My local board shop just told me when I asked then if they had oust bearings "you watch that rat vision video huh? bunch of bs" But I bought oust moc 9's and they're much better than my bones reds. After awhile my reds split sideways but my ousts are taking all the hits. Thanks for this video!
I still have my first bearings Bones Reds and Speed Metal Wrecking Balls, both are still rolling after years of street shredding (note that I bought them second-hand from friends too). In my opinion, Rat Vision should post more videos about skateboard technology with depth. Bi-weekly reviews on individual bearings performance and other skateboard goods would be superb! Thanks for sharing the info, I appreciate your input greatly.

Lol, for some reason rush's seem like they would be good bearings, I'd try them anyways. Rush, Modus, Bronson, FKD, Yellow jackets, and maybe Ándale's( and now maybe Oust) are about the only bearings(other than bones of course) that I'd try. I actually have 2 sets of bones big balls that I haven't tried, as well as 1 set of FKD laser swiss bearings, and 1 set of magenta plant bearings (only decent set of yellow bearings I could find). Odd that I haven't tried any of them but just getting back into skating after 8 years(wow), so I have skate park board, and a street board, and another 7.75" complete that I need to sell lol, + 1 extra set of wheels with bearings.
Man you have the best videos. What happened to you? I'm not even into skateboards and i just love your clips!!!! You have an awesome talent my friend. Any more videos coming up?

I love these bearings. I actually watched this video in hope of exactly what it taught me! A bearing actually made to withstand the twist and tension skating puts on bearings! So I got a pair and living in California, I called the actual warehouse where they came from, and I met the owners son and his buddy/coworker and they had a tremendous warehouse setup where they made a lot of awesome stuff skate related there. And so far, the blue pack bearings I got, have been the absolute best bearings I’ve ever had in my whole skate life! I’ve used reds most of my life because they’re cheap and basically just disposable bearings that work long enough for what they cost. I used to break and pop soooo many godamn bearings and even got a pack of bones Swiss for my b-day when I was like 12 or 13 when I was all skinny and weighed probably 145 only and still busted the bones Swiss so I lost faith in all bearings until I watched this video. I’m glad I saw this and got myself a pair. I’ll ride these for life even though they’re not what all the pros recommend. I will say this though. My buddy let me ride his cruiser and he had Bronson’s on them, and they were fast as fuck! But, I guarantee they would break on me if I actually skated them as every other bearing brands have done on me. THESE BEARINGS ARE MADE TO TAKE THE TORQUE WE PUT ON BEARINGS PEOPLE!! GET A PAIR!! They’re rad! THEY WORK!! I use the blue moc 5 street bearings. Theywill last longer than Swiss bones! I bet a zillion bucks! If you’re a long boarder I would still recommend the oust street bearings because I feel they’re actually the strongest bearings you can get and they’re still fast AF.
+The Beast that is the stupidest answer I've ever heard I watched it because I like rat vision the next bearings I said in my comment I may try them but I'm not sure I want to look into them first
+Austin Whitney yeah one thing I don't like about oust is the non removable shields they have a small hole in the shields to lube them but it's a lot harder to clean them I have had my bones reds for a few years and I clean them every month and they work just like they did when I bought them
I ride seismic bearings but tried hundreds of bearings before. For me the tekton 6 balls are the best downhill/freeride Longboard bearings. Because there are fast, durable, came with an integrated spacer and they are super easy to clean. And also they have a very badass design.
this channel is great. i hope you continue post videos. i did a lot of similar research when i wanted build a skateboard for street and park skating. this guy know more than i, and their are more subjects to discuss in videos.
eh. a little suspect that both your rat vision company and IDS are from torrance, CA. Hard to believe that a video like this would be unbiased, but good job on the videos nonetheless. I've tried the moc 7 bearings and they werent any better than bones, and certainly werent cheaper.
So........ did I miss the part where you explained what they did to redesign them etc or ???? Funny just finished watching a video about how abec doesn't matter and it basically just means the tolerances and youll never go fast enough/enough rpm on a skateboard to matter... yet this guy talks about the tight tolerances and apparently it matters... weird
This man isn't lying about these things. I brought a 100 dollar Nike outfit, sweats and hoodie. Shit faded after 2 washes. I brought a champion outfit where it was around 65 bucks. Still looks good after 4 months of washing.
