    All very cool. Very much miss the “everyday lawn guy” videos you used to do.
    Not many of us have room or a need for a golf course in our yard.
    But I do still appreciate your content. Some of it is still relatable to normal lawns.

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  Місяць тому +23

      I get this comment a lot so I think it's a good spot to address it. When I moved from a neighborhood to where we are now it gave me the opportunity to have everything under the sun at my disposal for the "everyday lawn guy" - plots of every grass type, irrigated or non irrigated, height of cut trials, shade trials etc and etc and I did all of that hard work over the last 3 years for the every day person to gain valuable knowledge from it. It seems like maybe some missed the point of that though and didn't see a neighborhood house out front and therefore didn't see it as something they could relate to. There's around 650 free videos related to homeowner lawn care and 3 that have anything to do with my golf project which has been a dream of mine since I was a kid and something I am doing for me. I can't make the old videos again nor do I want to make the same thing over and over again topic wise but it may just be time to move on to other things in general outside of video making. I appreciate you watching over the years and hopefully that old content that will stay there is something you can go back to from time to time.

      @@ryanknorrlawncareI absolutely did not mean to offend with my statement and apologize if I did. I get the dream becoming reality, I really do and congrats to you for the hard work being able to make that happen.
      I have been an avid watcher of all your content, even your personal page back when you showed your vocal talents.
      My wife and I enjoyed your journey in establishing Westberry Acres and the build of your home.
      I hope you keep the content coming and my comment was just an observation, not a criticism.
      Prayers for your continued success!!! I will be watching!!

      @Digging_Holes Місяць тому +3

      Ryan - I don’t think it’s what you’re filming, maybe more the equipment that is used, and like you called out, the fact that you’re on an acreage instead of a neighborhood that makes it “less relatable” to some. I’ve always loved your video style, and am here for whatever content you want to put out there. It’s free to watch for me, but it’s obvious you spend many hours on the filming and editing. It would be our loss if you chose to stop sharing your experiences and expertise on UA-cam.

    I’ve had the Hudson Star with my putting green for t a year now. It’s been a love/hate relationship. Needs constant adjustments and the cutting height is not consistent from side to side so I have to do multiple cuts and it can damage my green below .20” Also feel like it needs backlapped every 3-4 cuts so it doesn’t pull the roots out.

    I planted bentgrass in September. You mentioned covering your green maybe to kickstart it in the spring? Does that mean keep it covered all winter? Only when it snows? Once dormant? What are the pros/cons?

    Adding another comment to note about the clover. It definitely is not the most likely stuff to hang in there in tough situations, and I will also say to watch out for frost if you do try to keep it green into winter. But it is also surprising, it does come back. I had sections pop up in spring that I literally could not see signs of live or even dead clover that is how far it died back but it came back and thrived for a while. I don't think it is a full lawn replacement at all though but if you do tolerate it and not consider it a weed it can be pretty surprising.

    Wow, huge projects, very impressive! Question on the drought tolerant grass seeds, WHY are you trying to do Bluegrass/PRG mix?! Isn't TTTF is the most draught tolerant of all grass types? Why not using TTTF for those areas that don't get irrigation?!

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  Місяць тому +1

      Common myth. As a species it is but there are certain cultivars of others that are just as good or out compete it which is what I learned from my visit to Oregon. I dont like tall fescue in general and want the fairway cut at 1" so it's not a great choice for that from my test plots and feel under foot. It also is drought tolerant but once it goes beyond a certain point it dies off easier than bluegrass and doesn't spread so you have to overseed to fix it.
