is no longer something to be regarded as exclusive when so many idols are doing it. it doesn't hold the same weight like it did when g-dragon partnered with chanel which he supported for many years, it makes sense for him. blackpink are extremely influential so it makes sense for them too. now it's just something idols from big companies are basically handed. it's no longer impressive, it's just fuel in fanwars lol
iu is the perfect mixture of pure goodness she releases music albums or music related pallete episodes music albums singles pallete episodes iu tv youtube content movies dramas pictorials gucci model wins awards doesnt take fans for granted and treats them valueble everything is perfect for me as a single stan for iu its the worlds best job is to be a uaena
I’m not liking this fashion brand deals trend taking over the kpop industry, yes it makes groups more popular/make more money but soon companies will focus more on finding pretty people to debut because they’ll get brand deals and companies will stop caring about talent and focus more on looks. Idols will turn into ig models/focus more on that than singing live/ making music, I’ve already seen some idols (I won’t say names) focus more on fashion shows/brand deals instead of putting on a show/focusing on their music. Same thing goes for the fans, now there is an increase of kpop fans wanting their favs to get a brand deal and they brag about fashion achievements instead of praising groups for their music, they are even starting to make excuses for lip singing when idols jobs are singing/rapping/dancing, that was what they trained for. Bts and iu are a good example of artists that don’t focus on these brand deals more than their music, bts was offered many brand deals back in 2018 when they were on tour but rejected them because they were focused on tours/releasing music, even now that Yoongi and jimin are ambassadors, they don’t let that side gig become their number 1 priority, they are still working on their solo albums, and iu has brand deals but makes music her priority not posting on ig all the time or having photoshoot all the time for a brand.
This was very much needed, this is mainly after groups and companies saw how Blackpink made their impact and longevity in the industry without releasing actual music throughout their career, their job is basically these brand deals and modelings. Nothing wrong with having these deals as a side job when you have an actual impact through music and that's why Bp has the most divided and toxic fandom. BTS would be a good example, till their recent times no member was given individual deals and only promoted as a group. They have released many albums and hundreds of songs unlike Blackpink and many 4th gen groups with just 30-40 songs and 100s of advertisements. BTS is on hiatus due military and the next best thing is Twice they still release consistent music and perform with true passion and are not that invested in Ads like the groups mentioned above.
tbh brand deals with musicians, in general, aren't a new thing globally for example there is Rihanna with Fenty I don't understand why people shame Blackpink for being involved in fashion saying they forgot abt the music what abt rihanna??? she came back to music after 6 years... u can be a great musician and be a face of a brand especially I'm sure since Blackpink doesn't have so many cbs in a year the girls must feel bored not seeing fans or working as well... these fashion deals give them a chance to express themselves more and to be interactive with media even when on hiatus before cb
This is something I was thinking about a lot recently after seeing some Instagram pages of the idols I follow. It is indeed at times boring and makes me me lose some interest in the groups they are a part of because the members at times seem distant from and unrelated to music and dance and performance. Like I would love to see covers of songs and dances or something random. But not this. And what is important is this affects the girl groups more. Girl groups have been going so strong recently. It makes me sad that many idols can't invest much time in their primary profession. If they were going to be models (and not as good as actual models), they shouldn't have signed up for a performance/music based industry. The company is the culprit. But idols need to speak out about this too. It makes me miss all the previous gens so much(yes blackpink did endorsements but they actually suited it and were the only group that were so sought after).
I don't get how are these luxury brands taking in literal children (new jeans) as brand ambassadors like bruh them promoting teenagers stuff would've been understandable
There is nothing wrong with idols being ambassadors and absolutely not a bit of problem with groups like BTS, twice who focus on music too but 4th gen focusing more on being the face of luxury brands instead of focusing on music is not acceptable in my opinion... I mean we're here for the music
No matter how hard idols try - there is just no stability in being just an idol look at all the senior idols, its pretty clear being an idol doesn’t pay ur bills for a lifetime. New and young idols literally teens are debuting every year. Old n experienced lost its value. Fans are looking for korean standard, expression while dancing, synced choreography lol whatnot. Old bones cannot do hard choreos on diets. It’s actually good they start doing something on side when they have fame.
I think if it's an idol who loves fashion like say Jennie or Key, then it makes sense to sign them as ambassadors. But just to add a famous name to something makes both the company and artist look bad. We love their music and fans should be proud of these deals, but I agree. The old days when it was everyday brands that fans could all enjoy were better. Now it's more overpriced fashion pieces a lot of fans just cant afford.
What most people don’t understand is that to be an embassador the brand needs to contact the idols team not the contrary, and by the end music is the thing that gives an artist the least money so it’s understandable why kpop companies go crazy when receiving a call to have one of their idols as an embassador or just a photoshoot.
I get it but then they should not complain for the backlash. I am here for the music not the fashion. Dont ask me to spend money on your misic if yon dont even make some😭
it seems like kpop is becoming a way to be ambassadors of brands or a way to become a actor and less about actually being a artist and singer and that started with blackpink
Fr It's not like some particular idols become brand ambassadors, it's more like it you become a kpop idol you'll get a brand even though you got no unique style
@@Isabella-dg2qw their job should mainly and above all be singers, rappers and dancers and it seems like that's not that important anymore and I never said blackpink did anything bad is dumb companies fault for following yg steps
One thing is when an artist who worked as an idol for 10 years gets an ambassador status while still promoting their music and focusing on their artist career and other thing is when a group that just debuted is already getting a hundred deals connected with fashion and appearing more on magazines covers that on stage or after these deals completely forgetting about music and focusing only on attending fashion shows
I think idols should make money anyway they can to pay off their debts to their company as fast as possible. Also this Marketing technique has been around for ages maybe b/c Kpop is getting popular it seems like a big deal. Musicians and clothing have been a combination for years both mediums allowing for freedom of expression. Also 14 yr olds these days are indeed spending the money to purchase these items just look at any social media.
I understand brand endorsement and actually find it really amazing for BIG groups like BLACKPINK, BTS or even Twice, but what the hell is aespa and ive doing being brand ambassadors???
Yes please i hope this competition on bagging brand deals dies down. However, we need to realize that the “idol” spectrum is evolving and now also includes overall branding. And part of branding is the ability to sell products aside from music.
Finally someone made video on these topic!!! It is really annoy me when I saw literally teenager are modeling for big brand, sure they are famous, but they are too young to be brand ambassador of big companies. Now don't drag BTS or Blackpink, because they started their modeling career after becoming internationally famous and massive popular. Even they are grown up to handle it. But these 14 or 15 years kids can do it??? No for sure....I know for it idols are getting more money But if you see the negative sides, they influence unhealthy beauty standards and fashion....which make them some Instagram models not singer while their actual job is to perform in the stages
I feel like the only idol who resembles the second gen in case of this special topic is bts jin. He endorse some affordable brands and those brands recently became trillioniers
Brand deal, fashion shows, etc that these idols attend is like you said, a side job. The photo shoots, interviews, live runway streams, they’re all extra content. Consume if you want, don’t if you want. Doesn’t matter. Where the issue is, is when kpop stans make it their fav’s WHOLE IDENTITY! Like jisoo. Ive seen so many blinks pissed off this week. Blinks were pissed cause armys were numbering people and saying jisoo is nothing to dior. Exo members have been in the fashion world for a long time but we never had a fight with them for brands or influence cause male fashion world and female fashion world are whole different thing, but armys see everything as a competition they wanted to drag down Jisoo's image in the fashion world they arent even a part of?! We are not the problem mate

