Reason 1: Water pressure: If the washer has inadequate water pressure, the water inlet valve may not be closing completely, causing the washer to overfill. Check the water pressure using the instructions in the video.
Hit that Subscribe button now and make sure the Notifications are ON.
Reason #2: Water Inlet Valve: The water inlet valve controls the hot and cold water coming into the washer tub. If the washer doesn’t stop filling, it could be that this valve is stuck open.
Reason #3: Water Level Switch: The water level switch controls the amount of water going into the washer. If the washer doesn’t stop filling, the contacts that send power to the water inlet valve may have fused together or there may be additional issues. Consult the video for troubleshooting steps.
Reason #4: Water Level Switch Pressure Hose: The water level switch pressure hose uses air pressure to tell the washer when the tub is full. If the hose is damaged or clogged, it may be causing your washer to not stop filling.
Reason #5: Main Control Board: The main control board is responsible for the functions of the washer after you make your selections. If your washer is overfilling, the control panel may have failed and need to be fixed or replaced.

I believe that this is the best explanatory guidelines and easiest I have have ever read. Thank you for your helpful explanations and taken the time to do this.
Great Video ... we are new construction ... sediment is high and we had a low pressure situation due to the inlet screen where the hose attaches being very clogged ... we cleared it .... perfect operation. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the info! My home is older, but sometimes there’s a break in the community water pipes that allows sediment to get in and send dirty water beyond those break.
I’m glad it was a reasonably inexpensive fix.
You're a washing machine wizard !! God love ya !!The Lord guided me your channel. Thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You made it easy, a mouse had a snack of the pressure hose. All good in the laundry room after mopping up 45 gallons from the washer continuously running water. The concrete hasn't looked that clean in 20 years!
Hahaha! I felt the same way earlier today. When I noticed my washer overflowing onto the floor, I immediately turned it off and started “mopping” it up with the dirty towels that were on the floor waiting their turn, haha. When I saw all the yucky stuff I was wiping up with the towels, after I got over being grossed out, I had to smile because now I had a reasonably clean floor, hahaha. I also thanked God that I was standing right there when it started overflowing! Otherwise it could have created a huge mess and probably caused a lot of water damage, or worse, mold.
Now I just need to figure out which of the 5 potential failure points it is. But learning new stuff is good for our brains so it’s all good. My glass is full, and so is my washer right now, hahaha.
Solved my problem. It was the cold water side of the intake valve. Could not have solved this without this video. Thank you.
JUST FIXED MY WASHER!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!! The hose was popped off the pressure switch, so when I went to cheek it, i put it back on!
That’s awesome! I hope that’s my washer’s problem too. 😊
Look at those hose pliers! 😍
Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing! Time for a store run, hahaha.
Great video. Showed me exactly where the water level sensor was. Found that the hose has come off at the sensor. Nice easy fix with your help. Thanks
Thanks, good stuff, this is only the second time this ever happened in around 6 years.
Got in the shower and she washed a load while I was in there, it didn't even click until I seen your #1 Problem... lesson for the day, unless you have great water pressure, don't take a shower and wash clothes at the same time.
Was an older washer, at least 15 yrs old, but again, it's been years since the last time it happened.
Glad we were able to assist you!
Wow! Thank you SO much for sharing this info! I would not have imagined that could happen! My washer is ~23 years old. Plus I’m at the end of the community water lines so if there’s an issue with water pressure upstream, I’ll definitely get the brunt of it.
Now I know if the washer’s running, stay out of the shower, stay awake, and stay home. I knew to never leave the house or go to sleep if the dryer’s running due to potential fire hazards. Geez. Who knew convenient appliances could be so dangerous?
Thank you for this video! I have feeling my water level selector is bad, so I will start there first, but thanks for the other scenarios to check!
Ok, Excellent info, I can check everything. I'm hoping it's the low water pressure situation.
Awesome video! Very helpful
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO!
SAVED ME UNTOLD FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES,AND TROUBLE!!
very helpful... and well presented.
Water inlet valve is busted, it drained even when the washer was unplugged. Thank you so much!
😳Oh my! That’s scary! I hope your shut off valve was easily accessible.
Thanks a bunch for this video!!!! My mom was doing laundry and all i heard was a bunch of "eeks, omg's and what's going on with this thing" from her before I discovered the washer wasn't responding to anything she was doing it and had she not shut the water off on the valves it would've overflowed. (Ik she said she hit pause at some point but that didn't work and it kept filling but the weird thing was that the rest of the lights went out that are normally on like the load size and the water temperature light selection wasn't lit up - this was prior to her shutting off the valves)
Im going to watch this video again and see if I can figure out what the dealio is. Thanks again! 😀 7:21
You're welcome!
bingo ! low water pressure, i did'nt have the valve all the way open......... i did'nt know that would matter.........but it does ! thank you ! wb
Thanks. Mime was problem #4. My pressure hose got disconnected
You are very welcome. Glad you were able to fix your washer!
