I'm a huge fan of the Valeria series and definitely felt like this was their best release to date! The artwork by The Mico is amazing!!! I would argue that the whole game of chicken thing you discussed or someone else using the knights that you wanted is quintessential worker placement. I felt the game was super engaging and had a good level of "should I do this now, or do I risk it a couple turns"
So solo mode would cost me an extra £5 plus £15 shipping plus £10 import duties. That’s a whole nother board game for a deck of cards that should be in box. Poor. Shame I was really looking forward to this one.

This does have a solo mode, but it's not included in the base box. There is a deck of solo event cards for the game that you can buy separately.
There's actually an official solo variant add-on that you can get at Daily Magic Games' website for $6, so don't worry!

I live in Australia so I doubt the solo deck will be good value but we'll see...