That money will most definitely go to the idols unlike the money they get from their company. Did y'all forget these idols go into debt when joining these companies. Twice was so happy to get out of debt with JYPE they made a post about it.

GD really made a mark on the industry. 2NE1 being icons. The BlackPink effect is real as well. YG is legit fashion idol house.
Sure… 😂
I agree, or they should at least have their own style bc it really shows if you're really into fashion or not
Yeah so true, I think now kpop lack of originality. Especially 4th gen
Woah well said
You're right many Blink like what Blackpink are doing but many blinks also want blackpink to woke more as music artist

Jennie actually became ambassador really early lol but Blackpink literlly blew up straight after debut lol
Or even before.. see: ILLIT
I just hate how kpop idols have shifted into being everything but what they're supposed to be: artists and performers. I think its crazy that nowadays some idols are applauded for singing live?? Like its literally their job
I remember respecting kpop back in 2012 cause I barely see anyone lipsync-ing. Now it’s just to showcase hard dances and face. It’s sad to see that
But that's cause majority groups aren't artists and just idols.

Yes
Their influence made KPOP not focus more into the music but brands and being a fashion model tho. And I hate to see the current generation turn to that.
@moo That's understandable. However, at the end of the day.. Kpop is still a business. Any idol or musician knows this. As much as we want it to be only about the music, it will never be. That's the reason some groups disband after a couple of months. Why some are getting kicked out of their dorms. Let's not put down these idols that are just chasing their bag 😂🤷🏾♀️
They are huge influencers and from time to time they happen to sing

There's nothing wrong with celebs becoming ambassador for luxury fashion brands, what's wrong is that 'fans' sees this as a competition, whose fave promotes more expensive/high valued brands. It's ridiculous. A singers' worth shouldnt be determined by what brand they promote, they arent models lol
I do agree with the comment, why would rookie groups that have minors in it promote luxury brands?
Yes I care for vocal and the way they deliver performance and music
Thats the win win position for the brand and the group. Say "who gonna buy it cz they minor" "they dont suit brand concept" ect...like you smarter than the brand. That makes me laugh hard.
Also they are a group that has managed to sell put cars and make models of automobiles and phones go out of stock. So the fandom (obviously working individuals) can afford fashion brands (that is if the want to indulge cause not everyone wants to).

