    though I had some problem with sea water It also ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

    I appreciate your attitude and ethics for metal detecting keep up the good work! Nice job bringing home the trash. The more people that do that while metal detecting the better we will all be. Thank you.

      +Ventana Hiker Thank you! I try to practice safe detecting. :) I agree, it didn't hurt me any to bring it home and throw it away. :)

    Good call picking up the glass, very kind of you! Keep working that area, the old history dictates that there should be some good stuff there! Good luck!

    I use to live in New Port Richie and use to swim at that beach! Everyone use to keep tripping on a big hunk of metal and we kept throwing back out to deeper water. You guessed it! That big hunk of metal turned out to be a big hunk of fused together Spanish coins!!!! All the while I owned a Garrett dealership and had detectors in my car! I still haven't stopped kicking my butt for that!

      +Glenn Jones Did you really? Hahaha. Did you lose anything I can try finding? And keeping? Hahahahaha. No way! You're joking! Oh wow. So obviously someone found it. Damn..... :/

    I just know that old beach has some awesome potential. Lots of old style beaver tail tabs. I would be interested in see what your next hunt finds there. Good luck. Thanks for sharing.

    Corroded zinc pennies...the bane of my metal detecting existence! Along with pull tabs. Thanks for the pinpointer demo. I picked up the land or sea for San Diego's rocky, mineralized beaches. HH

      +JP Diggzzit Hahaha! You're telling me. You're very welcome. I enjoyed doing it. Fantastic. I don't think you'll be disappointed. There's another short demo in the video I'm loading right now. But it's with junk that I found so not sure if it'll be very helpful. Thanks for watching and HH to you as well!

    At about 8 minutes into your video you pulled up an older pulltab. I like finding those because it says two things... 1. The vintage pultab era was a lot closer to the silver era & 2. Nobody has detected there before unless they skipped over the pulltab signals - in which case that's always good because if they skipped the pulltabs they also skipped the gold.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому +1

      Oh I hadn't thought about it being close to the silver era, that's great thinking though!! Yea, I'll be digging all those pull tab signals for sure. :)

    I have the same exact detector and scoop, the darn scoop is heavier than the detector it looks to be made from stainless steel with a heavy duty shovel handle.
    However, my coil is a little different more round and thicker. I wonder if the store I bought mine from swapped out my coil

    The Natural Spring is South of the Crystal beach pier, there is another pier a private one just South of where you filmed. It's 20 yards off shore. It's interesting what you are doing, we think we may start dectecting as well it looks fun. Thanks for what you do.

    I have hunted this beach numerous times. I always walk away with several hundred dollars worth of goodies! The secret is to NOT hunt the beach! Hunt the mangrove brushes. When the tide comes in it washes up numerous articals into the mangroves and they just sit there waiting to be discovered! Go back again and follow my advice. Also use a Minelab Excalibur detector. It works better for that beach. Great video!

    I love looking at the ocean in your videos and at least you got some glass off the beach. It was fifty six degrees here in Wisconsin were I live and I was finally able to metal detect for the first time this year ! I went out Sat, Sun and Mon and I only got a few tokens and lots of clad but I was a happy camper. Thanks for your video and happy hunting !

      +Jakes Life vlf single freq will only scratch the surface of wet sand... but yeah she can try, it will disapoint you tho

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      +Jakes Life Good, so it's not just me. Hahaha. I'll be trying again during low tide for sure. I'll take the F19 out the next time. I'm just scared because the box isn't waterproof. But I'll rig something up just in case. :)

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому +1

      +Youdig Oh really? It's funny you say that. I took it out over the weekend for Howard Park and dug three bogus signals in the wet sand. I thought my setting where jacked up but no. That video is coming out tomorrow so you'll see what I'm talking about. I was really hoping it would do well at the beach. Well, it did good on dry sand, not so much the wet stuff. :/

    • @youdig-detection
      @youdig-detection 8 років тому

      +She Detector like every other vlf single frequency my makro racer go only 5 cm / 2inch deep in wet water for a 1 euro coin, but in dry sand is quite good apparently , from what i saw the only vlf single freq that doing ok in water / wet sand seem to be at pro, after that it in the realm of multrifeq vlf like fbs or bbs system (etrac,excaliburII,sovereign,ctx3030,safari) or pulse induction like your garrett. Btw i dont know how you do to answer this amount of comment !!!! big up for that.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

      Youdig Ooh really? That's odd that is can't go very deep in the water. I've heard the AT Pro doesn't handle salt water very well but I'm not really sure. Hahaha, well it's getting harder to answer every comment. I might have to start only answering a few! Hehehe, we shall see!

