    I suffer from a condition called grumbling appendix. There are days where I cannot physically move because of the pain. I'm hoping to grow out of it

    Why couldn't they just use medical ultrasound to determine, whether Bethany has appendicitis?

    Feel really sorry for Olivia, to have her cancerous tumour come back, then having to have a liver transplant😢

    My dad had liver cancer... he had over 100 maybe over 200 if I'm right. He lived only about 4 months after he was told that there was a few tumors... I miss him so much. I would give anything to spend at least a few more minutes with my dad.

    I am surprised the tumour had not been discovered before the birth via scan?

      greenpeas154 in the UK, the last scan we are offered is at 20 weeks. Other than that, we don't have any unless there's reason to like growth problems etc. You can pay for a private scan but they're not used for diagnostic purposes.

    • @juliea9833
      @juliea9833 8 років тому +20

      She had a water birth; maybe they didn't do the amount of scans that most moms to be do. She may have had the earlier scans that may not have picked it up. But it is definitely questionable :/ even if they had known, they wouldn't have been able to do much of anything unless a doctor was willing to attempt an operation on an unborn baby.

    • @mindrolling24
      @mindrolling24 8 років тому +37

      In Australia, we have one scan at 18 weeks.
      Why would you need more? It is completely unnecessary unless something appears to be amiss on that one scan.
      Scans may seem benign but all investigations carry risks.
      I think they have many more done as 'routine' in the USA because they charge for them and thus someone makes a profit. We also don't have paediatricians and ob/gyns but simply have visits with a GP. Pregnancy isn't an illness.

    Poor babies, this is so sad that they have to go through this. American doctors probably would have caught it because of our LBGYN/fetal surgeon doctors, in not 100% sure if they have a good amount of those. Hope she heals and lives to have a wonderful life

      Just.like.fire_ Not necessarily. There cancerous tumours that get missed all the time worldwide. We have those type of doctors here as well, it's a rare cancer anyone could have missed it, especially in the womb. Also the parents, they chose a more natural approach and probably opted for less scans. They're just one of the unlucky few.

    • @MarijeK
      @MarijeK 8 років тому +61

      Just.like.fire_ It sounds like you think the UK is some sort of third world country... It was a one in a million case, if it's not suspected, any doctor would have missed this.

      we have some awesome doctors here. Having had a premature and seeing some of the cases in the SCBU unit? I can only praise them: such an amazing dedication and they don't cost us a penny. Our taxes put to work to the service of health.