Great video helped a lot !
They are super videos
Where did you get that pliers tool?
Thank you! Your video was very helpful.
Be sure to check the silicone hose attached to the rear middle of the control board on the Maytag Bravo x. If it comes undone, the water will continue to fill and not switch to wash.
Should water be in the air bulb or up into the pressure hose partially ?
What is the model number number of your washer?

A reading of 0.00 during a meter test shows continuity with no resistance.
A reading of 0.L means over limit, infinite resistance, that means no continuity or not connected.
A numbered reading greater than zero is a measure of resistance including the test leads, their connection to the right place for the test, and the resistance of the part that has continuity In this example.
Have fun.
Don't call for a special service call just yet if visual inspection shows disconnect or damaged pressure line.
or a blockage exists.
Clear it by blowing thru it? Could be.
Thank you for the explanation of what the multimeter readings mean in continuity mode. I’m still learning how to use one. 😃
@@moonmagnolia7 they take some thought and practice, and some meters are difficult to read settings for. I didn't get good instructions with some of mine. My fluke meter came with its own book.
Shows you what you get for your money.
I had a repair once, I needed. Their tech sent me a brand new one, with new leads.
A $500 tool.
Here you go!
Wow.
Speed queen top loader makes a loud bang .I replaced the agitation pulley, belt, helix, all genuine parts.the problem of failure to spin continues.should it to do with the transmission system ?
I just bought a new whirlpool washing machine (Lowes). It fills up with water (in sensing mode), then stops and you can hear dripping, then starts filling back up again. It gets stuck doing this for hours (of course I turn it off before hours). This is the 2nd machine as the first was stuck in sensing mode as well. Is this normal? any ideas?
I have a Maytag top loader with a clean washer cycle when I use that it doesn't cycle through the water just keeps pouring into the machine why is my clean washer cycle not working? every other cycle works fine, thanks
What is the model number of your washer?
My Toshiba washing machine doesn't follow due process, while filling water, it blinks the washing light and that affects how it washed thereafter
1:18 well how would I know? would I keep hearing water? You didnt explain how I would know it was still open.
Sometimes you just need to unplug the water supply, put it back in, and then turn the water on before the machine.
..what about if you have an circuit board chip that the air hose attaches to?
What is your model number? What is going on with your washer?
MATAG MVWB850YW1,..just keeps filling until we Cancel.
No error codes. How free should the tub be? I just changed the bearings and driveshaft and seal too.
So if you blow in and it clicks then suck in and it clicks it's good right.
You would still have to use a multimeter to test the pressure switch to see if it is bad.
All of this was excellent. However, the problem with the machine on my 2nd floor that created a catastrophe was not mentioned. The Water Level Control wasn't clicked in on the chosen level .. it was just "off" to the right. The machine didn't know to stop .. and it didn't. THOUSANDS of dollars in damage to the apartment below. Unfortunate - and something to be aware of and watch out for when in a hurry. BE SURE IT CLICKS IN TO YOUR CHOICE OF WATER LEVEL... nearby the choice is a disaster waiting to happen. Figured it out and it's filling and draining and spinning a wash this very evening. Trusty Kenmore and a user error.
Thanks for the tip! Glad you were able to get the issue fixed!
be careful, I've had flooding several times because even when changing between settings, it doesn't make good contact.
But I have another problem - after it fills and stops, when it moves to the next cycle it will try to fill again, so sometimes it just completely ignores the level. The only way to stop it is to manually advance the program knob until it gets to a spin or drain cycle
Oh my gosh! How awful! I’m glad I have an old, very basic machine.
My tub sometimes fill up while off. Problem water is shut off when I don't use it...First time it did that, the city main water was off, nobody could get any water at all but my machine filled up completely so I really don't understand how it does that...
😳 That’s scary!
My ge washer that doesn't have a digital display continues to fill with cold water through all cycles even when the washer is shut off.
It sounds as if you could be having an issue with your water valve. What is your model number and we can look into this for you.
What is that tool called at 6:20?
Just look up washer hose pliers
The washer has no water in it. But it is still running and won't shut off.
What is your model number?
😊
Won't file up.
What is the model number of your washer? Have you had any error codes at all? Are you sure there is power coming to the machine?
Water can come from the sink
