Been a wile. The last time I walked that trail we drove down to the bridge and parked, the School Bus too. I'm disabled now and could never make it to the bridge,'' let alone'', Fat Mans Squeeze. lol.
Well, I don't know about "completely wilderness", but it is as close as it gets here. For only having to hike in about 2 miles (3.5 km), it does feel removed from the world of men. Thanks for watching!
You know, in my couple dozen times going through there, I've never seen a snake. I've seen plenty throughout the Sipsey and I'm sure they are around, but haven't run into one there yet! Certainly copperheads are common throughout Alabama, so keep your eyes open and always look before you step! 👍
Im planning on this trail for my kids (8m,11f) first backpacking/camping experience. I am a little worried about snakes since they are very unexperienced. Think this would still be a good place, or should I looks elsewhere?
This is an awesome place to introduce young ones to the wilderness!! It is beautiful and feels wild and is actually relatively close to civilization if needed. It’s Alabama, so snakes are always possible anywhere in the region. Encountering them is rare and being in any sort of danger much rarer yet. So don’t let irrational fear dissuade you from going. Just keep your eyes open and have a great time! Make sure you spend time just letting the young ones explore-poking around the rocks, trees, and water edges. They will never forget it.
I know they are around, I grew up in the woods of North Florida, Im not sure why I got so worried about for about 4 hours today. I now live about an hourish from Sipsey Wilderness, maybe one day I will bump i to you! Love the channel!
Don’t worry about it. It’s an awesome trail. The Fat Man’s Squeeze is a crowd pleaser and the area beyond it REALLY feels like wilderness. It’s a special place. Several places to camp-all pretty good.
Actually it was a Saturday night/Sunday morning trip. We did meet people, I just didn't record them. Also, the camping site I was originally headed to was already taken, so we went with my plan B. Luckily, in Sipsey, there are many, many, plan B's.
@@aslmx1918 There is generally no service there. But I use AllTrails with downloaded maps. I also download the maps for Google Maps for navigating the roads in the area.
I love it out there so peaceful
It is indeed! Thanks for watching! 👍
Love that place! 💙
Absolutely! Obviously one of my favorites. Thanks for watching! 👍
Sometimes these are my favorite trips! Relaxing! Looks like a blast and a beautiful choice for the first timers!
I agree! It was wonderful to not be pushing so hard.

A school bus at the bridge! That sounds pretty tight. Glad I could take you along. 👍
Wow, wonderful place on earth!
Completly wilderness!

I'm pretty new to sipsey, only about 2 months. I have a lot to trail left to explore. Your videos are a good watch!
Glad you like them! I have a lot of trail left to explore too!
Cool!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
Enjoying your videos. Planning a trip to Huntsville and Sipsey Wilderness area mid May.
That's awesome. Hope you have a great trip!
No snakes in the cave? I saw a copperhead snake in a rock crevasse the last time I was at Sipsey.

If you do run into me say Hello! It’s always special to get to actually talk with my viewers. I do get recognized out there every now and then.
Can you do a hiking video on Keel mountain preserve trail?
I already have! You can find that here: ua-cam.com/video/DS-DJk1fjiU/v-deo.html
@@SoutheasternFrontiers nice video! I’m gonna be doing that trail soon!
Awesome! Let me know how it goes.
Looks like no one was there. Was this like on a Tuesday?

@@SoutheasternFrontiers thanks. We might do a day hike to check it out and then do an overnighter. I’m in Cullman not far from there.
A day hike first to check it out is highly recommend. It’s a beautiful place. 👍
Sounds great. Do you have service there to use all trails?

Bunyan hill made me love backpacking, but sipsey wild hiking trail made me hate it.
Those old roads can be a bit of a drag, but get you from place to place quickly. 👍
The worst part is on the way out coming back up to the trailhead is a half mile steep climb
Yeah. That last 0.5 miles is all uphill. 🥵