Hey, what happened to you guys. When I started skating a year ago your videos helped me out alot, so what ever happened to you guys and why don't you make videos anymore
I had bought Oust moc 9 air(air? talking about branding, sounds like a little biting there from Nike) a while ago on sale and finally put them on my custom rhythm style quad skates, because my Bones Swiss bearings, which I swore by and love the precision and roll, are wearing out. tried the Reds and had to give them away ! I find the moc 9 are faster, yet smooth with the same control I had on the Bones swiss. I'm so impressed by the Moc 9, it's gonna be hard to even think of skating w another style or brand !!
#Duci vids how about not.... Oust doesn't even sponsor people, you can't find one pro skater advertising for oust anywhere. Pretty much every pro luge, downhill and slalom skater (you know, guys who actually need good bearings to win) ride oust bearings. I have them myself and they're 100x better than the crappy bone cancer you have under your board.
this is kind of a paradox. You are doing full branding in a anti-branding video. We just have to trust you on your testing results or your pros survey. No names nor fact sheets are shared. Nonetheless it is a great informal video.
This is how I feel about my Dark Wolf bearings, they are so under the radar, but excellent bearings, I have been skating mine since spring and all through this season. They are great.
My friend and I had a long discussion about bearings a month ago. He worked at a skate shop (or somewhere that had bearings) and claims that he discovered the top brand-name skate bearings have a major flaw when compared to generic non-skate bearings. Supposedly, on the top skate bearings, there is a gap between the outer race and the shield (which he discovered when holding the bearing up to light) which would allow sand and water to get in more easily than the generic non-skate bearings which didn't noticeably have that (although some skaters prefer to remove the shields to get that loud- gritty sound older bearings make). He also mentioned something else that was very interesting about the metal balls inside the bearing. I'm sending this video and your ABEC video to him to see what he has to say! Also, I thought Oust was a type of air freshening spray.
+Anklepants Skate Zine Great comment! Yes, it's true some cheaper bearings tend to have larger gaps between the shield and inner ring. The shield should not touch the inner ring, just so you know. The reason some have bigger gaps (besides just bad sizing) is that the bearing have looser tolerances (more play). So, because the bearing rings have more play to move, when loads are applied the shield could hit the inner ring. That would be ridiculously bad. To prevent that, the shields are smaller (or have a bigger gap). So, it's not a "flaw". It just has to be done that way for cheap, loose, ABEC 1 or 3 rated bearings. Tighter tolerances from higher ABEC rated bearings will have smaller gaps. Rubber seals are much better at protecting bearings and keeping lubricants in.
I'm absolutely done with Bones (no matter if Swiss made or not) cause they don't last me longer than maybe 2 month. Usually they are bad at arrival and really each bearing spins differently than the other - sometimes one or two are doomed from the beginning. I switched to Bronson Ceramics two years ago and I still love them. They are fast and they last.
Great videos as always. I used to watch the channel all the time a few years back. Now just got back on board (excuse the pun) and started my own UA-cam channel of skate things. Keep up the good work, let me know when your instagram launches!
For the moc 5 streets will I still be able to clean them in the cleaning kit because they have that whole. Just wondering if I'll need to buy or make a cleaning kit
You can usually find them from between $40-50. Worth every penny... IF... you have an application that they are suited for. Currently I'm doing quite a bit of experimentation with electric longboard wheel and bearing combinations. I'm finding that larger diameter wheels are ideal for both street compound solid wheels as well as all terrain tires that can go as large as 7-8 inches. These place incredible lateral loads on the bearings. Tolerances are critical both at the hub matching spacers to the actual internal hub space and making sure the bearings have tight tolerances so they can survive the lateral loads. I had a set of standard bearings (Actually 2 rear bearings started failing) on the AT wheels after about 40 miles. I upgraded to OUST Moc 9's for both the street wheels and the AT tires. I have since then put about 150 miles on the AT tires and a little over 200 miles on the OUST equipped street wheels. I'll see about doing a review of them soon. So far they are holding up fine.
Element bearings cost 10$, and they’re twice as fast as my reds. I just get the cheapest bearings, once you’re rolling your weight pushes the bearings forwards so it doesn’t matter what crapped out.
Viewer: What bearings do you use? Rat: We use high performance Oust bearings. Here's why.. Viewer: OMG corporate shill! You're probably sponsored by them. I'll stick with Bones. I'm starting to notice some pretty butthurt fans.
I found independent abec 7s in high school and they would out preform 80% of bearings when it came to consistency, speed and durability. I will still die on this hill but I have not used them recently as I have been trying to expand my horizons but I still have a usable set from around 2015. Thank you guys for this video though I am definitely going to try Oust.
Hey I was just wondering, I searched up Oust Bearings on youtube and google and everything shows them in longboards and you didn't mention regular skating either. so are these the best bearing for regular skateboarding too?