    Peers are usually great to detect. A pavilion was built over the water at our lake back in the 1870's and burnt down in the 1960's and all was left were the pylons that it use to sit on. The water was low so I detected around there and found a Morgan silver dollar with the date 1900. My first ! Found a lot of fishing lures and beer caps too ! Hope you go back at low tide. May find something good. Great video as always.

    That beach looks very promising maybe when it gets warmer go out a little further in the swimming area. With the water temp in the high 60's and low 70's its painful for me but refreshing in a way..

    you seem a long way from the water. Is it best at low tide ? high tide ? 10 feet back ?
    the only coins I've found were 50' back from mid tide.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  6 років тому

      Ah yes. It was low tide when I got there so I started where the water usually was and worked my way out into the water. I should have done it the other way of course. I was still pretty new though. I didn't have any luck at this location though.

  • @wingrovedl
    @wingrovedl 8 років тому

    With the vinegar your using to clean the coins, add a teaspoon of table
    salt and stir till dissolved. It only takes minutes to start bubbling then scrub
    with a brush. But not for the old good coins, just the clad and pennies.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому

    When you scoop up a load of sand, I noticed you ran your detector over the hole to see if you picked up the object. You dumped the sand in the scoop before checking it. You could have multiple objects in the hole. Good hunting!

I think it's unlikely that I'll ever be able to get into it, (trying to survive on a small social security), but I can enjoy watching you and Tony Eisenhower and all the rest uncovering all sorts of treasure. I'm looking forward to your first good find almost as much as you are, lol. Don't let the meager pickings get you down. Perseverance will pay off and in the meantime you're learning a lot. I like that new location you've found! Am guessing the pier might well have a lot of metal bits left over from the structure and maybe a lot of sinkers? (if the pier was used by lots of fisherman as they so often are) It would be interesting to see what is around that spring - hopefully people used it as a sort of wishing well of sorts? I think those sinkers are maybe called 'torpedo' sinkers? (but I prefer the 'space pod' name a lot better :) I admired your method of using the hole itself to rinse the sand out of Rex in the shallow water to get some water depth with the bonus of putting the soil back in the hole! Look forward to seeing you explore this ex-beach some more. (up at 5am next time? ;-) )

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому +1

      +Simon Burton Yea, I think you're probably right. Lots of dropped nails and suck. that explains the sinkers I found. :) Yea, I'll be heading out to it once it warms back up. Well, so long as it's not crazy deep. I can only swim down about 8 feet. :) But a wishing well springs would be fantastic!! Oh ok, very good to know. Haha yea, I like space pod better also. :) Yep, I figured why work harder when I could work smarter. :) Ha! We will have to see about that!

    Hello she detector, Question what is the best scoop placement when detecting in water? for better retrieval. Center point or tip of detector.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому

      That's a great question! You want to put the tip of your scoop about 1-2 inches BEHIND your coil. When you find a target, put your foot behind your coil and then move the coil away. Place your scoop right in front of your toes. That should get the target for you almost every time. :)

      +parsons585 I bought the actually metal scoop part from Myers Metal Detectors here in Tampa. You can order it online to though I think. It's a plain Ash handle that tapers at the bottom.

    Just a tip - I noticed you are often off the mark when you go to scope or dig an item. Put down some items in plain sight and practice, noticing where they hit on your coil. As you now have two detectors - practice with both until you know the sweet spots. A few years of this and I still miss targets though so don't let it bother you if you're out a few inches ;) I'm from Canada - no detecting in the winter :(

      Hi! Thank you! And thanks for watching. I believe we picked them up from an ACE Hardware. But you can get similar ones from Lowes, Home Depot, or any other hardware store. They aren't anything fancy. Just make sure to get some with a hole in the middle so you can run zip ties through them to secure them to your scoop.

    The two "toothy things" are fence staples, for nailing wire to a wood post. The long fishing weight is a weight from a cast net, The "pointy thing" looks like it might be a hypo needle from a shot.

