Thanks Doc for asserting the truth for many of us humans; recovering from AS arthritis and CPTS Response eating a Carnivore strict diet while growing younger and vibrantly well at 71. No pains, joints fully flexible again & all is so so happy within!
People talk about their knees as they hit 30. Its not normal to feel old at 30
I can't eat apples and just recently pickles. I loved pickles! RIP pickles 😢
As a kid as soon as I ate tomatoes I would come out in a rash. Cucumber and peppers give me the worst acid reflux. I’ve just started carnivore, I’m about 5 days in, and already feel like I have more energy.
People find out what I eat (carnivore) and tell me they are glad fruits and veggies don't negatively affect them. I just smile and say, "Really?" Waste of time to explain to them. I used to try but the eye rolls convinced me to just keep quiet. 😐
@VeganVitality yes plants are most definitely negatively affecting you. Your mental state is proof enough
Fruits helped Paul Saladino. And he wrote a whole book on the carnivore diet 😊
@@VeganVitality Yeah, that's what I meant
@dragan176 Paul was not following a true carnivore diet. Now he's changed his mind about it. I follow him and like him. However, I know what fruits and veggies do to me, and now, with that Gates Apeal poison, I'm not touching them. But, you do you.
@@VeganVitality 😊 really?
I never thought I had a problem with nightshades. A vegetable dish I had eaten often in Greek restaurants, briami (roasted vegetables), and enjoyed, and learned to make at home, includes a lot of nightshades, including potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers, and eggplant. There are other ingredients, and it’s all drenched in olive oil, but I never noticed a reaction to it.
But when I first began a fairly strict carnivore diet (it’s more low-carb now), I ordered a ribeye in a restaurant. It came with mashed potatoes. I had had one the previous week and my digestion was excellent. But about three bites of mashed potato and I became full of gas, feeling conspicuous as I left hurriedly after the meal. I haven’t had potatoes since.
Chris Cooking Nashville has the perfect carnivore mashed potatoes recipe, I made it once and no longer crave them, knowing I can have them anytime I want. They are so good.
I agree with Dr. Chaffee
I cannot eat nightshades either! My health suffers horribly. I’ve been carnivore since Jan 2024. Fat lost to date 40lbs! I feel so much better! My heath is certainly better!
So on this carnivore diet do you only eat red meat and drink water?
This is a real question and I’m not trying to be rude or disrespectful…
What do you eat for breakfast?
@@nal7267 I eat for my first meal two pasture raised fried eggs, three to four slices of bacon. My last meal I have some type of meat, usually beef, but I can have seafood, pork, chicken, if I choose but I pretty much stay eating beef. I can have butter, cream, and a few other things like cheese on occasion. I stay with this way of eating because it’s healing my body and I’m losing weight where before I could not lose weight on the conventional diet. I do have coffee with cream, and I have tea and smart water to drink. I use Redmans salt. I take vitamins and a few prescription meds for my congestive heart failure, which by the way I have improved so much my blood pressure before taking any meds runs around 114/55. My pulse is anywhere from 70 to 80 and my oxygen level is usually 96 to 97. I will be doing another round of labs soon to see where I have improved. I am loosing two to three lbs every week. I keep my carbs under 10 a day. I do fast every day between 12 and 16 hours. I only eat twice a day and usually within an 8 hour window. I hope this answered your question and if not please let me know. All I can say is my health has done a complete turn around since going carnivore and I believe the pasture raised beef has been a healing factor for my gut issues.
This lady has a LOT of food ideas. That is so helpful. Very patient but straight talk chef instructionals, how she lives that diet. The daily hands-on'ness. Love the Dr too. He is pure goodwill, pure truth delivered gently.
He's Why. She's how. And they're in great company, helping each other, learning, doing, and sharing.
Thank you!
I've been carnivore for about 2 months. I just decided to try some hot sauce which was an everyday staple prior. And my body immediately rejected it. I couldnt believe it.
I tried bell peppers after 3 weeks carnivore, mak8ng pepper steak. NEVER again!! Had the worst heartburn. 😫 I'd never noticed it before, but my body was fully aware it didn't want peppers!!
That happens to me as well!
Actually had reaction to nightshades as a small child, but thought it was normal. Eating spaghetti, couldn't even make it through a meal without going to the toilet. Potatos created bloat. Absolutely hated bell peppers, made me want to vomit. And eggplant, oh don't even!
