Hats off, Letterboxd. Arranging this little session to talk about films with artisans is such a treat during awards season. Getting to see and hear them. I got plenty recommendations from these. Thank you!
For those keeping track, Bobi did say four films in the video. There was a glitch that didn't carry over the poster for The Last King of Scotland, so Rocky III, Beverly Hills Cop, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Last King of Scotland
Since it's playing on TV, it's probably the 5 hr. Version, which is edited as a mini-series, and was the one intended for television. The 3 hr. edit was made for theatrical showings.
@@Winduct sorry to ruin the bit but I’m not saying you’re dumb and can’t understand the plots, all I’m implying is jokingly that you may struggle with non-linear structures!
Memento, lord of the rings, Do the right thing, Godfather 1-2, Red shoes, The Thing, Citizen Kane, Indiana Jones, Pan’s Labyrinth, Star Wars, Close encounters, Taxi driver, Prince of Egypt, …. as I said, lots of greats.
@@guysimchony309 Well I notice that most filmmakers cite either '70s movies (The Godfather, 2001, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, those sort of stuff) or movies from the past two decades (which is fair enough, modern movies appeal more to you)... When you get the foreign film makers, they will rightfully champion films from their own countries with some '70s American movies. My top 4 are not that niche but now I don't want to say it because I sound like a total niche ass. LOL
@@RichardHannay yeah that’s true. Something about the New Hollywood era really captured filmmakers’ imagination. But don’t be afraid to share your opinion, let it rip. I can give you mine (imprecisely): Her, Midnight Cowboy, The Apartment, Tokyo Story
guysimchony309- I wouldn't necessarily say there's all that wide a range since I've noticed so many people all choosing many of the same things over and over again. And RichardHannay - 2001 was 1968, how do you possibly not even know the decade that movie came out?
"He's trying to go all criterion on us" lol
oppenheimer trio with upcoming oscars
Undeserved...
Completely deserved, excellent craftsmanship.
Oppenheimer is total shit. But I’ll consider these awards as reconciliation for Tenet.
As Ciliian said, Oppenhomie lol
@@lesryglrhfohser Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Hoyte Van Hoytema, lovely soul.
So cool hearing Hoyte and Ludwigs picks

Love that Hoytema mentioned Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate
They got Bobi freakin' Wine!

I wonder if it's the 3hr or 5hr version of fanny & alexander plays every christmas in Sweden.

As a Swede I can confirm that its the 5 h one
I thoroughly appreciate the Rocky III selection
It is the moment i switched it off. No need. There are criterion closet picks

The way you edit your videos is confusing. Can't keep track of who picks what.
Nolan films aren’t for you then?

Libatique's list rules them all.
En kärlekshistoria (A Swedish love story) is one of my favourites
TEMPLE OF DOOM YESSSSS
Yess, "The Intouchables", "LOTR Trilogy", "Memento" and "The Godfather" 🎉🎉
Pretty sure he meant the US Brian De Palma film, not the French comedy.
@@badeboom and here we go....
He definitely extra clarified that he meant The Intouchables
@@LetterboxdHQthanks for making it clear

Loved, loved, LOVED that Last Holiday pick. So inspired lol! A top winter movie for me
Jennifer Lane is so hot and a very talented editor. Congrats on the win.
What is that one thing?
I really hope Giamatti wins. One of the best actors around.
lots of great choices 🤙🏻
Not really. The majority were either random garbage, or solid but basic.
@Slask7 Prince of Egypt...the children's cartoon? Are you like seven, or mentally r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d?