+me Absolutely! That's what the MOC 5's are for. Oust has a bigger name in Longboarding. Tensor actually sold their own bearings, but were actually Oust bearings. Tensor doesn't sell bearings any more, because they tried to get the Oust bearings made in China and failed.
question for you. have you tested or review the amphetamine abec 7 speed bearings? my friend and I both got a new set of bearings. he is sporting the bones swiss and I'm sporting the amphetamine speed bearings and both seam to roll the same distance down my driveway and the road without pushing off. difference between the 2 sets are the bones are the 6 inner balls, and my amphetamine speed bearings are 8 inner balls. just wondering if youl do a tutorial on the 2 brands that are not using the standard 7 ball set up. hope to hear back from you
We will eventually. Both of you purchased gimmicks unfortunately. The standard 7 ball bearings have 7 balls for many reasons. Bearing engineering has been around for a long time. Everything from ball size, ball quantity, and ball material has all been tested. 6 is not enough balls. Why? They do not disperse the loads as good as 7 balls. Larger [6] balls have a bigger foot print which increases drag and friction, and while rolling only 2 balls are handling the loads at one time. Less balls causes more loads per ball. In other words instead of 3 balls (from standard 7 ball bearings) taking on less loads, now 2 bigger balls (with a bigger foot print) are handling more weight/load. Other variables that go into more detail have proven that 6 balls are not as good as 7. 8 ball bearings also cause similar issues. More balls equals more surface contact, which means more drag. More drag equals less speed. Although more balls decreases the amount of load/weight dispersed to more balls, the drag from more balls decreases speed more than just 7 balls. 7 balls is the magic number for many reasons and variables that are too much for a youtube video comment reply. Hope this was helpful and wasn't too confusing. If you got it all, you and your friend now know more than Bones and Amphetamine bearings. Woo hoo!
I used to ride these bearings back when they were called tensor bearings, I remember them being a big deal when they were first coming out. From what I remember they were amazing at first but didn't last very long, They must have made some major improvements since then. This was a LONG time ago though, The ads in Transworld at the time made it seem like they were innovative from what I remember.
I can't believe this is not pure advertising. Only blah blah and not a single technical information on what would make Oust better bearings than any others
Thanks for the help just bought two new longboards completes and hated the bearing that where used needed to know what the best ones are this video was helpful:)
I have been skating for 17 years and have tried just about every bearing brand imaginable except for the newer companies like andale, hard luck, bronson, and tektons I plan on tryin the latter half of those. Anyways gave ousts a try a couple of years ago and was awed. I got the moc 9s, I found them for the same price as bones swiss just need to know where to look. The first pair I had got was damaged due to my stupid ass not cleaning them right away after riding them in the rain, not purposely though just a random downpour. I thought they were goners for sure, nope cleaned them up, the balls were gnarly lookin reassembled them which was a pain because the balls were no longer smooth and were hard to reposition in the race but I got it. I thought they'd b slow but no they were just as fast if anything they felt a little faster but probably not but the bottom line is they still performed beyond my expectations I still hav em they're my lifesaver bearings now, lol. Have my second set now and they're just as good as the last, I hav them in bones 54 atf and boy do they fly and they hold their speed for a while I ride in the streets most of the time and they hold up nicely, my only complaint would b the the nylon crowns they're really thin one cracked on my first pair didn't affect performance but had it broke all the way I would've had a useless bearing. Highly highly recommended u won't b disappointed.
Great comment. Sorry to hear about the retainer cracking. That tends to happen with hard impact skating, but is usually common for bearings that are not lubricated. The plastic can dry out and increase the chances of cracking/breaking.
Who ever said skaters are unintelligent drug addicts? This guy clearly has done research and has the proper brains to make a solid 10/10 review. Thanks ratvison really helped out!
I am trying to make fidget spinners and my grandpa told me to put the bearings in gasoline. It got the grease out but i put in in water(big mistake) now they are rusted. I still have some still sitting in gas. i wont run it under water anymore. Will that orange cleaner get all of the greas/oil out not just some? for future refrences
considering what you said about wheels and what you said in the spacer video about the inconsistency of the bearing gaps can you suggest a set or brand of wheel that will go well with OUST bearings? trying to build the Ferrari of
remember if somebody on UA-cam is making a claim that one thing is better than the other look in the description to see if they are sponsored by that company. and sometimes they are sponsored by a company and it's not put in the description which is illegal.