BUT didn't realize it was the nightshades until going keto arrived the age of 40. "Cheated" and ate 3 French fries and hand joints were swollen for 3 days. Slicing tomatoes caused rashes on the hands.
Really really miss tomatoes!
I hear you! nightshades are not for me either!
Thankyou
I'm sorta one toe in the carnivore door. I struggle with eating the fatty stuff and eating so much meat. I had a bit of carbs last week. Trying to learn recipes to make so I don't brainfart & just sit out a meal & then just be happy with cheese & a hardboiled egg.
I've been carnivore for just over ten months now. I have tried adding things back in that I haven't had in a long time. Like a glass of wine or mushrooms in an omelet or greens. What I have noticed is ankle swallowing when I eat any of these or drink the wine. The worst is if I eat any breaded or coated food, like fish and chips, which I love. I can sometimes suffer for a couple of days after that. So until you eliminate it, you don't know.
I know how I feel when I eat certain vegetables but had chosen to eat them anyway. I don't do that anymore. It's not worth it.
I would think that some are genetically better able to handle plant based diet based off of where their ancestors are from in the world. Some areas people have been dependent on plant based diet more than others based off of meat availability and the other way around for meat being readily available.
Anita I love your videos TU Dr Chaffee
I wish I could come sit & talk to dr.chaffee
👍How much of an anti nutrient is too much? Those of us who’ve given up plants don’t miss them.
AGREED!
I am with you on the night shade veggies! I only eat romaine/iceberg lettuce... Once in a great while.... mushrooms.. Great video Anita!
The only veggies I’ve kept are bell peppers, avocados and cucumbers. I’ve had congestion for the past week and I just ate bell peppers and instant congestion again! I think they are the culprit.
yup, stop eating veggies...they cause any and all illnesses I suspect.
I can't eat nightshades either
Nightshades are a no go for me. Most vegetables are inedible to me but nightshades are poison.
Logical.
The answer is it depends on your gut biome and metabolic pathways
My body even tells me when not to eat sour cream it tastes funky.
Be careful, many sour creams with wholesome sounding names have bad crap in them, like modified corn starch.
We all have different genetics and I'm not talking about human genetics. Some people can tolerate different things better based on what their ancient ancestors mutated along with. Most of people's problems with food is that they just don't exercise like they did when they were a kid.
We may have different tolerances for certain things, but we all require fat and protein for health. There is not one human alive that is the exception to this. And you CANNOT out exercise a bad diet
Correct. It is therefore important to find out what works best for you and to eliminate the problematic foods from your diet. Then, your diet will provide you with optimal nutrition.
@@Jennieadams1979 As far as heart health or general health yes you're right you can't out exercise a bad diet. But you can be skinny even if you have a bad diet. We were all young once and some of us played a lot of sports and we could eat and drink whatever we wanted and not put on 1 pound and it has nothing to do with metabolism and has everything to do with Exercise.
@@dannybachner899that's not accurate at all, but you do you
@@Jennieadams1979 it's fact. Go play full court basketball for 3 hours a day 5 days a week. You can eat mc donalds donuts and drink all soda you want and be skinny.
Thanks for sharing.
My friend says she does so well and is at her best when she is a raw food vegan. I believe her. But I did want to find out what it's like for her to feel her best. She still eats omnivore though. Maybe if it comes up again I will ask her specifically about bloating and has.
He calls tomatoes tomatoes, lol
Well he lives in Australia. That’s how Australians say it
I eat ketovore but getting closer to carnivore. The cleaner I eat sertain foods I thought were OK are starting to bother me.
This has been happening to me too! The more I eliminate the more sensitive I become!
Me too. For years after a diagnosis of celiac disease, first I eliminated all wheat. Still had problems. Read “The Grain Brain” and “Wheat Belly” and stopped all grains. No beer and then no alcohol at all. Still unhappy gut. So I cut out all nightshades. Then dairy. Then leafy greens. Then sweet potatoes. Then sugar in any form. Then all plants. Now I’ve been eating only beef for about 5 months. I had some discomfort while my body adjusted to digesting a higher fat content. A little baking soda in water helped with that. Now I eat only fatty red meat and salt and only drink water to which I add electrolytes. That’s it. Feel much better despite being almost 80 and with other medical conditions. I think fondly of the food I used to love, like the memory of an old lover who you now know was bad for you.
It’s weird after a month and half of carnivore, lemon juice and onions give me stomach pains. Fresh lemon juice and under 2 T spoons.
