This song brings me to tears ever since my dad died back in 2021. This was his go-to request song for pianists, wherever we go. Thanks for this. I love this
It's strange how when you know a song back and forth and you've played it hundreds of times but when you hear someone of Vinheteiro's caliber play it you suddenly hear different sounds coming out. Not different notes because they are all the same you play, but different sounds being created by different styles of articulation and tenderness. I've played this song so many times but I never hear the same notes come out of silence like whenever I hear it from this video, la vita e bella, no?
I think it has to do with training your ear to hear the Balance of chords and deciding in advance your exact phrasing and dynamics. You can hear it also in Tiffany Poon's playing it

@@coolpianostuff Haven’t bought a Steinway yet but I did upgrade from a Casio digital piano with hammer graded keys to a new Yamaha U3 upright. I've thought the same as well. The image of one person playing this in an empty concert hall, as nuclear warheads rain down across the globe always comes to mind. Or an image of one person playing it, meanwhile outside, soldiers march through, executing everyone who comes near. It's the song of temporary peace, yet also one of sorrow. But it also is a song of finality. One of the end of something. It only seems fitting to be played at the end of the world.
I don't know man, when the camera changes on 0:56 to reveal the empty chairs overlooking the stage... That's pretty weird. As in, it captured the subtle loneliness conveyed in the piece? This song is always a mix of bliss and a bit of sadness, for some reason... Great video, awesome piano, and a fine pianist.
That feeling of bittersweet is actually called nostalgia, that's what I've been told anyways. There are sad music that just sounds sad, like 'the sound of silence' but then there are these musical pieces that makes you happy to be sad.
@@kenz2756 Nostalgia describes the feeling of longing you get when thinking back on the past. I think a better word for this is "melancholy", which is the most direct synonym to bittersweet.
@Tesco worker Lewis The classic hypocritical reply, anyone could say the same thing to you. But I giggled to that since I'm the one who asked you a question in the first place, and you're the one who we didn't ask.
Bravo Vinheteiro! Not too slow. Fluid, yet with a hint of spice. Delightfully fanciful and playful in places. A superb performance, and overall one of my favorites among a crowded field of talented pianists. Nice that you shared top billing with this remarkable instrument. Kudos as well to the room acoustics and professional miking. The louder high notes sparkle, but without becoming brittle. Thanks so much for this wonderful gift!
Tried listining to something else then directly on the speaker of your phone? On my phone it sounds very noisy and bad. On my headphones or stereo it sounds great. Yes it’s not the best of the best quality but then again go to a concert^^
nade I know, but is it really still that bad? I really don’t hear much difference between a high quality spotify track or the same on YT. And that’s with expansive studio headphones and a good hearing.
@@pepriday6435 There is tons of research now from double-blind studies, AB testing etc that these differences are usually in the mind of the listener. The bottleneck to audio quality is the human ear - after a certain point increases in bit rate/reduced compression are no longer detectable under blind conditions. The audio in this track is not perfect because it's probably not using the very best possible microphone and conditions. But it's unlikely that audio compression is having much affect on your experience.