The trucks are fine. However, you have to decide why you want low. What is low going to do for you? If you want to go low, did you ever consider what your wheel diameter is? Are you aware that by going low and keeping the same diameter wheel that you will now change your pop? These are things you have to think about. Don't worry pros don't even think about it either. When you change diameter and truck height, you change the leverage from the tip of the tail to the ground. This affects how high the nose gets when the tail hits the ground. You might want to go with high trucks if you have a small diameter wheel. You just have to find what you like. There is no right or wrong way, but these questions and tips are great to have in mind when it comes to your own setup.
okay thanks for the info. yes i have thought about the wheel diameter, i was thinking about getting 51's. but does that mean that i will pop higher since im less inches of the ground?

+NeCtRiCkS so true
+NeCtRiCkS however most skaters know oust sucks from personal experience and bones are far superior
A Tribe Called Quest, you serious?! I've never been able to check Oust out, as they don't exist here in Brazil. Good to know, though! See you.
i needed to decide which bearing to buy, but i forgot to research. i bought rush bearings because i like the band RUSH.
Hahaha that's a damn good reason
Drex33 rush are pretty good bearings

Ethan McBeth to watch some geek give me advice, but I'm ignorant and just don't care. ill never ride oust hahaha

I'm so impressed by the Moc 9, it's gonna be hard to even think of skating w another style or brand !!
dude hes probably sponserd by oust oust bearings are shit
#Duci vids how about not....
Oust doesn't even sponsor people, you can't find one pro skater advertising for oust anywhere.
Pretty much every pro luge, downhill and slalom skater (you know, guys who actually need good bearings to win) ride oust bearings.
I have them myself and they're 100x better than the crappy bone cancer you have under your board.
Your username is love
woodsyhasgame boi you probably used them with a walmart board, shut up and have the trucks tight AF
woodsyhasgame "they rode like shit" just because you ride like shit doesn't make the bearing shitty lmfao
woodsyhasgame glad you know you ride like shit
Your vids are amazingly interesting!! I ve never watched any more detailled skate-brand Videos ever!!!
this is kind of a paradox. You are doing full branding in a anti-branding video.
We just have to trust you on your testing results or your pros survey.
No names nor fact sheets are shared.
Nonetheless it is a great informal video.
One of the best explanations of skate bearings I have seen .
I just buy fidget spinners,
They come with bearings...
CøsmicKäZę pretty good ones tbh
I no joke used those and they work so smooth and they get dirty easily
CøsmicKäZę this comment is only valid for the year 2019
Nice
Same
This is how I feel about my Dark Wolf bearings, they are so under the radar, but excellent bearings, I have been skating mine since spring and all through this season. They are great.
You alive? We miss you bro
Any way to purchase oust bearings in Australia? Thanks
+Rat Vision - Skateboard Tech That's great to know. Who knew bearings could be so incredibly complicated?
Its been 5 years, when are you guys going to post again
I'm absolutely done with Bones (no matter if Swiss made or not) cause they don't last me longer than maybe 2 month. Usually they are bad at arrival and really each bearing spins differently than the other - sometimes one or two are doomed from the beginning. I switched to Bronson Ceramics two years ago and I still love them. They are fast and they last.
vxb made in usa has some good shit
Same here I can't stand bearings with only 1 seal/shield on 1 side
Thank you for this info I am getting an 8bit board for Christmas and don't know to much and this video helped me a lot thanks again.
Still waiting for a new vid D:
Great videos as always. I used to watch the channel all the time a few years back. Now just got back on board (excuse the pun) and started my own UA-cam channel of skate things. Keep up the good work, let me know when your instagram launches!
The only thing I got from this paid advertisement is that I will probably never purchase oust 😂
For the moc 5 streets will I still be able to clean them in the cleaning kit because they have that whole. Just wondering if I'll need to buy or make a cleaning kit
This is just an ad for oust bearings
60 dollars for bearings ?!?! 😖😖😖
+Luis Tapia lol, he never said they were cheap
Luis Tapia that's probably average price for me lmao
Luis Tapia exactly why people use reds😂
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH RAT VISION! THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE MUST KNOW!
Can you make a video about which bearing spacers fit with which wheels? Because you said a lot of them make the wrong sizes, etc.
+Slayed UrNan Which decks would you say are the best/worst?
Don't worry about that, it doesnt make a big difference +Slayed UrNan
+Tom Keller Yeah, mmkay
I can't believe u still exist, I watched u about 5 years back
Viewer: What bearings do you use?
Rat: We use high performance Oust bearings. Here's why..
Viewer: OMG corporate shill! You're probably sponsored by them. I'll stick with Bones.
I'm starting to notice some pretty butthurt fans.
