You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing. To catch that pun working itself out shows he cares about the equipment. Everyone on this farm takes care of their equipment though. Having good people with the same mindset sure makes things run better.
I saw a similar fuel trailer on my way to work the other morning and as I drove by it, out loud to myself I just said "thunder" and just kept driving. Love what you and yours do, Zach.
As someone who has worked in a feed mill where I’m constantly moving products into/out of many bins. Bin indicators are sooo nice to have, where if the grain is covering that sensor close to the top, it lights up on my panel, so when I move my distributor that I have labelled, I can see what’s full and what isn’t. Powered distributors are so nice when you’re not wanting to fiddle with sloppy cables that break/get jammed up a ton. And also labeling with magnets on the distributor bin numbers on my panel what’s in each bin is good too!
Ey Zack, out of curiosity. Could you make a video explaining all the different pieces of equipment that you use to work the soil, what they do and why you use it?
I would love to see that. I'm really interested to see the diffirance between the soil prep that we do back here in the Netherlands and what you guys are doing for soil prep.
Great you didn‘t have to extinguish Fire on the combine this time. Really Like the Education, Entertainment and Engagement with Mrs Millenial Farmer (aka the Editor Becky). Zach is a Great Tutor for farming explanations. All the best from 20 degrees Celsius in southern Germany. Looking forward to the Next Video to come
I learned too that the FM tends to settle in the center & if there’s gonna be a hot spot, that’s where it’d be. Bin fires are horrible in a lot of ways.
Here in the UK on farm equipment we always put at least a second and often a third roll pin up the centres of the larger roll pins and then wired them through. Never had one work out in field and only took a few extra blows of the hammer and punch to get them out when doing repairs.
The older one gets the more careful one becomes. You learn from past experiences and apply that knowledge to every task. Also there is less haste involved which allows pending problems to be found before they happen.
I’m no farmer but both of my grandfathers were. I can remember my mom’s dad standing at least a 1/4 mile away from a cotton picker that I could barely tell was running and cursing out loud cause, in his words, “he don’t have that **** machine set right.” Now I’m trying to imaging what he would say about you logging onto that machine and checking the settings from your smart phone. It could go either way. Thanks for the great content.
The other farming channel showed a fire in a corn field. And there was another video where the woman went over everything that farmers do to prevent fire or at least reduce the chance of fire. You should do a video like that too so we can see what you guys do to prevent fire in the field.
Always good to take precautions when it comes to combines and making sure to prevent too much chaff. I have seen what happens when you don’t and it isn’t pretty.
The end of that cylinder isn't threaded. It's actually held on by two snap rings. You take off the outside ring, hammer the end in and then there is a piece in the rebuild kit you use to pull it all back out. Took me a long time to figure it out but pretty easy once I figured it out.
Thanks for another awesome video Zack and everyone. Most definitely interesting and informative. You and your dad were talking about fire prevention this year. Think that is wise. Very dry year and have been some field and equipment fires on some of the UA-cam channels. Your dad had that small one last year so know he is careful. Dry year. Looks like your harvest operation is going good right now. Jim lost a disk off of the ripper but you found it and the two of you got it back on. Those are not light pieces. Thanks for doing the lifting and let Jim handle the bolts. Nice touch!!!!! Looks like you have the dryer and bin system working well together. Yeah!!!!!!👍. About it I guess. Dogs got their ride so they are happy. Thanks for everything. You all take care and be safe. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
My fire department has had to fight four field fires so far this year. Three big ones in the past week. Stay safe, my friends! The harvester dust mixed with the dry stubble & field chaff is quite the mixture for disaster.
Someone suggested that disk would make a good Wok, but Zach, I think the Rapper "Incredible Z" could wear it with a large chain around his neck. He could easily put it together cause he Does have opposable thumbs 😁. Thanks for the hard work of farming and making videos and thank you Becky for editing them and making "The Incredible Z" look good. John here, photographing the beautiful back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee, y'all.
