My friend and I both have Old Town Predator MK 13 ft motor version and we took out kayaks to the YMCA to tried to flip and re-enter. Let me tell you it is much more difficult than you think. If you are over weight, don’t have a great deal of upper body strength, or bogged down with heavy wet clothes you are going to have next to impossible time of getting back on. I have been kayaking for many years and didn’t take it to serious until I tried it myself. Never go without a buddy along, in cold weather have a dry bag with warm dry clothes and some emergency medical and survival things with you, and always share with someone your plan of where you will be and when you will return so if you don’t show up they know where to come looking. Aliex makes it look easy and he has a great deal of experience.. Know what to expect before the unexpected happens to you or your friend.
it is still hard, the camera makes it look easy haha, but there are techniques you can use, a rope system to flip it over easy, I always say practice flipping and recovery with a friend in a safe place you never know when stuff gonna happen better be ready
yup, i think people that fish in cold waters that have to use gloves, should really really practice flipping kayaks, the sandals and the gloves played a factor, sometimes the pdf is even an issue when flipping big kayaks
Good job giving us entertainment and a more realistic like flipping/stability test. Wish there were more, realistic stability test videos on UA-cam. 👍✌️
i wanna flip one 300ft deep, but im gonna need help probably a boat, the traffic offshore is bad and it is very dangerous. Will see how this video does
@@ReelEmN Darryl, I don't understand the point of what you are saying? I said I never would have thought about it and be apprehensive to use it. It has nothing to do with the warranty. It has to do with the handle on the other side most people would try to reach for the flip. Sometimes, people are just having a conversation, not looking for "actually" or "friend/pal/buddy/guy/kid" replies.
You need a paddle leash. Here is why. Two options. 1. You bring the leash over the bottom, put your feet on the yak and PULL it over. Or #2, bring the leash over the bottom, put your leash between your feet and do a standing motion to ROLL the kayak over. You are right. Don’t panic and have a plan. Everyone needs to practice self rescue. I used the leash to save my life. I went over a rapid and the water coming over the rock was holding me down. I pulled the yak to me with the leash and the buoyancy pulled me free.
Planning on getting my first yak and thinking about a tandem for when my wife or brother decides to go fishing with me. Defi going for a pedal drive. Been thinking of a vanhunks sauger but would appreciate some suggestions. Looking for something around 1.5k or so xD
thats the idea of the strings you see in the handle but i forgot about it lol, also forgot to say how to get back lol this video was filmed at 11 am after being on the water since 4:18 am lol i was tired lol
Hello senior, your videos are really great. It has a very good warning and educational value for anglers. Can I use some of your clips to make a video? Hope to get your agreement!❤
Aliex love your videos very informative keep them coming. Looking to get the Pelican Gateway. Could you please let me know what is the weight of the pelican HD2 drive by itself, the seat on the gateway and finally the boat without the drive and the seat installed. I would love that very much since no info on this specs are out there. Thanks
Use the audio from your chest cam next time by separating the audio from video, then cut and paste to the other camera's audio track. Voila, loud & clear!
I submerge my DJI Osmo Action cams to get underwater release shots all the time and have no audio problems whatsoever after I do so. If your cams aren't designed for underwater, you might consider one that is. The intent of my suggestion was to educate on how to get better audio, when editing using two cams, without using external mics. @@AliexFolgueira
fishing offshore still gives me the creeps, i have to do it more times so i get over it haha, even though it was close to the beach i was still with that strange feeling lol
Very nice videos. Thanks for it·😉👌 I use my kayak in Barcelona Mediterranean Sea and I have a question that I can't find the answer to. If I flip my kayak with the lifepo4 100ah battery for my 32lbs trolling motor and the battery gets sinked until I could flip over again the kayak, what will happen? My battery box it's a normal boat battery box and it's just splash proof for what of I flip the kayak the battery will be fully sinked in salt water in seconds... 😅 I was thinking to put a Midi fuse at the positive terminal and just seal it all with silkaflex. Like this the fuse will burn and stop the current, but I don't know if it's needed or no. Thanks again 😎
I hope I never find myself in this situation, offshore in a kayak and flipped over (especially in DEEPER WATER). This would have been a far better demonstration if you would have left ALL of your gear on your kayak. Getting back into a kayak is one thing but retrieving your gear, even if it is floating is an entirely different situation. Makes me think what else I need to tether to my yak.
If you tether your rods and reel it is easy to retrieve them, I'm not gonna let my reels get wet for not reason! I left the cooler full of drinks and ice and the heavy 25# bixpy battery, that's about what a person would carry
Only if you don't know how to position yourself with the kayak to face the right angle of the wave (face it head on) Also, why were you leaning to one side purposely to flip the kayak?
Wow really...? Flip it and unflip it ... So, its like, you jump and than unjump it right bro? Or even when you flip it you hit the water right? Now try to unhit the water when unflip it...

He brought the chancla just in case a fish got out of hand.
do you guys have a video how to position the kayak for incoming waves?
Man that looked fun. At least in that water if anything sunk you could swim down and grab it. Here in Acworth Ga the waters have about 2ft visibility.
flipping yaks is fun forsho

That's good to know about the gloves making things a little harder to grip. Thanks for sharing Aliex. Stay safe out threre.

dude, been a while ... good to see you still having fun ...... take care of yourself
That's it! I'll make more fun projects! Gonna turn my Ap into a skiff lol
thanks for getting wet for us!
Agreed everyone on a kayak should do that!
Yup 😁

@@AliexFolgueira Whatever it needs to be safe that would be awesome.🤟
Never would have thought to use the PDL drive. I would have actually tried to have avoided that. Good share.
if the drive is strong enough to go 6mph it is strong enough to hold while you flip it back
@@AliexFolgueira Oh I am sure. i just wouldn't have thought or wanted to do it. You gain my confidence that it a useful tool.
5 year warranty on it. It can be replaced, but your life can’t my friend

It's not the drive that isn't strong enough but rather the plastic clips that secure it...👍@@AliexFolgueira
Thanks for the lessons.
Thank you 😊

When I said, you have meant people without a drive that they could just use to pull the boat over.

thats a small tandem that would be easy to use solo, just make sure you buy it with at least one fin drive :)
Add a long strap to one of the mid handles. It will make it easier to flip the kayak using your legs instead of trying to grip across!
yup check my latest video, i did that
Me... Make kayak flipping fun again. Aliex, hold my flip flops.
I love his mates honesty, I'd rather fish !
ever use a flip strap? Much easier recovery with one.

I'm testing how estable it is and how to recover
The chancletas 😂😂
hahaha brooo they didnt let me swin so weird
Great video .
Glad you enjoyed it
Oooh 😯 impressive
you had two pairs of gloves this whole time!
My question is why did your mate bring enough tackle to keep a moderately large African tribe fishing for the next 10years
hahah good question lol, simple answer, he used to guide people fishing, so I guess he had it setup like that that day
Get your mate to flip his kayak with all that gear on. I know half of it is your gear but someone will have this much stuff for themselves.
I use a rescue ladder
Nice video, but you need to go get some tunas
Did that that day
Where was the "unexpected" and the "why"? This is standard procedure.
Asked the AI, it titled the video
I will build self righting kayak or canoe
that would be amazing!
👍❤️
Sometimes I wonder about you bro 🥴😆
haha
Saludo tu mismo virandolo .

Nelson!!! Wait for the fishing adventure video of this trip 😀 epic
