Kudos to Gene for giving credit where credit is due... Eddie and Dave together brought rock entertainment to another level. Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin were great but the ultimate rock band crystallized with Van Halen and there will be no one that will ever surpass it!
Van Halen with Roth was simply unrivaled and the craftsmenship and energy was like a sound freightrain coming at you at the concert and thru your house when you were playing it at home and except for, in my opinion, the synthesized Hagar stuff in the late 80s, all still holds up to this day. Its like wine, doesnt age poorly, it gets better.
Awesome Jeremy! Gene was a big step in the world getting Van Halen! Thank you Gene! I love the original "House of Pain" which runs into "Runnin with the Devil" on a later demo.
Great to hear Gene felt the same way as I do about that original "House of Pain" demo being a locomotive that doesn't stop. First heard a lousy-quality tape of it in the early 80s, & even then, I couldn't figure out why they never included it on VH1 or VH2. Powerful performance. Gene did a great job capturing that one.
Never heard of you literally 10 minutes ago, watched you working out the EVH 90's sound, now this - I subscribed on UA-cam and Twitter, and hey presto, you have a new fan and follower.
You’ve got yourself a cool show here Jeremy 🤘 I’m assuming your Canadian by the way you talk & carry yourself because i’m a Canuck myself & was born & raised in a small town in St.Marys,Ontario,Canada which is in between London,Ontario & Stratford,Ontario & only about an hour & a half from Toronto. Then this small town kid moved to the big rocking armpit of Windsor,Ontario which is right across from “Detroit Rock City” in October of 1997 right around the time “KISS” was doing there reunion with the original members & my apartment in Windsor was pretty much beside the “Ambassador Bridge” & i forget what month it was but “KISS” played the old tiger stadium & wow where my apartment was i could honestly see the lights from tiger stadium all lit 🔥 up & the music clear as a bell being right across the river from tiger stadium & the wind was perfect that evening & being a 19/20yr old kid & had been playing bass for about 5yrs by then & Gene Simmons was on my bedroom wall. Anyways keep up the great work Jeremy 😃
There is something oddly appealing about Gene Simmons. Sure, he's a non-stop self-promoter, but I respect his business savvy and willingness to always promote and sell. The guy's got more money than he knows what to do with, but his instincts are what they are, and his work ethic, considering his age, is remarkable.
King EDDY was truly generational, inspired more long haired freaks to pick up a guitar than anyone else. A lot of people say Hendrix, I don't think it's close, Eddy's catalog is epic
Not a fan of these ridiculous cold zoom like Interviews.. But hey its GENE SIMMON$ and he loves to talk.. Always admired gene for his BRANDING since the beginning and Rats why KISS will always live on ! 😎🤟
Gene is goofy if he thinks the House of Pain demo makes the 1984 version sound tame. They are both great in their own right, but the 84 version is thunderous
Thanks for posting! If you have a minute, we recorded a cover of Van Halen. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you'd take a listen. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)
I baught me a nuce paur of sunglasses only had a chancs to where them at night it was the only free tine i had i was walkibg down the street being or trying to be cool the theres themies venders that sell electronics to tge military guy's rip offs si this guy says to me you think your cool wearing sun glasses at night i told him when your cool the sun shines all the time so i continued wearing my sun glasses at night...RocknRollflat5
How the hell did Gene Simmons force Ace Frehley to do anything . He has no control over Ace. Gene Simmons tries to make people think that he is a big shot ,but he is not. I'm pretty he hasn't forced Ace to do anything. Gene just needs to go away!!!!
I love it when Gene steps out of the "character" for a bit and just casually talks about music and stuff. I'd listen to him all day long.
Excellent point!! The real person is almost always more interesting then the stage persona they are trying to satisfy!!

That was true, 1978-81. They went wimpy from about 1982 onward. But those first two albums are untouchable!

@@JeremyWhiteShow Where is the cool background music from here?
@@MrPyroguru it’s an original I recorded as the theme for season one of the podcast! Now retired… RIP 🤘🏻😂
Gotta love Gene. He sometimes dispenses some great stories/info.

The first Band I ever saw live was KISS - 1988 Belfast Kings Hall The Crazy Nights Tour..... Awesome show. Great 👍 interview man 👊
I just left a comment on another thread , it simply said " Edward " . ..I reckon it was the right thing to do now .. rip EVH
Where is the ending music from there?
Sounds like Def Leppard.
Awesome podcast Jeremy…..

Imagine in a alternate universe where after the demos Ed and Alex dumped Dave and Michael and joined KISS.
That would be the worst universe that has ever existed.
Big mistake !
awesome just awesome........
So, recording a band demo amounts to descovering?
Merry Christmas daddy
If music of any sort gets a bad name, we know who to blame for it.
Gene is goofy if he thinks the House of Pain demo makes the 1984 version sound tame. They are both great in their own right, but the 84 version is thunderous
Gene calling him Edward is great
"Eddie" was a media creation. He went by Edward or Ed prior to the media calling him Eddie.
Madness. The House of Pain demo is a mess. The released version is superior in every conceivable way.
Haha I agree... 🤷🏼♀️

I just listened to Sixteen Christine and there is no lead guitar solo at all.
It was once said that Gene being so self absorbed with himself, actually wanted VH to be renamed "Gene's $emen" but the brothers refused to swallow it
hahahha
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

In 1976-77, Gene was Ace's alpha. Somebody had to be. Ace hasn't done well without an alpha to tell him what to do.
Begs the question: Why do you spend your time watching videos featuring Gene if you feel that way about him?
Jesus christ, fragile x
The voices are out of sync.
I cant be the only one that is supremely tired of gene simmons and the same stupid lines and crap he says over and over and over
Gene Simmons is a VERY poor musician..master marketer.
Randy Rhodes was doing it at the same time as Eddie and waaaay better and more talented
Rhoads was great, but he was not Edward Van Halen.
Rhodes was in the minor leagues compared to EVH....Fact..
