Also, if you enjoyed the Big Tree, look into the Gennett Poplar in north Georgia. It is the second largest tree in the state of Georgia. It’s right beside Bear Creek. My boy and I made a video camping beside it. It’s massive. Worth the trip 💯👍

Great video!! I'm going to try it this weekend. I've looked on alltrails, it says 12.6 miles but no one can seem to agree on that. Were you able to track the actual distance? Also that " the ledges of big tree camp site" would a 3p tent fit up there?

My recording came out to 15.5 miles. But your mileage may vary depending on if you go down to see the Big Tree or not and if you wander into any of the small side canyons. The Ledges at Big Tree is tight for a 3 person tent, but if you are willing to not have a fire, or move the fire over a bit from where the established fire ring is, then you should be able to get into it. There are backup sites down the Bee Branch canyon a bit (0.8 mile) or on the plateau above (0.4 miles above Bee Branch Falls). You can see those on my maps: www.dropbox.com/sh/3r6p4xvfqrx441o/AAASTYEbrWm6L9bsJqPSOTMha?dl=0

Hey Joe, I just recently found your channel and am really enjoying the videos. I picked up on your comment here about liking to hike with friends. I live in the Nashville area and hike quite a bit on the Cumberland Plateau and in North Alabama. I would be very interested in joining you on occasion. If you are open to this, please reply and we can figure out how to make it happen.