Very enlightening. Thanks for such an amazingly comprehensive review of bearings.
Can you do a comparison between Oust and Bones Reds? Like the durability/ strength performance & etc..
Bones reds are garbage
IM VERY GREATFUL FOR YOUR GUYS CHANNEL! DON'T STOP MAKING VIDEOS!!!
Year is 2021 I’m just minding my own business then my head I wonder what happened to this channel
Hey I was just wondering,
I searched up Oust Bearings on youtube and google and everything shows them in longboards and you didn't mention regular skating either. so are these the best bearing for regular skateboarding too?
+me Absolutely! That's what the MOC 5's are for. Oust has a bigger name in Longboarding. Tensor actually sold their own bearings, but were actually Oust bearings. Tensor doesn't sell bearings any more, because they tried to get the Oust bearings made in China and failed.
These still the best skate information out there
I'm torn this channel has uploaded anything in four years. This channel is the best
he repeated himself 😂😂😂😂😂 "why oust? they aren't that popular , and we said why oust? I asked myself because they aren't that popular " 😂😂
do you have to take out rubber shield when you clean moc 9 bearings with cleaning kit?
notice how he keeps looking down. there is a script there. this is totally not sponsored.
Could of just prepped well to reduce ums and uhs...
Dude there is a script because nobody wants to see thousands of cuts. Your beloved TV programme all have scripts
Can you think for like a second pal?
I made a valid attempt and superseded my expectations!
Ya booiiiieeee
I mean it's a lot of information to remember so it would be better to have script
Great video. We need more content from this Channel :)
i was wanting to see some speed testing of the different bearings out there. you only described oust but did not describe any other brands at all.
This video was our personal recommendation. We mentioned that in the beginning. We will being a speed test in an upcoming video.
question for you. have you tested or review the amphetamine abec 7 speed bearings? my friend and I both got a new set of bearings. he is sporting the bones swiss and I'm sporting the amphetamine speed bearings and both seam to roll the same distance down my driveway and the road without pushing off. difference between the 2 sets are the bones are the 6 inner balls, and my amphetamine speed bearings are 8 inner balls. just wondering if youl do a tutorial on the 2 brands that are not using the standard 7 ball set up. hope to hear back from you
We will eventually.
What would you say is the best Longboard setup? im looking for speed. so what kind of wheels, bearings, trucks, etc. Thanks!
I can't believe this is not pure advertising. Only blah blah and not a single technical information on what would make Oust better bearings than any others
You also recommend the Oust bearing cleaning system and the Oust bearing lubricant. Oust is in Lomita, CA. And you?
I totally believe you about pros using oust wanna get some evidence or trying to pull a keemstar
Who needs evidence? Just repeat the phrase "world's top slalom skaters' 20 times or more and you technically trump any evidence.
I died reading this.
Thanks for the help just bought two new longboards completes and hated the bearing that where used needed to know what the best ones are this video was helpful:)
Plz upload again
The plastic can dry out and increase the chances of cracking/breaking.
this video kinda seems like the kind of product bragging you said other brands do
Except Oust is proven to be superior, and we aren't getting paid by Oust. So, it's up to you if you trust us or not. Many people do.
@@RatVision proven where tho, I'd like to read about it
Who ever said skaters are unintelligent drug addicts? This guy clearly has done research and has the proper brains to make a solid 10/10 review. Thanks ratvison really helped out!
From "informative" to just an ad.
How much did they pay you for this infomercial?
I guess everything is for sale......
+theblackslcmamba ZERO!
Why have you stopped making videos Rat Vision?
theblackslcmamba , big box of product if it wasn't cash, no doubt.
considering what you said about wheels and what you said in the spacer video about the inconsistency of the bearing gaps can you suggest a set or brand of wheel that will go well with OUST bearings? trying to build the Ferrari of
Zealous ftw, best bearings I have ever used.
How come this is the last Rat Vision video?
We miss your videos come back pls
+Katzedem We will have more videos this summer.
Rat Vision - Skateboard Tech lol it's been 2 years
What happened to this channel? Is there no more videos?
remember if somebody on UA-cam is making a claim that one thing is better than the other look in the description to see if they are sponsored by that company. and sometimes they are sponsored by a company and it's not put in the description which is illegal.
Almost 100k subscribers! I can sense the silver play button.
this is not marketing advertisement?
Nope
what do u think about tensor 10's alum lows? please anwser
Read what they wrote again... Less inches from the ground means less pop as your tail will hit the ground earlier than if the board was higher
Another great in depth video. Only one question now. What's the best skate lubricant?
i wonder where this guy is right now
