What a great and informative video! There are a lot of monetisation videos out there but very few mention fishing as a niche. I’m now less than 100 from my 1000 subs and am a little excited 😊
That's awesome dude I hope you get there and then blow past!! As a small update I didn't end up making as much as I expected because after Christmas the ads go way down, plus I couldn't keep up the weekly videos/good videos! But I'm still grinding haha. Tight lines 😎
Fighting evil by moonlight, catching fish by daylight. Rosin’s out here fighting for truth and honour. Right on. o7 I’ve never looked into the business end of UA-cam so this was interesting to me.
I am TUXEDO MASK! Sorry, I watched Sailor Moon a lot when I was younger (#noregrets) and this sounded like a reference! Happy it is of interest to you and thanks for the support!!
@@RosinFlyFishing Aw yeah, Sailor Moon fans, unite!! I’ve got one UA-cam business question: What is a “non-monetised playback”, or what would be an example of that?? Thanks for your continued sharing of information, Rosin.
A monetized playback is any view that was long enough to have an ad play associated with it. I'm not 100% sure of all the details and types, but an easy example of a non-monetized playback os if someone clicks on the video, watches only a couple seconds, then clicks away :)
Interesting. It’s great that you can make some pocket change with views in the hundreds or low thousands, especially if it’s something you enjoy and are doing regardless. Thank you for your content!
Thanks for your comment! I love making videos of fishing and the beauty of nature so It's a nice bonus to make a couple bucks :). I appreciate your support!
Thanks for that. It's really interesting. I am a small channel growing in Australia. Nearly halfway to monetisation. I think getting sponsors and affiliate deals will be important and not so much relying on ad revenue.
Good luck mate!! I haven't been active searching for sponsors but it's definitely the best way forward to achieve financial stability for growth of your channel. I wish you all the best! Lmk if you have any questions about my experience I'm pretty open book :)
I ended up making less than anticipated my first year after learning that summer and before Christmas are good for views and ads respectively, and january through june can be more rough haha. But that's totally related to video quality, frequency, and fan base and I know others do a much better job than me :). Good luck with your fishing and channel!
@@RosinFlyFishing Hi Rosin last time sent you a message i was working on Monetizing my channel. finally got in the partner program last week, CMP is Low does it increase? any advise.
Yup, I can agree with TF here. And as you have already discovered, the old videos can still make money, so the rate of income growth will snowball over time.
Happy to help! Unfortunately my projections were higher than my actual earnings as that was a high income month, but that's partly on me and my videos :). Good luck, you'll be there in no time!!
Interesting. Its a more than what I thought. I've seen people post up with a few thousand views and they say that they have only recieved about 5 bucks.
Hey Tim, from my understanding this far it is highly complex: for one, some topics like finance make tons of ad money, fishing is middle of the road, and gaming is very low ad money. Beyond the base ads, the country and city the channel is based in, the viewership geography, and the time of year all have s big big influence. So those folks may be telling the truth!! :)
Thank you for sharing! New subscriber here. Full watch as well. I’ve had a goal to try and produce content that will attract viewers and watch time of course. I have a long way to go content wise. I really just have the love for fishing and I believe it’s a great hobby sharing fishing adventures. For me it gives me hope In all honesty. Fishing is so stress free for me. Again thanks for sharing, I’ll be sure to give your channel much more watch time. Tight lines 💯✊🏻
I thought it would be higher and I only have 129 subs😢 I’m trying to get monetized so I can buy a fly tying kit. I used to post everything but I focus more on fishing now. I just got a fly rod and am starting to get into it.❤
Unfortunately actually its lower than I predicted for me personally, by about 40%. Partly bad/unpopular videos and also after Christmas ads die off for a while. Ah well, such is life! Good luck with the grind mate!!
You WILL get monetized dude! So much of my growth has been location based. Literally Bow River and Capilano River videos alone drove over 80% of my growth, and that was search based content. That helped me a lot with 'discovery'. If you have local systems you can take advantage of to drive some familiarity in your audience I think that could be valuable. I believe you travel a lot and fish many different places (I'm jealous of that ability) but it probably makes it slower to gain traction early, but it will be HUGE for you long term!!! So keep grinding, it'll be worth it :)
@@RosinFlyFishing thanks man! Yeah that’s the down side of the one place close to me is on fire but my closest other places are about 4 hours away so I usually film when we go on trips! Gotta keep putting content out and be patient but I’ll give that a try on some of my next videos too! Thanks for the advice!
@@legacyfishingtv I wish I was, channel is still up but with big changes in my family and working so much I think I’ve fished 3 times this year. I’m keeping the channel going and hopefully when life settles down I will get back to putting out more content I just don’t have the time at all anymore.
@@CA2CAoutdoors complelty understand. I put down the dream 5 years ago. I'd just found this channel of mine tonight. I have my main personal channel amd two others. This, actionfishing and captinhooked. Lol couldn't ever choose a name. Still not sure which one to go with but dammit after all my family changes I've decided to get back in to my passion. Fishing is all I really know how to do. Had to get my mind straight and deal with some past issues before I could ever focus enough to edit and stay motivated. Past demons are a mfer. I'll be fishing a pre lim tournament Friday. After doing some soup searching the past year and finally moving home to Florida, single again, I'm remembering who I am and finding myself enjoying fishing again. Wish me luck. Wish you luck as well. I'll check out your channel real quick and subscribe..
Haha the reason is that I pumped out a daily short for about 4 months straight. Brought a ton of views and subs (though the subscribers from this are not really there for the long form content)
Oh man good for you on subs, that was my struggle lol. For hours, I guess if it's cool in your area targeting some SEO videos can help, but, honestly just make videos you enjoy and have fun, people vibe with that energy :). GL!
Haha 100% I'm with you, I just kept that side of it very low key in this video. You did a great job with your video and actually that's when I started being more.mindful of gas receipts, etc. So I'll miss out on my first 7 months of the this year's gas and trip receipts (I have all my internet and home related stuff) unfortunately but since about August I'm being very careful with every little thing! Just have to find a good small business tax person here....
In Canada small businesses under a certain threshold of income don't need to be formally registered but yes I will include a small business under my name next tax season. I will expense out various things and despite a low business revenue, claiming expenses will help with my personal income tax refund based on income from my regular job :)