That sound has made quite a few young children think, "I want to make that sound!". It's the song of temporary peace, yet also one of sorrow. But it also is a song of finality. One of the end of something. It only seems fitting to be played at the end of the world.
I have the same kind of feeling... but I imagine the planet Earth from its begining until its total collapse.
@@staigepettit7441 Ah yes, then melancholy is nostalgia but without the nostalgia lol.
@Tesco worker Lewis Did you reply to the wrong post? I don't understand what upset you or how any of this is related to 'weeb' lol.
@Tesco worker Lewis The classic hypocritical reply, anyone could say the same thing to you. But I giggled to that since I'm the one who asked you a question in the first place, and you're the one who we didn't ask.
This literally let me release 6 months of emotions into 15 minutes of crying and grief. Goddamn I love classical music
It's a safe zone, bro.
Let it out
Any Debussy will do that. I hope you're feeling better.
We’re all here for you man
I thought debussy was romantic period. Edit: yep it is, written long after classical period ended but before rag.
I'd recommend chopin for mixed emotions... but mostly sadness.
That paino sound quality is perfection plus the piece just makes this a joy to listen to.
Well done sir well done
Bravo Vinheteiro! Not too slow. Fluid, yet with a hint of spice. Delightfully fanciful and playful in places. A superb performance, and overall one of my favorites among a crowded field of talented pianists. Nice that you shared top billing with this remarkable instrument. Kudos as well to the room acoustics and professional miking. The louder high notes sparkle, but without becoming brittle. Thanks so much for this wonderful gift!
Your writing skills are on spot.
I really enjoy his interpretation of this song. I feel he gets the most out of every note, emphasizing each key in such an elegant way.
Agree. He wasn’t even playing to show off himself, but to show off the piano. Exactly like you said.

He is showing of the piano and the exquisite composition of the music

U should watch a few videos of violinist Ray Chen...he has the best expressions while playing ... puts so much emotion into every piece he plays
I'm glad I found out about this song from Danganronpa. It makes this masterpiece even more beautiful.

"Clair de Lune on a $250,000.00 piano - Debussy"
me: listening on youtube with garbage compressed audio quality...
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Tried listining to something else then directly on the speaker of your phone?
On my phone it sounds very noisy and bad. On my headphones or stereo it sounds great. Yes it’s not the best of the best quality but then again go to a concert^^
@@FutureOfGamesNL it's still not rhe best it could be because of UA-cam audio compression is what I think he's trying to say
nade I know, but is it really still that bad? I really don’t hear much difference between a high quality spotify track or the same on YT. And that’s with expansive studio headphones and a good hearing.
@@FutureOfGamesNL that's because even high quality in spotify is still highly compressed
Me: can you teach me how to play this?

Natural harmonics on a classical guitar add so much depth in this song that's crazy
@@maxime3439 Nah, it sound much better on piano if I have to be honest.
Beautyfull played. I had a stroke spring this year. Listend to this melodi, while learning to walk in the halls of the hospital in night time.
Wow. I've never heard this interpretation before. He basically accentuated the other harmonic notes to bring a different flavour to this piece. Stunning.
Not a fan of this interpretation. It was very robotic. Very little, if any, phrasing or dynamics.
This comment and reply just shows how bloody moronic and ridiculous art elitism is.
@@argo3657 big facts
@@argo3657 how is it elitism to dislike or like an interpretation? It is just a matter of taste
@@christophermichaelson9050 yeah. It's like he doesn't feel any emotion playing this. It's too fast and robotic. He didn't play this with emotion... More of a show off that he can play it in an expensive piano while starting at the camera.

i would say the same if i didn’t know what danganronpa was
It is supposed to be - Clair de lune directly translates to: "The light of the moon".
By far the best Clair de Lune piano execution on UA-cam. Full of emotion. Indeed music is the space between the notes. Orgulho de ser brasileiro vendo o Vinheteiro
Full of emotion?

I'm fond of Classical music: classical impressionism especially and be happy to hear so clear & high sound of this Debussy's masterpiece!
De verdad que amo Clair de Lune da igual el sitio donde me encuentre, siempre va a ser un buen momento para escucharla de nuevo
That sound has made quite a few young children think, "I want to make that sound!". And when Mom buys them a third-hand piano and a few lessons, and they spend five years practicing scales, and it sounds nothing at all like the clear droplets of music from the Steinway, they give up and sell the piano to the next family whose kid thinks they want to learn to play piano.
Ace Lightning No.

That's a sad way of thinking 😢
Everyone says it's sad, but it's kinda true. I guess it would be the same for me too if we didn't have a nice piano.
@@ryanschubert5480 some people want to play the piano but don't réalise that it is hard work. If you practice a little every day then you get good and it becomes fun. I am not sure the sound of the piano has anything to do with it
