    This is just brilliant. Never though of using a tool box for tackle. Much cheaper than a yakattack black pack. 👍🏼

      Thanks. I had a light bulb moment after watching Greg Blanchard.

    Best DIY crate I've seen. I'm not into the milk crate style boxes.

    This is great! You can put soft baits in pencil packets and keep in a zipped notebook. Fishin-N-Stuff hack. Enjoy your videos.

      Thanks and yes. Lots of way to store soft plastics.

    That is exactly the kind of crate I’ve wanted to build since I got my 1st kayak. Great video! Thanks for the inspiration.

      Absolutely Terry! I take it everywhere. Just jumped in my buddys boat today, took it and had all my tackle and could power cameras. It’s versatile and keeps me so organized on my kayak. 👍🏼 Full parts list is posted if you decide to build.

    Combining a power box into the tackle crate is brilliant! Well done 👍. Definitely subbing and sharing this one!

      Thanks. If I get enough comments on this and asking more I might do a full breakdown “how to” video on this. I will say after using it a few times. It’s amazing.

    looking good, Thanks for sharing! I'm struggling with carrying too much stuff and trying to keep it simple but never thought the crate could be just the place to get everything I need to travel with me, and then move it to the right position I need it in the kayak. Again, thanks for a great idea.

      It’s cut down in time at the ramp and ensures I have what I need all in one. Great upgrade for sure. Thanks for watching. 👊🏼

    Love the ultimate tackle crate! Can you share a wiring diagram? Did you use a inline fuse. Eager to get started. Thanks!

    • @thereelridder
      @thereelridder  Рік тому +1

      I didn’t use an inline in the internal wiring to save space and it’s not enough draw imo to need it. The cord to the Garmin I do have an inline fuse however.

    I was considering one of these, but with 6 built in rod holders and 4 rails to add more, it makes more sense for me to just get a tote with a gasket seal and run that for food and camping storage. I can put all of my clothes, hammock, rain fly, and tarp in the front hatch of my kayak. I just use a single flat tackle box under my seat for tackle. No need to take everything. Just what i know works on the river. For power i dont really need it. I just bring a couple 38,000 mAh power packs woth solar panels and thats enough to keep my phone charged for 7 days.

      Thanks. I put a lot of thought into it. After using my build this past year I love it. Works in my kayak and allows me to take gear etc into friends boats as a coangler as well.

    With the rod holders you could set up a rod on each side with dipsy divers to troll on Lake Michigan. You would have to pedal like a maniac though!!! LOL 😂😂👍👍

      You’d be surprised. I know a lot of people that do that. Infact one guy I know last year won Salmon-A-Rama in Racine and cashed $25k he was in kayak!

    The perfect storage box if you don't want a bunch of stupid wires running all over the kayak with new holes needing drilled.. what an eyesore.... this is the perfect solution... thanks

    • @thereelridder
      @thereelridder  Рік тому

      Thank you. That’s exactly why I designed this. I wanted to be able to take everything off my kayak. I have even found other ways to use this on other boats.

    This is pretty genius.
    How did you install the plugs and the 4 in 1? Just cut a hole in the tool box?

    • @thereelridder
      @thereelridder  2 роки тому

      Yes. Hole saw. Mark the holes. Drill them out and then install.

    The Googan Squad money bags are great for storing the soft plastics.

    How are you securing the crate to the kayak?

    • @thereelridder
      @thereelridder  2 роки тому +1

      I have bungees in my tank well that go over and around the rod holders on the side and keep it held down securely. I thought about attaching loops on the corners like an h crate or black pack but didn’t want to drill more places until I was 100% settles with the organization within the crate.

    • @leebarto2161
      @leebarto2161 2 роки тому +2

      @@thereelridder thanks I have a lightning and was wondering if you just used the stock bungees or something else. Cool.

    • @thereelridder
      @thereelridder  2 роки тому +1

      If I add something I’ll be sure to include it in and update down the way. But for now the stock bungees hold it good. I also should have included I put some spacers below it so it fits side to side.

    For your soft plastics, use a binder.

    • @thereelridder
      @thereelridder  2 роки тому

      Hey, thanks for the idea. I do have a small one of those I do keep in my box. But a larger one is a great idea. The only problem is a lot of my plastics are in trays (XZone) I’ll try something out. 👍🏼