We bought a new tiller for our big tractor today we get it the first of the month but should make a nice addition to the farm Hope y’all are having a great day!
Hey Zach, glad you had a great day today with not too many problems. Good idea about the fire hazard on the combine. God bless you and your family. Thanks for a good video.
Fire prevention is important, while driving the Case 9120 this year we had smoke come from the grain cleaning fan. Not a fun smell to get while dumping corn on the go. Was time to drive it towards a dirt patch and hope shes good.
Another great video. That said, I cringed when you picked up the disc!!! A pair of good quality leather gloves stowed in each tractor/truck could prevent an awful injury. Gloves and safety glasses have saved me a few times…. Cheers.
This one was a classic..."A Day in the Life of Corn Harvest" - well done...as usual...well shot...well narrated and with the gorgeous sunset, the animals, your crew and equipment...good stuff! Thank you!
Having a lot of song birds out by your deer stand, will help it blend in so the deer won’t see it as easily, and you can listen to them while out hunting. So you should dump that grain you shoveled into the skid steer, all around in front of your deer stand, so they have enough to eat. Always have to help out our little birdie friends.
You could get some 1 1/2 fire hose and a nozzle for the chemical trailer so if ya do have a fire you might save the combine and field... Just a thought....We have an old gas truck we out fitted for the job..
Zach, you should look into the cameras quarries use to monitor the crushers and belts. They have much worse dust than the grain bins. I know firsthand that you don't have to clean them off. They are designed so the dust doesn't effect the performance.
I saw a long time ago in one of the successful farming magazine where a farmer used tank sensors from a RV attached to lights on the outside of the bin to keep track of how further bins are
Good ol' Jim wanting to pick up that cymbal and do a tune on his back. (See what I did there) looks like all is going well with tillage right behind combine. Today Oct. 30th it's 80 and breezy in Central Wisconsin. Just need rain bad.
I've got one that has legs on it.The legs are old horseshoes. We use it when we go camping. Set it over some coals and all of your bacon grease settles at the bottom. Then you use the bacon grease so your eggs dont stick. Of course you have to weld up the hole in the bottom.
Thank you again for my Fall harvest fix Zach and Becky! The videos are awesome and I always love the content. I'm gonna rename Jim aka "Hoss" lol! Impressive for his age Respect given! Thank you again and keep the content coming! 😃👍
Zach Becky Dad and Jim great job you guys and young lady harvest is actually going great disking all ready thank you for sharing really enjoyed it thank you
Curious, how long do you let a tractor warm up before operating? Or are they good to go after turning over? Love the content as always zach! And ty misses millennial farmer for all the work you do in the background❤
I remember when I was a kid, my Dad who was a farmer kept a portion of his crops for the next years seed. Some of the smaller grainerys would clean it and bag it for you too. Some he just put in a small bin. Big Farm and Monsanto ended all that with the genetically modified seeds/chemical treated seed.
I mean if you go do your research you'll see that buying seed improves yields over keeping last year's crops. You could keep your seed from the prior year but why keep a portion of your crop when you could get a higher yield by just buying seed instead.
Highly depends on the crop. Still a lot of grains out west and up in Canada that guys use harvest crop for seed. With the hybrids of corn these days even if you did plant some harvested corn, it wouldn’t produce 1/4 of what actual seed does. Soybeans isn’t quite that drastic but still the yields won’t be close to the same. You won’t save enough to make up the difference
"Couple of bolts that usually come loose" on the ripper. Just a bet, you put a breaker bar on that socket and get another eighth turn on them and they don't come loose again. (I'll guess the torque should be about 195 lbs.) Indulge me, I'm curious.
Had a local farmer who's combine caught fire this year too. Another farmer had a pickup catch fire that was hooked to a header trailer. Thankfully I don't think either field went up with it.
Dougo told Chet that he'll find out what a prostate is some day. If I made a visit to the "mens room" I would become part of the harvest, cuz ya, prostate.