People complain because they release more fashion stuff than music stuff.
this is also why I LOVE TREASURE they have many advertisements and brand deals with more affordable things for their fans the consumers, and fans can buy their endorsements from convenience stores in Korea even for Blackpink they have endorsements as well with Oreo etc...
BTS have a big impact on general public and kpop as a whole that's why people are pointing this out even when armys have been calling this out since so long but anyways bts are still safe
they are working on their individual music and group and doing these brand deals as side jobs 🤷

The rookie idols have been like blue chips nowadays. You dont buy now, others will. Who know when they become big stars.
“Why would young groups like AESPA, Ive or even New Jeans be a brand ambassador, who are they influencing?”
Obviously their fans?

Like it or not, Blackpink paved the way for brand ambassadorship for kpop. And the way they did/do is so fresh and original. They actually have the selling numbers to back up their campaigns.
Blackpink are pioneers in proving to the world, you can do music, fashion, acting, influencing, etc.,
Before antis pounce on saying but they only have 35 songs, those songs are all popular and recognizable.
The fans who are using these ambassadorships as a way to top other fandoms are only doing so because they know musically, their group/idol cannot match up to the other groups/idols. It's not a good brag when idols are more known for modeling and influencing then music. Blackpink has entered the chat
I think half the reason why some new gen Idols take up endorsement deals... it may be for the company's to spread the idols popularity but I think for the idols is probably to be able to pay off their debts for the companies putting investment into them so I think the more endorsement they get the faster they can pay off their debt.
Trueee
BTS are the brand themselves!

The rookie thing is definitely paid
I mean brands look for a subtle and constant influence, someone who has experience,(who matches the vibes) can actually attract buyers instead of just going viral with the cover photos (or attract 14 year olds who may buy these for some time and then move on to another)
Weren't wonyoung, hyein and denielle child models, that means they were in modling industry even before becoming idols
For wonyoung one I disagree, she has that influence since she's the most popular 4th gen female idol and 3rd overall in 4th gen!
I will say it again. Do you think the brands are stupid? You are smarter than them?

We can't deny that BP have that power but not releasing songs and not performing for so long is kinda frustrating as a fan. Because Music, performance, and their voices are mainly the reason we stan.
The only year blackpink did not release music is 2021. Even with that members released solos. Jisoo was casting in a drama and Jennie with her unreleased hbo series. Also what Is the difference in having two comebacks a year with 4 songs each and having one with eight songs songs its the same to me.
Atleast blackpink took two and more years to enter this and knew what they were doing unlike these newbies with two months after debut.

All YG, Black Pink started... Being Global ambassador of Luxury brands (Fashion)
You can say, YG had the worst idea but always succeeded.
At last someone spoke about it, kpop has never been about music ever since early 2020

I agree that 4th generation idols being embassadors of big fashion houses doesn't make sense as most don't have a distinctive fashion/styling yet nor have markatable audience. But after saying this, i also do have to mention that wonyeong being the embassador of miu miu was so perfect, she fit the image of the brand so perfectly. even though i don't follow her or ive personally, i still think miu miu did a great job picking her as their embassador.
they called blackpink ig models and now everyone gets a contract on their second day ☹️ awe bribing much huh
Ppl always hating on Blackpink lol 💀
Fashion chingu

Despite the fact that they're moving into military one by one, they keep interactions with fans, constantly produce music and Yet To Come and Jhope movie came out.

no hate to kpop, cus i stan some groups, but just as a general music lover, kpop's first priority is not music lol just my perspective.
We can buy what blackpink endorse😭😭
And I didn't have much problem with bp being ambassadors cause it felt like they got those deals after much considerations, and bcuz they wanted to. But now these groups getting deals is just a way of promotion.

This is the problem. They're putting rookies at such a high position when their names are not even known individually yet.

Yes please i hope this competition on bagging brand deals dies down. However, we need to realize that the “idol” spectrum is evolving and now also includes overall branding. And part of branding is the ability to sell products aside from music.

@@KdramaTeen2705 called him slurs and shit talked about his looks over a brand deal but you guys are not the problem?? the Instagram post announcing him as an global ambassador had comments filled with "jisoo is the only real ambassador" or "only cha eunwoo, sehun and jisoo's visuals suit dior's elegant imagine" but y'all are not the problem??
stop putting all the blame on armys and behaving like saints, as if y'all don't attack every female idol who wears tweed or chanel and call them "wannabe jennie".
@@vrishabhandari4349 ikr?!! These people first stir up the shit then when we ARMYs express our anger, they immediately pull out the victim card.
@@vrishabhandari4349 no no... the are the victimmm... don't make they cry.. poor innocent them..
@@KdramaTeen2705 This. Same thing with Celine last year. Army acting like they own the place.
