I started watching these yesterday and haven't stopped, i have decided to do a fundraiser for a hospital here in Australia because of this show, doctors are truly hero's, thank you.
I have a rare syndrom called ODDD (me and my mam are the only ones in britain to have it so far) which stands for Oclo, Digital , Dental and Displacia syndrom meaning it affects my hearing as i am deaf in one ear with perferations in both, joints as my fingers are deformed aka not straight and eye sight as i have stigma as well. ever since i was born, 3 months old i think well thats what mam told me, i had 4 operations each year (2 on my hands since they couldn't do both at the same time and 2 on my ears) so i missed alot of school work and couldn't make as many friends sadly. The operations still go till I'm 18 which hopefully is the last one.
I had a cleft lip and palate and had a lot of surgeries. Just be patient and everything will get better. I had the same surgery at six years old. They took the bone out of my left hip!! The bone graph will recover soon.I look so different to this day because of the amazing doctors and nurses who stuck with me since day one!!! GO FREYA!!!!
His lil ring is so cute, I felt so bad for him. It's gotta be terrifying. I was attacked by a dog pretty severely when I was 6 so I definitely know his fears :(
My heart breaks for kids and parents each time. This show is so addicting. American doctor shows just can't captivate and interest you like these series do. Thank you for helping these families
That play specialist is incredible! Does anyone know if we have positions like that in the states? I’m a nursing student and I know that we have social workers, but I’ve never come across a specific volunteer/position just for helping calm the children’s nerves with play. What a great idea!!
As realmms said, Child Life Specialists (as they're known in Canada & the USA), work within hospitals to provide support & education to children so that they can cope with both their conditions & their experience within the medical system. They're invaluable!
Freya has the exact same problem as my mum did when she was little. My mum felt the exact same way and was bullied every day all day. It's heartbreaking.
Always share what’s going to happen to your kids. It’s their bodies and they have a right to know what that doctor’s gonna do. My mom held me down for my five year old shots instead of explaining what was going to happen and I spent the rest of my childhood absolutely terrified of doctors. They can be scared and scream and cry but they still have a right to know what you’re going to do.
I actually thought i was the only person with A cleft palate and seeing freya going through the same things as me, brings back memories of when i had the exact same operation, i had, i'm crying because sometimes you don't often know if your the only person with that condition and to see that there is millions of people with the same condition as me is great
So I have watched all series 1 and was hoping one of my medical conditions would be in it. I click on episode 11 and its about Arthritis, which i suffer from. (i left a comment on that video ;) and then this episode was about cleft lip and palates and i was born with a cleft palate. It feels amazing to be able to understand what these children are going through! I have only had 2 operations on my cleft whereas my twin sister has had around 6 or 7.
@Camille Moore I've always wanted one too, but was never ''lucky enough'' to be able to get one when I was a kid. I was 19 when I finally did get one on my right arm due to a cat bite that led to an infection. As soon as they put it on, I wanted to have it removed again. It was no fun.
27 th of October 2015 I had a bone marrow transplant and had leukaemia and I had cancer for r 6 years now and I'm 12 and I had it when i was 6 but luckily it's all gone and I'm soooo happy and my dads a doctor so I know everything about leukaemia and all off the nurses and doctors in the hospital I go to know me lol x 💕💕💕 I had cancer twice and about 1,000 needles stuck in me I went to theatre about 500 times in my life and it's been so so hard to manage all of it but everyone think I'm soooo brave 😂and a fighter 😘 hope all the children have a great life 😍😍😍