I’ve been drinking Liquid IV every day for about a month i think its kind of a similar thing, but i feel great 0 cramps and even extra energy 🤘🏻🇺🇸🦅
Won't simply safe donate a camera for the bin tops, save you the trip 😅
Hello sir
Lifting that disc for Jim is first class young man!
"Calling Dr. Mendabulge, Calling Dr. Mendabulge"
18:20 Jim is a darn good operator. He takes the time to inspect the machine 👍👍✌️✌️
Even though he has been 'fired' about 32 times for getting units stuck.
Right? How did he spot that pushed out roll pin?
You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing. To catch that pun working itself out shows he cares about the equipment. Everyone on this farm takes care of their equipment though. Having good people with the same mindset sure makes things run better.

I've done that too
😅
Or pass a dealer saying thunder..thunder.. thunder..thunder..thundeeeeer....guilty✋️
Jim is the happiest man. Just love him.
As someone who has worked in a feed mill where I’m constantly moving products into/out of many bins. I work at a lime plant and we must have a hundred of them. Neighbor has one on his wet bin
If your dogs had thumbs, they would be driving the Ranger all over the farm. 😊😊😊
That's accurate!
It possible, people quickly forgot about Tunsis The Driving Cat
@MillennialFarmer they might just be able to pick up a wrench and git 'er done!
I think they’re still searching for catdog
If they had thumbs they would be hitch hiking
I think the ranger belongs to Anna and Didge and they don’t want anyone using it without their supervision.
Zach is actually their chauffeur. They just wait around for him to get there
Never thought of it that way but I think you're right 😂😂
Ey Zack, out of curiosity. Could you make a video explaining all the different pieces of equipment that you use to work the soil, what they do and why you use it?
Yeah that would be cool. I always get them confused.
I would love to see that. I'm really interested to see the diffirance between the soil prep that we do back here in the Netherlands and what you guys are doing for soil prep.
I fourth this.
Jim must have been a farmer too, as he cares about the machinery as it was his own. God bless all

You mean the actress who plays the editor Becky.
@@persistentwindexactly. The Stunt Double driving the Vehicle.
You are kept pretty darn busy just keeping things organized and running Zach.
The UA-cam algorithm says the content section is greatly confused.
Thanks for your hard work, Becky.

I'm surprised a lot of the critical roll pins and bolts don't use lock wire to keep them secure.
Love seeing Jim! So glad hes back and doing well!
Glad to see Mr. Jim back at it! Been alot of fires this year. That's for sharing stay safe and harvest on!!!
I like your dad tee shirt thanks for supporting Canadian farmers
I was always taught to put bolts in nut down. That way if nut works loose, bolt stays in.
I was taught top to bottom, inside out, front to back unless the manual calls for otherwise.
Wouldn't have mattered either way with that impliment. The disc and bearing assy mounted to the bottom of the whatchamacallit.
It’s amazing to see real farm life like this! I’ve learned so much about agriculture thanks to your videos
I would seriously encourage Onyx to learn as much as he can off of Jim. That's free knowledge that can't be bought anymore
No I can promise it wasn’t free. It has taken him a lifetime to gather all that knowledge and a lot of hard work. He’s one heck of an operator.
@@ecleveland1that's free for onyx, bought & paid for over time for sure.
Can we make an ‘artificial intelligence’ Jim?

18:30 If your worried about it coming out, you can put another smaller one inside of it to make it tighter. The roll pin of course 😅
"That's what she said" 🤣
11:03 Didge’s side eye to Anna after the comment ‘smelling a little bit like dog in here’ was perfect comedic timing 😂
That looks like one of those Holstien cats.
🤣🤣🤣🐄🐄🐄
They really need to feature the cats much more with at least 1 or 2 appearances in each video.
It really does look like a Holstein

After a busy day at farm its vry Great to clean machinery negating fire hazard
I know you don't have time for podcasting anymore but I'd love for one with Jim, he's a national treasure.
One good thing about the warmer weather at least you're not having to play in the mud to harvest
Jim it's great to see you this harvest. Just not the same without that great Jim smile! 😊
Putting the corn dust into the field is an awesome move. Respect
Good eye Jim!

Woo, Jim sighting!
Common method for better roll-pin or split pin retention is to add a secondary pin inside of the main OD pin.. acts like a wedge and adds tension.
I saw a long time ago in one of the successful farming magazine where a farmer used tank sensors from a RV attached to lights on the outside of the bin to keep track of how further bins are
