Just purchased with ground moisture(flower beds)/lightening sensors. Looking for the air partical sensor want an accurate one. Already have my flag pole bracket and PVC ready and waiting. Gonna be a nice addition here in Texas,tornades/floods/lightening etc, like the push notifications from sensors to app on phone and PC. Will cover rain gauge with mesh to keep stuff out, have spike too.
We would love to help in any way possible. If you have any specific questions about where to place it on your property and which mounting system to use please contact us at 480) 346-3380 or support@AmbientWeather.com. Thanks for the suggestion we will work on creating the type of videos you mentioned.
I’d like to set up the unit on my roof to capture wind speed. I would like if the rain gauge was a separate unit so I can keep it off the roof to clean out falling leaves.
How has it held up as of today and do nearby trees affect the accuracy of wind speed? Everything says to be 2x hight of nearest tree. Mounting on a 80 foot pole is not possible Highest nearby point is the house which the entire property and lot is actually the highest elevation point in the neighborhood. Most other houses and even trees in the neighborhood sit at a lower elevation and the chimney in the center of the roof which is actually even with the tree tops in my yard Its possible to mount a 8-10 foot pole on the chimney making it taller than the trees and 30’ AGL then don’t know how much the roof impacts the wind speed accuracy and temperature not to mention we are in the lighting capital of the WORLD literally. Any recommendations please. Thank you in advance
I couldn't get the holes on the support arm for the ultrasonic sensor to align perfectly but I did manage to get them to go in although I wasn't happy about having to essentially force the bolts into place. And I couldn't install the rain gauge as shown since I side mounted to a Rohn-25 tower.
I had the same problem with the holes on the support arm not aligning correctly. I eventually had to take it out to my bench sander to remove a bit of metal material from both ends of the arm. For the price of this unit, you would think they could do better quality control for the build of their product.
I'm looking to buy one of these. I'll be installing it on my window wall from out and apt for the sensor can it mount horizontally or vertically I'll be moving it for the best position. This looks like what I need. Moon phase and weather with real feel and wind speed all in one.
No solar powered sensors? No battery backup for the indoor display? (so during a power outage and storm there's no data). Separate sensor for indoor temp etc? All fails.
I'm going back and forth between the WS 2092C, WS 2000, and the WS 5000. My goals are for accurate temperature and rain measurement due to connecting it to my sprinkler controller. Is the rain gauge more accurate than the WS 2092C and the WS 2000?
My Ws-5000 rain measurements were about 2x too low out of the box - calibration adjustments are required. one rain event I had about 8mm measured by two other devices - WS-5000 measured 2mm
Why not rechargeable batteries charged by the solar array?? We are expected to get on our rooftop to replace AA batteries? How bout USB recharging for the Remote Sensor and Tablet (instead of disposable batteries and the wall wart power supply)? There's no iPad App to replace the Tablet?? Seems like your Product Manager punted on this unit. At this price point seems like the above features are basic. TOO MANY ENVIRONMENTALLY DAMAGING DISPOSABLE BATTERIES!!!
@@AmbientWeatherChannel I was interested is ordering one and signed up via email for notification when it became available again but not at the new price. When and if the price comes back down you have a sale. If not I’ll look elsewhere. Thank you for the quick reply
I bought an Ambient Weather WS-2902C a few weeks ago and my temperature is often 1 to 3 degrees warmer then my neighbors Ambient Weather WS-2902C that lives right across the street from me. I noticed also when the wind is light the temperature goes up about 1 to 2 degrees and when the wind picks up again the temperature goes down. Is my sensor defective??
Great weather station. Too bad it won't connect to the internet using SpaceX's Starlink, or 5G. This is a huge disappointment, as I just switched to Starlink and lost the internet connection with the weather station. Tech support didn't even know what Starlink was, so don't expect any improvement in this regard anytime soon.
It doesn't seem like there is any good way to mount the rain sensor and the ultrasonic sensor to the same pole. Both need to be on the top of the pole. The seems like somewhat of an engineering oversight. If you mount the ultrasonic sensor to the same pole under the rain sensor, the rain sensor will block the wind.
@@socomon69 I don’t understand what you mean. I have a WS5000. The rain gauge has to go on top of the pole, but the ultrasonic sensor can be slid up or down the pole to any location. If they are on opposite sides of the pole they don’t interfere with each other.
i seriously adore my weather station 4880 , and just got the 5000 now
I like the Ambient Weather being engraved on to the station now

Just got mine ..! Thank You
Wish there was more info detail videos on key installation locations on video / examples

Can you power the display via USB?

Do I need to have tablet connected to recieve data? Or can I acces via app?
I bought a WS-2902C a few months ago. Is the temperature more accurate on the WS-5000 then the WS-2902C??
No it would not be as they use a similar sensor the major difference is the transmission distance of the WS-5000 array is much further.

The WS-5000 does have a larger rain cup which allows for a more accurate depiction of rainfall.

The WS5000 has solar charging so that would imply using rechargable batteries
Why did you recently increase the price by over 60 dollars for the Ws-5000 ?
The WS-5000 retail increased due to the parts we make the station with increasing in cost.

No that is normal it happens to me to.
Consistent airflow is everything when in direct sun. Even a more expensive Davis VP2 with radiation fan can spike or just consistently read too warm

5g range sucks. Is faster but is shorter range
That will cost a shit tons of batteries !!!
Don't you have weather station that run on plug-in power ?!?
Are you using lithium batteries ? They have them in disposable and recharge

Mount them 180 degrees to each other on the pole. Not one over the other.
@@headdown1 the point was that can't be done on a single pole without adding some kind of horizontal arm.
