      He didn't come up with that out of the blue, way back in the mid 80s he and a bunch of other wrestlers put an album out. That was some of the lyrics from his song, that someone wrote for him. The song was "Speaking From the Heart". One source says he wrote it, but many others say it was written for him.

    I know this sound silly but this Randy quote helped me when I was with a crippling suicide depression last year, I stood up and fight back, now I feel like a macho man for surviving myself. RIP Randy, you saved a man who watched you when was a kid

      There's a corollary to that, though. Some fights need to be picked even if you know you can't win. Sometimes people need to be stood up to just to show that someone can stand up to them, that they aren't invincible. You might not win but you can make 'em bleed, and sometimes that's enough for the guy behind you.

      Yeah, you choose from radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgical removal, bone marrow transplants.....so many options nowadays to choose not to have cancer. Same with depression. For a Start I'd you're truly depressed, you should avoid social media and have real world human interaction, more vitamin D, healthier diet, exercise (that's a major one), speak to a therapist (free in most modern world countries with a diagnosis of depression), set strong routines starting small and working up, don't be afraid of failing that routine and starting again, change your circle, block your phone from delivering you news of any kind as it's all negative. Any combination of these steps will yield incredible results. Facts.

      It was not on the fly. These were very well rehearsed. Even today, talk show guests are given at least a bit of rehearsal time. That being said, it's still a great message, and I am pretty sure it was also a genuine one. But, it was definitely not "on the fly."

      @@inconnu4961 you guys had something to live FOR, the end of nuclear annihilation, todays generation have no future because previous generations don't care about it. No home ownership, no job security, no industry security (they are all going to AI in five years, and have been going to AI in five years for the last 40 years), the threat of global financial crash because the people who caused the last one were insulated from the consequences of it and so haven't learned anything, and even IF they survive all of that, there is going to be no pension/retirement for them because internationally we are having less kids, less sex, less alcohol (I don't know that those are all related but...yea) so there will be even fewer young working age people to care for the massive amount of pensioners with long term health conditions who can't work.
      That assuming Humanity survives the next 50 years of Climate Change disasters...
      (I'm not saying any of that is true or false (except for the less, kids, sex and alcohol thing) but that's what has been drilled into this generations heads for 20 years, many don't remember a time before everything was bleak...)

      Fortunately today we have heroes like The Young Bucks and Jungle Boy to carry on this legacy of great heroism, if anything far beyond it -- the Young Bucks regularly get more stars for their matches than Randy ever did. Randy's highest match was with Steamboat and that was 4 and a quarter. The Young Bucks have gotten 5, 6 and even 7 star rated matches.

      Refusing to let others see you emotions is one thing, if they haven't earned the right.
      Hiding your emotions from yourself is another thing entirely. It's weakness and being out of touch with reality.
      How can you face your fears if you won't admit you have them? Face your emotions head-on and learn to live as a "high functioning" emotional person if need be, but function.

      However, even then that would be more of an argument for the concepts of masculinity and femininity being inherently toxic, not an argument against any specific conception of masculinity or femininity.
      If you aren't a gender abolitionist, then you'd have to contend with the fact that femininity is also toxic because it is the product of masculine patriarchy asserting itself over women for thousands of years.
      TL;DR: Masculinity (and gender as a whole) can be thought of as inherently toxic, but that does not mean every expression of gender is itself toxic

    Got a fond memory of Macho Man, as well as Hollywood Hogan. Was about 7 or 8 at the time, and my grandfather took me to WrestleMania. We started to walk around and out of no where as if it was fate, my grandfather and I had Macho AND Hollywood walk up to us outside the arena building and they thanked my grandfather for his service in the army, got a picture of Macho Man holding me and Hollywood posing next to him. What baffled us even more was they got us in behind the announcers table by the rink. Both are such awesome dudes.

    God fucking damnit can we please just acknowledge men desperately need help without making it into a competition. I got a compliment from a girl and I didn’t know how to handle it and it genuinely made me tear up shortly after, I came clean to a friend and he swore he had been in the exact same situation after his boss complimented his integrity. Just two specific and intentional compliments made two grown bois cry, I fucking know there are others of us bois out here who feel like the macho man is speaking directly to us. Life’s hard, but you’re a macho man if you can get back up in the end, he’s my hero.

      I felt the same way, and still do, whenever my boss and supervisor compliment my ethic/work hustle. I'm used to trying my best, so to hear it from them, it really means the world to me, and it's really hard to deal with sometimes. I would never throw those thanks back, never, but the rarity makes it so much more meaningful and it writes itself into my memories. It's nice. And I think if we all complimented each other on one nice thing, just one, each day, the world would be so much better for it.

    I’m dealing with trying to taper off of alcoholism safely. Little by little, I’m tapering down. Yesterday I was at rock bottom and scared to death. This video just happened to pop up.     Growing up as a kid.. it was Hogan, Warrior and Macho Man for me. But as I got older and heard more and more stories and shoot interviews… Macho Man is firmly my number one. RIP Randy. You are sorely missed.

    A lot of professional wrestlers' improvisational skills are very underrated. One thinks that since everything is scripted, they just go thru the motions but rarely do things go as planned all the time. It doesn't surprise me at all to see clips like these where they say the coolest off-the-cuff things on the fly. Ric Flair was the master at saying funny things spontaneously during his promos.

    Randy is literally speaking from personal experience. He wanted a career in professional baseball that didn't go into his favor, and eventually found himself trying out for wrestling and having massive success in that. Great words of advice!

    I have to say, I never warmed up to the whole Wrestling thing, I find it too silly... but this video has changed my outlook on it.

    This is why Macho Man will always be my favorite of the Golden Era. He could be over the top but also very much down to earth with the things he'd say.     I was an old school pro wrestling fan and guys like Savage Piper Flair and Hogan were legends who truly brought wrestling to the pinnacle of entertainment. Guys like them were real men who brought more than just their physical prowess to the art. They were the best.