    May I make a suggestion also about detecting locations?
    Now I dont know if legal in the US but where I am it is. Primary Schools or any Schools with play equipment paricularly Mulch or Tan Bark base play equipment. What happened to your new fisher machine? I would think you would try it in the water. I also like your shoes. Are they keeping out the sand from getting into the shoes? I use sandals from crocks shoes and sand keeps building up under my foot. I see you also running into the glass. I was informing you to have gloves on due to finding sharp objects.

      +Gregory M Actually this hunt took place on the same day that I first took my Fisher out. I hunted the beach in the morning and then hit the park next. I just uploaded my Fisher video first. :) But I'm hesitant to take it near the water, only the coil and shaft is waterproof. I need to tape a bag around the box first...or something. Lol. Thank you, they are way better than no shoes. I'm very glad I had them at this dangerous beach! But they don't keep the sand out. Shells don't get in though so that's good. I have the same issue except it builds up under the shoe insert. No biggie, I rinse them out when I have to. Yes you were, I still haven't gotten better gloves yet. :( Soon! HH to you as well!

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  8 років тому +1

      +parsons585 You're very welcome. Nothing special. I bought some water shoes from walmart for like $10. They won't protect me from getting stung by a stingray but lets just hope that never happens! Hahaha. All the other beach hunters I've seen do wear special shoes though. I think they are diving shoes that actually cover your ankles. They are about 6-8 inches tall with a zipper on the side. Those will keep a sting ray barb from going into your skin, or so they say. When I first started, I didn't even have a sand scoop. I was using a shovel. Lol. It wasn't very efficient. But it worked. Then after a little bit I bought a scoop. To get started, really all you need is a detector and a tiny shovel. You'll be slower and less efficient but there's nothing wrong with that. As you do it longer, you'll start trying different things and buying items that will increase your speed. Congrats on retiring! At least you're starting a hobby that will keep you busy and off the couch. Plus, who wouldn't want to spend their days on the beach? :D

I work a normal job mon-fri though :/ Well I started off buying the Sea Hunter, my scoop, and the Garrett pin pointer myself. They said yes and sent me the Land or Sea, the Digger Pouch, and the Raptor Handle. They also sent a second Land or Sea and Digger Pouch for me to use for giveaways. Later on I was contacted by First Texas Texas (they make Teknetics, Bounty Hunter, and Fisher detectors) asking if I'd be interested in testing out their F19 LTD Pink Camo Metal Detector. I immediately jumped on that! So I get to play with these toys and I just talk about them and promote them a little bit. Hi! Love your videos. I'm moving to a beach in a couple months and would like to pick this up as a hobby. You seem to use a lot of different equipment throughout your videos so I thought you would be a good person to ask. Can you recommend a detector that is good for beach and shallow water for under $500? I don't need all the bells and whistles and all the extras but I definitely don't want a cheap piece of junk either. Any thoughts on what brands to stay away from? Seems like some detectors are for the serious hunter and others are promoted and marketed to sucker newbies like myself. Thanks for any info.

    • @SheDetector
      @SheDetector  7 років тому +1

      Hi! Well thank you! And thanks for watching. That's a great idea! :) As a matter of fact I can! If you plan of hunting MOSTLY in/near/around water, I highly recommend the Tesoro Sand Shark. It's a pulse induction (PI) machine, good to 200 feet deep, not super heavy on the arm, and it's VERY easy to locate the targets. BUT!! You MUST dig everything as this machine doesn't allow you to discriminate out ANYTHING. Check out Kellyco here: www.kellycodetectors.com/catalog/search/result/?c=&q=sand+shark The 1st and 2nd listings are brand new machines. The 1st one has a 10 inch coil and the 2nd one has an 8 inch coil. Both will work wonderfully. The 3rd and 4th listings are used machines. If you get a used one, get the 4th one as it's the 10 inch coil. You'll cover a little more ground with each swing. :) I wouldn't recommend using this machine on land though. It will pick up every tiny bit of metal and you will spend all day digging every tiny bit of foil and such.If you are planning on hunting on land, schools, park, sidewalks, etc. check out the Whites TreasurePro: www.kellycodetectors.com/catalog/treasurepro-spring-bundle This will be a great all around detector. On this machine, ONLY the coil is waterproof, not the entire thing. So you won't be able to go very deep in the water with it and you for sure wouldn't want to accidentally drop it in the water. I hope this helps a bit. :)