I’m off of all other veggies and fruits
In the past, we felt better when we ate vegetables because what we didn't realize was that the more vegetables we ate, the less processed food we were eating. However, once we pull back on that, and stick to just meat, that is when we actually find out we're feeling healthy REALLY feels like. Good clip!
Most veggies aren’t nightshades
Yes, we can. Not all of us react to these plants. Our diet is very varied. I know what good feels like, and I know plants to avoid. Good for those who thrive on more meat. I thrive more on plants and less meat.
For now, but you need the same things we all do to thrive, which is protein and fat. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. A diet heavy in plants is not healthy for anyone ❤
No, eventually, it will catch up to you, and you'll just chalk it up to age.
@@Jennieadams1979 You and who? That's your view. I don't have to follow your views. My whole family is thriving on the same food types and live upwards of over 100 years - for centuries. Perhaps you don't have that kind of familial history. I am the healthiest I have ever been, after suffering many conditions for many years. Plants have protein too, That's how plant eating animals get their protein. Stick with what works for you, I am sticking with what works for me. I eat meat sparingly.
@tlraffaele You wish. At my age, it won't get worse than I have been through and overcome. My older relatives, whose health has improved significantly, are great proof of the healthy life I will enjoy as I get older. I am looking forward to it. Imagine being 93 years old and looking forward to being 100 years old. Or being 99 years old and looking forward to more years alive. That's the life awaiting me! Are you hoping for that kind of life?
@mandandi, yet for some reason you feel compelled to watch carnivore videos.
Apes have a secum to digest fruit, we do not. Other herbivores have a multi chambered digestive system to ferment fiber, we do not.
Our stomach acid is stronger than lions and tigers.
It’s probably a cumulative effect as well.
I'm sorry, I have to disagree. I've been carnivore-ish (+coffee) for more than a year now. My partner is not. I very occasionally have a bit of cucumber or tomato while tasting when cooking for both of us. Once I ate a whole serving of grilled veg as a side. Zero issues, except some bloating. I had very few issues before switching to keto and ultimately carnivore, too - biggest one was sleep, some digestive issues that I just swapped for new ones (my fat digestion is abysmal, even after more than a year). I handled plants relatively well.
😊💜💜
Lol..
Ppl take a beano
It helps with so many different vegetables
You will be thrilled
Seriously no more suffering
I'm so glad i tried it
Beano does not have the chemical capacity to neutralize solanine which is the alkaloid responsible. Beano supplies microbes which reduce gas. Gas is not the problem with nightshades.
I have no gas issues
I'm Italian American and tomato is something
that is eaten at least 3 times or more a week
I was no longer able to eat them
The pain was horrific.
The little pill is a miracle
No more excruciating pain
I even take the equate brand sometimes
So so happy I tried it
@@ketokarbs3671 looks like you didn't understand what Dr Chaffee said.
Why take a pill to eat poison?
🙄🙄🤦🏻
@@ketokarbs3671 I'm glad you have improvement.
I can eat any plants and I feel so much better than when I did carnivore for 3 miserable years !
I agree. My health is so much better.
I have a hard time believing you. Why would you do something for that long if you were miserable? Sounds like vegan propaganda to me.....
@VeganVitality you're a mindless sheep following whatever big pharma and big food corporations tell you. Very sad, actually
Be careful of those oxalates!
@@Jennieadams1979Same thing we could say about the vegans, why so long doing it? But vegans do it for ethical reasons mostly
🫶🏽🖖🏽
I'd like someone to tell me why I can't eat meat! Nobody ever ask that question.
Because your gut microbiome is destroyed from eating plants and grains. Could also be leaky gut. That's a huge sign your gut needs healing
@@Jennieadams1979 I've been like this since I was six years old. I doubt it was leaky gut at that age.
@@gidget8717it very well could have been
@@Jennieadams1979 really? I don't know how I can fix it. The last time I ate too much meat (I can safely eat 2oz daily) I had so much stomach acid, I aspirated it into my lungs in the middle of the night. Not fun! My esophagus was so swollen I couldn't eat nor talk for 13 days. Couldn't even drink water for the first 4 days. I try to look on the bright side, I lost 12 pounds in those two weeks. 😁 (I'm pretty sure my husband thought the fact I couldn't chatter was a plus🙄) I watch all these doctors saying how grand carnivore is but nobody even hints that there could be people like me. Okay I know I'm in the minority but surely there's more people like me?
Why can't you eat meat? What happens if you do?
The words all over the faces is very distracting.
